Nobody gave the lions a chance at Sheffield, especially once the Tigers had strengthened with Doyley in for Stead, and then the Lions being without Wozniak, who was replaced by Auty in the main body of the team, and then using Widman to replace Auty... But the Lions scored in depth, and won 43-47 Maybe Coventry 46 Lions 44 -

Do you think it was called-off a tad prematurely? Especially when you have the plant available to renew a racing surface at the drop of a hat? Rain radar looks clear for 3 to 4 hours as well.... -

Hmmmm, the rain is heading your way, but, as it moves east it breaks up and weakens.... Not due to get to East Coast until 4/5pm and on the predicted rain path, it will be much lighter & patchier when it does reach you.... Could well get away with it.. -

The last thing turns 3 & 4 needs now is any sort of precipitation falling on it, if it was me, and its not, I would try and protect the reinstated areas of the track with covers if possible... -

Same with model rocketry, I used to build and launch rockets with solid fuel motors, 1.5 metre in height, capable of reaching almost a mile high, had to inform the CAA and only launch in designated areas/times and nowhere near flightpaths!! Sorry, I digressed!! -
Holes are nigh on impossible to reinstate on speedway tracks by just in-filling them. It's much more efficient and effective to "grind" them out and re-level a much larger area..if you fill it, it either comes straight out, or you're left with bump! (Wear around the hole) The fill material being left proud..

Part sarcastic, part, well, possibly not as daft as it sounds!!

Using cement on a speedway track is a quick fix, but one that can cause problems in itself further down the line, especially if used in patches only... In my humble opinion.. -
Official team pics were taken before/during/after the Sheffield meeting.. Edit: Don't these pics have to be licensed/authorised by go-speed before being made public? Or is that just A ridiculous statement!!

Leicester V Sheffield Ch 19/03 1pm
Shale Searcher replied to TMW's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Blimey!! The track alterations have made a difference, don't judge it until two teams of equal ability, and commitment have ridden each other on it in a meaningful meeting, that actually has something at stake on it.....!! No disrespect to Sheffield, or Leicester for that matter, it was a start of season cobweb blowing off affair, nothing more, nothing less... -

Great pic Mr Hall!! -
If, Newman had of returned to the pits, or wait for another rider to take another pair of goggles to him at the start line, or tried to rectlfy the fault with the goggles at the aforementioned tapes, he would have been rightly excluded under the not ready to race rules (2 mins) It wasn't spotted by the ref, but if the ref had of had the bottle, he could have excluded him after the race finished for not wearing goggles. He didn't, so we move on..

It's going back to the days of having a ringer foreigner at reserve, except now they're British ringer reserves! No ambition, won't be or get any better than they are now, reached his /there level. -
Problem with that is, you become a student, get a card, then leave.. you don't have to hand the card in. An official letter from your university with supporting photo ID is probably less easy to forged.. NUS cards are no longer valid for lots of things...

There's a second line, behind the start/finish line, it's so positioned that when the front wheel spindles are lined up over it, the front most part of the tyre will be within the regulation 75mm of the tapes.. -
1985, went with Leicester Lions Supporters Club, brilliant, Sergai Kasakov, Per Olef Seranius, great weekend, great people, played cards in hotel with about 5 different currencies on the table!!!!!! True speedway spirit, fantastic time!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, it's cooler today, my weather station is saying 8.2c I did say the warm temperatures would be governed by the amount of sunshine, and up north Scotland who have had blue sky and Sun most of the day, reached 18c today, yes 18c!! Still pretty dry until 24/25th March, and in any prolonged sunshine, we will get into double figures... 12c, 14c, maybe a 16c...
