  1. And that is the problem, Doyley let rip when Wolverhampton called off late, dry day, threat of rain, that did arrive, but surely, as a professional rider, you get your kit ready, and travel to a meeting and if it is called off, well, you made the effort to go to work.... Obviously, there are occasions when a weather forecast is absolutely set in stone, and a club calls it off at lunchtime on the day, but it should NEVER be called off 24/48/72 hours before start time based on a forecast that at best, that far ahead is only ever going to be 10, maybe 15% accurate.. Speedway has turned into oval road racing, no dirt, no bumps, and heaven forbid no wet shale!!
  2. I know it is, but 450 spectators? That's got to be borderline on run/not run? At, and I agree, Scunney is a great little racetrack, done a few laps there myself, but if they can only attract 450 spectators, and I bet there's a few in there for free, how can they survive? Or, say 1,000 at an Elite League track... Something has to be done, and done quickly, otherwise we won't have a sport left....!! I don't have any answers, except, I can't believe how many people I bump into through my work, haven't heard of, or know what speedway is, but don't know where there local track is!! I kid you not....
  3. Ok, so if the Premier League is so much better to watch, cheaper to get in, closer racing, the place to be.... How come that Scunthorpe, who supposedly have the best racing track in the UK for close racing, why did their match against Peterborough on Sunday 10th April 2016 (yesterday) Only attract a crowd of around 450 spectators??? This really needs answering.....
  4. Sorry, didn't make myself clear, a picture into an actual post...
  5. Ooooooh, errrrrrrrrrr!!!! Just clicked on the speedwayp link at the bottom, so far so good, then clicked on "no brakes uk" link, and it directed me to a very, very, very RUDE, EXPLICIT, NAUGHTY SEX SITE!!!! Thats not good, not suitable for anyone under 30 yrs old!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. If Auty or Starke, or both get Knocks, we're really stuffed down the drain and a hard place!!
  7. When I was younger, I used to really look forward to going to the speedway, if the weather was iffy, the conversations were about which team would adapt better to a heavy track, would the rain give the advantage to the visiting team, a leveller, would any of our riders be able to find their gating gloves... It was never, well, this will be cancelled because we've had a bit of rain, we looked forward to seeing a different kind of meeting.. We never expected a rain off, we always looked forward to a different kind of meeting..
  8. Ok, not a lot of interest in this thread. To open the subject up a bit, what is the main reason riders do not like riding on wet, heavy, slippery tracks? Is it visibility, is it grip? If its a combination of both, then surely the once saviour of speedway, the dirt deflector needs an update, and also the tyres used, why not have a wet track tyre available? If the visibility issue could be resolved, then I'm sure the tyre issue could be as well???
  9. His problem he failed to finish races!! Once he got cut adrift by 20+ yards he capitulated, knocked the throttle off and pulled onto the centre green!! No effort, didn't even stay on the same lap, just in case there was an incident and a rerun, or A genuine E.F and the chance to get a point! I don't have anything against riders that are trying, scoring 0000 if they battled for their 0's He obviously wasn't right, and in the past, we've persevered with riders to long and been chastised by fans. I personally like Greg, but something was definitely not right and the parting will hopefully help the Lions and give Greg Walasek time to sort his own demons out.....
  10. The rain the Midlands is getting overnight tonight/Monday early hours is going to fizzle out, I don't expect the amount of rain that will fall will be anywhere near the amount initially forecast.. So basically no rain after 4am.. Then it will be dry for most of the day, a small chance of a shower around lunchtime, and then, the rain moving into the Midlands for the evening, I think will stay mostly west of Coventry... I think an early call off will/would be an insult to speedway fans and would show Coventrys management a lack of commitment to try and get meetings on....
  11. >48T is a little more reliable than >72T, but a lot depends on the general weather set up.. At this time of the year, it's (the weather) is in A transitional state, very fluid, very unpredictable. The jet stream, polar vortex, el nino, the azores, it's a right old melting pot, and a shift of only a few milibars either way can change a forecast drastically...
  12. Well, any score predictions? Will Doyle be able to ride the new turns 3 & 4? Will it rain? Will Sky cancel? Will Walasek still be in the Lions 1-7? Will the Lions get their first points on the board? I predict A Lions win, 48-42. I will do A Weather forecast on Tuesday afternoon...
  13. That weather forecast is >72T ! To early to be believed! As low as 15% reliability at that distance..
  14. Been up at the track all day today, any lying water has been removed, some remedial work on 3 and 4 before the boys got down to some serious practise.. Rain forecast for overnight tonight, so we'll get rid of any more water that overstays it's welcome in the morning. Forecast for race day is ok, sunny intervals, chance of a shower, temps between 10c and 14c, less windy than of late.. Should be a cracking meeting!!!!!!!! I'll update weather, but only if the forecast changes from above.
  15. Hi, is there a way of opening these without dropbox? I have security issues with dropbox and I no longer have it.... Cheers.
  16. Totally reasonable procedure to protect Coventry Speedway from the crooks...
  17. Why were they selling tickets still from the ticket office, they must have known the Belle Vue v Leicester match was already a gonna.... Cheaky foooooookers!!!
  18. Well, couldn't believe Belle Vue have postponed tonight's meeting v Leicester.. Based on a slightly iffy forecast. With their state of the art drainage, even without covers, as long as it's not raining at the start, they should have no major problems..?? What's the real reason for these advanced rain offs?

  20. Thanks SCB, I will start a rain-off thread then.....
  21. That's just about your lot now, maps with rain symbols are a very very rough guide, you need to delve deeper to get more accurate, and a less generalised forecast....
  22. Chance for copping a heavy/thundery Shower or two between now and 9pm.. Cross fingers they miss Owlerton..
