  1. Ok, so this subject has cropped up on a couple of threads recently.. Can anyone enlighten us on instances, details of such exclusions, why the rule existed, how it effected team riding and when the rule was taken out the much maligned and criticised rule book?
  2. How did all this team riding actually happen in the old days......? According to another thread you could be and was excluded for looking behind you until the very, very early 1970's??
  3. Bona-Fida attempt to race. Surely, if the ref feels a rider in any position in a race is not doing that, he should be excluded?
  4. Wern't Booeys ashes buried deep enough to avoid displacement from foundations? Sure I heard this from somewhere....?
  5. Or, cover it in sand, then pack it down with scaffolding planks!! Problem then is, you have to keep painting the penalty spot!!
  6. I agree, go with what we have, Polish Speedway will go t**s up before too long, and they'll be back knocking on the Elite Leagues door with the begging bowls out.. Consolidate with what we have...
  7. Leicester Lions will not prop up the league, I personally think they will scrape 5th, finishing positions could end up being decided on injuries, if current teams lose a number 1 to injury, especially mid season, where the hell are they going to get a like for like replacement from...?? Especially if this occurs mid season, with ist of the other top riders in the middle of the GP'S Polish League, SEC, and other leagues that are going to take precedence over the UK..
  8. Ta very much, I have seen this used frequently, now this makes loads of topic comments make some sense!!
  9. Blimey!!!! When was the last rider excluded for looking behind, and who was it and where? Also, how the hell did riders team ride? The rose tinted brigade never ever mention any of this??
  10. Slick entering the corners, and maybe slick on the inside line in the corners, with a gradual increase in dirt as you move wider, to provide more grip, as you are then going a longer route round the corners, also grip evenly spread coming out the corners, so you provide lines like (Karlssons Corridor) at Wolverhampton. A reasonably sticky/grippy across the start line area, stretching around 5 to 6 metres away from the start line..
  11. We were working on the track all day today, mostly drying shale out, cutting high spots off and in-filling dips and holes... Had some new shale delivered today, and Glyn was working it into the track after a lot of worn out surface material was removed.. Starting to resemble a speedway track again now.. Still lots of work to be done on the surface, a lot depends on the next 2-3 weeks weather we get, the 7-14 day forecast is a tad messy with a lot of computer models not in unison, could, and I mean could get a really heavy snowfall next weekend if one set of models becomes the dominant outcome.. But all models indicate a cold first half of March..
  12. So, why no sawdust.....? Well, I seem to remember over hearing a conversation between a couple of bods I couldn't see, only hear in A pits area in the UK. What they were saying if I remember, was that sawdust changes the structure of shale and how it binds together (in the long term) May get you out of a pickle, but creates all sorts of track issues further down the line.....
  13. Excluded for looking behind??? That's a bit harsh!!!
  14. It's not that bad, but enlighten us, who should they go and get? Come on, who?
  15. Why on Earth would you do that? A rider returning after a premature retirement, someone who has fragile temperament, who hasn't ridden a competitive race in 20 months or so! That has stuck a whole load of pressure on the lad straight away.. Terrible move in my opinion..!
  16. Kai Neimi or Niemi, always used to get it wrong!! Top rider in his day....!
  17. Sawdust seems out of favour these days as well. Remember when I first started watching speedway, if it rained all day but was ok by start time, bags and bags of the stuff was spread out on the wet racing surface, and I do mean bags of the stuff.. Can't remember the last time I saw it being used (pardon the pun!!) Think I seem to remember a Sky meeting from Eastbourne yonks ago, Bob covered the track and graded it in and it looked ok, but if I remember correctly, it was postponed because Nicki Pedersen said it was dangerous... Early 2000's I think.. So what is the reason for not using sawdust in the here and now on wet tracks??
  18. Wolverhampton, Leicester, there's two tracks where viewing from turn 1 stroke turn 2 the public is not really catered for..... I'm sure there's more...
  19. You'd think that clean castor based oil wouldn't do any damage to the environment.... But obviously, 2 year old, dirty black superlube out the tractor would be a different kettle of fish altogether though!!
  20. So no insights yet from the shale alchemists... So I'll ask another question. How many different race surfaces are there available? You know, red shale, grey shale etc, etc... And which one is the best for UK tracks? And why?
  21. Thought you signed S Lambert ages ago, then had to renage because of Peterborough fixture clashes? So you've signed him up again then?
  22. iris123 Can you provide link/name to where I may find the kinetic energy (fence impact) discussion please?
  23. I agree Gemini, a rider would surely like the smoothest, safest fastest surface available, assuming they are reasonably good haters.. Get out in front, pick and choose your own lines, and ride just fast enough to stay at the front for 4 laps. Cannot imagine why any rider would not want the above scenario, unless you just cannot put 4/5 good starts together..
