  1. Can some who was there tell us why the heat times were up to 2 seconds slower than normal please? Thanks...
  2. There are some heavy, thundery showers heading Pooles way, quite heavy, convective showers with gusty winds, hail and the odd rumble or two of thunder rolled in for good measure. However, they are fast moving, and therefore, if you do cop one, they blow through pretty sharpish... You should be ok....
  3. Ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is a recent phenomenon... Early call-offs due to weather forecasts, unless it's same day, with prolonged rain forecast from noon until midnight, a meeting should not be called off!! Especially for showers!! When you see rain on a forecast map, not a nowcast map, it is just that, a forecast, except the placing of the rain on these forecast maps are educated guesses and NOT a guarantee. Wolverhampton were very unlucky on Monday, 10 miles west or 10 miles east and they would probably have been all right.. Meetings are called off far to easily now.. Never used to happen, fans don't turn up now for fear of a rain-off, even if the forecast is for "a chance of a shower" Jason Doyle is wrong in this instance, the forecast was on a very difficult day, and not set in stone..
  4. It's actually £106.45, to go speedway, I like to get a taxi there and back, that's £30, have a large kebab on the way, few pints at the track bar when I get there, a burger and chips trackside, I buy £20 worth of 50/50 tickets, a programme, a souvenir from track shop, and a couple more beers in the bar after, whilst I wait for my taxi!!! Come on, speedway costs £17/£18 to watch, any of the other costs are mostly optional!!!!
  5. Weather forecast for Saturday is OK at the moment, A cold front moves through our region during late Friday afternoon/evening, with rain on it, it exits into the north sea over Friday night, leaving Saturday to be cool, mainly dry with odd showers during Saturday day, dry for the evening, temps for Saturday range 8c to 13c, gusty winds during the daytime showers, calming down for the evening hours.. Next Wednesdays weather, I will have a look at the T144+ charts tomorrow to be able to give a broad forecast for that day..
  6. One rider, one team. My take on this is simple.... If a rider rode for only one team, in a small league like the UK Elite League, he more than likely wouldn't be able to make a living, from that job alone, especially in today's economic climate. Apart from the competing costs, keeping a minimum of 2 decent bikes, + the ancillary spend that that carries. Just 1 or 2 meetings a week is not going cut the mustard. So, they need another job, a normal day job does not fit nowadays with a speedway racing schedule, so do what you do for another employer.. Like having 2 20hr pub jobs, to get the equivalent of a 40hr+ full time job. This unfortunately means there are the inevitable clashes, neither club is happy with the clashes. Either pay riders twice as much, that would mean extortionate admission costs with today's attendance levels, or put up with missed meetings. I don't know what the answer is at the moment, especially at EPL level and above..
  7. Can anyone start the BV v Leicester thread for this Friday?
  8. It was announced that that sponsorship had come to its natural end.
  9. Will it matter? They could probably leave half their team out and run Colts instead and still beat us at the moment!!!!
  10. It's easy for to get conformation from the educational institute involved, a conformation by return fax/email is easily achieved. Had a similar problem myself, easily sorted..
  11. Elite League Admission = £17 Premier League Admission is £?? If its only £1 more for EL, then what's everyone moaning about admission to the EL??? Another 7p or 8p per race to watch Chris Harris, Holder, Zagar, Doyle.. Come on folks, get real.!!!!
  12. Don't you just hate it when it's fine and the speedway has been postponed due to an inclement forecast that's at least 48 hours out of date!!!
  13. What's the weather doing in Kings Lynn at the moment?
  14. The rainfall is quite a narrow band of thundery rain, but looks like it should blow through by 6.30pmish.
  15. That was just it, I didn't fancy being shot at in real life, if I couldn't shoot back!!
  16. Right, I'm in me helicopter, and ascending, hold on, Mayday, Mayday, forgot to get a pilot.. crash!!! On a more serious note, from above, team strengths is a huge issue, but is this also due to there only being 8 clubs in the league?? If the league had 16 teams, the lesser teams would be competing for the 4th play off place, with 12 teams, not just 3 other teams, the difference between a very good season and an atrocious season is just to damn close together...
  17. I suggested this a couple of years back, posting under ones real name, I got shot down in flames in an instant..!!! Also, back to the Kings Lynn cancellation, if it was Kings Lynn that cancelled, why didn't sky switch to Wolverhampton, they've done it before, and at a lot shorter notice!! There's definitely more to this issue than meets the eye...
  18. If all 8 Elite League teams had one "star rider" Which/ who would they be? You'd need 8 of equal ability, commitment, equipment, availability and attitude.. Can anyone find these 8 souls?
  19. Looks like the persistent rain has now exited into the north sea, Kings Lynn should remain rain free, until the showers/thunderstorms start to develop later this afternoon.... Or may miss them all! Do you all do the lottery? Predicting where these showers/storm hit is like picking 5 numbers on the lottery, so the odds of Kings Lynn getting bullseyed by a storm is hard to predict.... The (off) call was way, way to early in my humble opinion..
  20. Good bit of filming there Phil the Ace, might be worth giving up ya day job!!! I remember Saddlebow Rd as being a very entertaining race track, looks very gate and go now, especially when you have 4 blokes on rocket ships, on tracks bereft of dirt... No wonder speedway is on a downer at the moment..
  21. Re a possible postponement, see my post on the "Sky cancel again" thread, just now..
  22. Just been studying the weather models/pressure charts/convective outlook and tomorrows weather is a real problem.. especially the further east you get in the UK. We've had a bit of a plume today, which culminated in a quite active area of moisture/lapse rates/shears and this triggered some very heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms over south east England... Stowmarket received 15.4mm of rain in 40 minutes earlier this evening, the storms got as far north as Ipswich, before pulling east into the north sea.. Tomorrow (Monday) will be a rinse and repeat, but it will be more widespread, yet just as unpredictable.. in the nature of where and when the (Big) showers and longer periods of rain hit.. There's a good chance that Kings Lynn will get a fair dose of rain, especially in the early part of the day, which will then give way to heavy and thundery showers, with a chance of a Thunderstorm/s in the afternoon after daytime heating takes effect. However, these afternoon thundery showers and/or Thunderstorms are by nature difficult to predict in strength and location, and Kings Lynn could cop a good un, or none!! Busters reputation as a track man has always in recent years been that he can get meetings on, when most have no chance, due to his knowledge, stadium access and plant at his disposal, Kings Lynn fans know this, most other teams and promoters know this, and Sky definitely know this, so why such an early capitulation to a weather forecast that is not 100% nailed on, especially 48hrs before the day of the race meeting.. That's the question that needs answering. Cars or no cars on Sunday, should not influence a postponement that premature.... Rant over.
  23. Just looked at the scores on updates, Lions numbers 2, 3, 4 & 5 only mustered 6 points between them!!!! Terrible efforts.... Well done guest rider Ellis, Lions Starke and Hougarred..
