Ok, not a lot of interest in this thread. To open the subject up a bit, what is the main reason riders do not like riding on wet, heavy, slippery tracks? Is it visibility, is it grip? If its a combination of both, then surely the once saviour of speedway, the dirt deflector needs an update, and also the tyres used, why not have a wet track tyre available? If the visibility issue could be resolved, then I'm sure the tyre issue could be as well???

His problem he failed to finish races!! Once he got cut adrift by 20+ yards he capitulated, knocked the throttle off and pulled onto the centre green!! No effort, didn't even stay on the same lap, just in case there was an incident and a rerun, or A genuine E.F and the chance to get a point! I don't have anything against riders that are trying, scoring 0000 if they battled for their 0's He obviously wasn't right, and in the past, we've persevered with riders to long and been chastised by fans. I personally like Greg, but something was definitely not right and the parting will hopefully help the Lions and give Greg Walasek time to sort his own demons out..... -

The rain the Midlands is getting overnight tonight/Monday early hours is going to fizzle out, I don't expect the amount of rain that will fall will be anywhere near the amount initially forecast.. So basically no rain after 4am.. Then it will be dry for most of the day, a small chance of a shower around lunchtime, and then, the rain moving into the Midlands for the evening, I think will stay mostly west of Coventry... I think an early call off will/would be an insult to speedway fans and would show Coventrys management a lack of commitment to try and get meetings on.... -
>48T is a little more reliable than >72T, but a lot depends on the general weather set up.. At this time of the year, it's (the weather) is in A transitional state, very fluid, very unpredictable. The jet stream, polar vortex, el nino, the azores, it's a right old melting pot, and a shift of only a few milibars either way can change a forecast drastically...

That weather forecast is >72T ! To early to be believed! As low as 15% reliability at that distance..

Been up at the track all day today, any lying water has been removed, some remedial work on 3 and 4 before the boys got down to some serious practise.. Rain forecast for overnight tonight, so we'll get rid of any more water that overstays it's welcome in the morning. Forecast for race day is ok, sunny intervals, chance of a shower, temps between 10c and 14c, less windy than of late.. Should be a cracking meeting!!!!!!!! I'll update weather, but only if the forecast changes from above. -
Totally reasonable procedure to protect Coventry Speedway from the crooks...

Belle Vue V Leicester Friday 8th April.

Why were they selling tickets still from the ticket office, they must have known the Belle Vue v Leicester match was already a gonna.... Cheaky foooooookers!!! -
Well, couldn't believe Belle Vue have postponed tonight's meeting v Leicester.. Based on a slightly iffy forecast. With their state of the art drainage, even without covers, as long as it's not raining at the start, they should have no major problems..?? What's the real reason for these advanced rain offs?

Swindon - Wolves 7.4.16 Meeting Off

That's just about your lot now, maps with rain symbols are a very very rough guide, you need to delve deeper to get more accurate, and a less generalised forecast.... -

Swindon - Wolves 7.4.16 Meeting Off
Shale Searcher replied to A ORLOV's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Well, blow me down!!! The above post I made was meant to be a sarcastic one!!!!! The weather is improving this afternoon, chance of thundery showers, but risk recedes after 4pm, even less chance of any rain this evening after 5pm... Another meeting called off prematurely.. As a fan, i would stop planning any speedway meetings into my diary now completely, and just go if the meeting is definately on, and I hadn't planned anything else. If any other events that crop up on the same evening as a speedway meeting, I'd plan that in instead, knowing that planning a speedway meeting into my diary, is just to iffy.... British Speedway meetings are now less likely to go ahead in dodgy weather than cricket!!!!! -
Periscope. A Promoters Nightmare App.
Shale Searcher replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Why doesn't the management do a periscope production of their own, say pits highlights just pre meeting, warming up, rider thoughts, coin toss, track walk, then highlights of 3 maybe 4 races, crowd views, race end fans view (camera views of crowd) interview riders/fans on result, package it up as a 10/15 min weekly promo video, firstly give it to the local tv news sports desk, then onto you tube..?? Win, win? -

Rain will be a problem, if you fully believe the weather forecast yesterday..... That's a forecast produced over 55 hours before tapes up.... -

Chance of heavy, thundery showers, possibly getting organised into longer spells of rain early afternoon.. So, call it off now, save people leaving their houses at 6.30pm and wasting 1 hour of their lives.. -

Lions riders (other than the reserves) should, and probably do feel embarrassed at their recent performances, and you're right, the track should suit their styles better. If the 1-5 can get 35 between them, that's only an ave score of 7, and Starke and Auty can get 7 or 8 each, we win!!!! I predict a close match, but Lions pip the Aces by 48 points to 42 points....!!!! Ok, ok, i've got me coat!! -
I was just using your post as the foundations for illustrating how strong Poole are, and who Kyle has to do better than to get into their 1-5, that's all, not a dig at your post SCB...

Shale Searcher replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Thanks; Did you get any further rain after that or just before or during the meeting? Thanks -
Doesn't this sort of statement of who Kyle Newman has to beat to get into the Poole 1-5, just highlights the total inequalities of the teams in the Elite League?
