  1. Agree, we need to f### off the foreigners now and start from scratch again..... At a lower level, but plan to build higher every season, not build lower and dilute every year......
  2. Where are these replacement heat leaders going to come from? Couldn't find any better ones over winter, where they gonna come from in May??
  3. If the country's overall abilities speedway wise were reversed, IE the UK had a plethora of GP quality riders, but little domestic speedway and Australia were in the doldrums speedway wise, lots of opportunities, but nobody to step into those opportunities, would Tai, as he was living in Australia at the time, May well have gone for Aussie Citizenship, to quickly progress to the GP circus..... And left the UK well alone... Tell me if you think that scenario is in the realms of fantasy or not...?
  4. Call it off now, stop fans travelling, it's too cold for speedway, bin the season off until May when weather allegedly is better. Poor turnout because it will be cold and dark later in the meeting.
  5. Tai Woffinden chose to align himself to Britain for one reason, and one reason only. He wanted to ride at international level, if he had chosen to take the Austrailan Citizenship route, he would not have got that opportunity, he would have been way down the pecking order to get into the Aussie team, and would have had an equally poor chance of getting into to GP's as an Aussie, there were just to many good Aussie riders at that time.... He chose Britain, purely because we were woeful at the time, and had a far far better set of opportunities with The UK.. He's not the only sportsman that has chosen a flag for convenience, he won't be the last. He just doesn't do a very good job of disguising his loyalties when it comes to where he really wants to be.. I don't buy the burn-out story, that's just a load of old twaddle.. Why didn't he just say he didn't want to race in the British Final, because it would hamper his application for Australian Citizenship.. At least we would of known.. And before you harp on about the SWC, if his application for Aussie Citizenship wascgoing well, he may well have pulled out of that as well and have been picked to represent Australia!!
  6. A few heavy showers heading Swindons way from the Bristol Channel, get it called off now, don't forget the riders bikes and race suits are made of hi-tech sugar and don't respond too well to water....
  7. Off a short pier!!!, I hope, not heard that saying in years!!! "Take a long walk off a short pier"
  8. Think this will be closer than that, Lions to lose by 8/10 points max..
  9. I was! It just makes me angry how clubs seem to cancel at the first hint of a dodgy forecast... Not a direct dig at KL, just spleen venting on a thread about a up coming fixture, could have been any EL club...
  10. Won't go ahead, chance of drizzle Thursday morning, and cloudy in the evening... It will be cool as well in the evening, so nobody will turn up to watch... Will be re arranged sometime in July, better weather..
  11. Good evening race fans, it's the British Speedway Final, where the best British Riders compete to be the best British rider of 2016 and the chance to beat the current World Speedway Champion.. Having Tai Woffinden in the British Final will put extra bums on seats, give the rest of the field a chance to beat the World Champion, even if it's only a single race win... This meeting now will have fewer fans in attendance, will attract far less media attention, and quite frankly, it's a disgrace he is not competing this year....
  12. Ok Gavan, who did you mean where your phone put "Newman" on the post? PS, I hate predictive text, you write one word, and Pred Text changes it to another "toad"!!
  13. Perhaps he is going for a change in his nationality.... Aussie Govt Department For Nationality Change.. Ok Mr Woffinden, you want to become Australian, why in that case did you win The British Final? Tai: Strewth cobber, "swigs 4X" And chews on a "Vegemite" sarnie, I can't be ere all day, gotta put a "shrimp" on the barby sport! I'm an Aussie, nodding his head and the corks tap his forehead. Ok Mr Woffinden, you're in.....
  14. Ok, let's make a list of any reasonable excuses for Tai NOT riding in the British Final this year.... I will go first 1) Tai is having an operation on the day of the British Final.
  15. Newman happy beating inferior riders in reserve berth, Premier League no 1's are EL 3rd heat leaders like Cook was, King is and #Newman# is???? Who do you mean here## not Newman, but who? ***Gavans post from 2 days ago***
  16. On a cold March evening? The season has always started in March? I remember when I was a kid, I craved March arriving so I could get down to Blackbird Road, speedway under lights, coat, club scarf and bobble hat on, drinking a small bottle of Hoyes pop (5p back on the bottle) in one hand, and either a fresh cooked proper Hot Dog, or Pasti in the other.... Shouting for the Lions!!! Great atmosphere! Has everyone gone soft?
  17. Weather now looks clear for Wolverhampton, it's Times like this when track covering of some sort would earn its corn, Same with Leicester on Saturday, threw it down from around 4pm to 6.15pm, the stopped and was dry/no more rain fell until well after 10pm.. Covering the track would have saved both meetings, and although its not barmy weather, it wasn't and isn't freezing either...
  18. Is it still chucking it down? Wolverhampton are usually excellent at getting meetings on when dodgy weather has been around.... So, is it Skys lack of confidence in Wolverhamptons ability to get the meeting on? Can't remember the last time Wolverhampton had a live Sky meeting postponed or abandoned...? Or is it because Sky don't want to go up against a terrestrial TV broadcast of an England football match, albeit a friendly.. Or is it another reason..?? Sportowfaky, saying meeting cancelled due to rain....
  19. Has it rained in Wolverhampton today?,or is it off due to weather forecast for this late afternoon??
  20. We were beaten by the weather on Saturday night against Coventry. 3 hours of rain, maybe 40 minutes of torrential rain, and then at 6.15pm it stopped, just as I predicted, but we just could not get rid of all the water... This is the sort of meeting that SHOULD beat the weather, where track covers would definately work. The rain was forecast, and arrived duly on time, and finished on time. Would it be in the realms of fantasy to invent/develop a track sealant, that could be sprayed onto a well tyre packed surface? You'd prepare for the rain, pack the track down well and hard, then using your track crop sprayer, over spray the track with this sealant... It would not have to be removed like covers, could be quickly graded in to the track surface with a wonder wheel, then ridden on straight away!! I don't know, a bit like what they spray into cricket wickets, a Glued" pitch.. There's got to be something out there, surely?
  21. That's ridiculous!! Even the met office struggle with forecasts of T72 This sort of behaviour, calling off, pulling a meeting off broadcast schedules with 72+ hours in hand will be the death nel of speedway.. The sport you cannot trust. Why bother with a fixture list, May as just wait for a dry day or two and assemble teams from riders available on the day!! Pathetic...
  22. The rain stopped around 6.15, I had been working on the the track with Glyn and Steve all day Friday and from 11am Today (race day) the track had been packed to within an inch of its life and was rock hard, the rain had not penetrated the the top, yes, there was a lot of standing water which was being swept down the drains and under the fence on the home straight.. we tried as hard as we could to get the meeting on, if the rain had turned up an hour earlier, and had stopped by 5.30, we would have succeeded in getting the meeting on.. There was just to much standing water around bends 3 and 4 and with all the brushing of water down the drsind it burst the seal on the track, and that was about that....
  23. After a narrow 8pt defeat at Brandon last night, the Lions take on the Coventry Bees tonight at Beaumont Park, 7.30pm.. Weather a tad iffy, but been at track all day yesterday, packed as tight as a drum, all drains cleaned, and ready to take rain. Weather forecast now not as bad, and has improved hour by hour the last 24hrs. Rain forecast at the moment to fall between 3pm ish and 6pm ish, track should easily take it, the good hour to dissipate any puddles, should be all systems go....!!!
