  1. Same here, and had a painful experience, broke 3 ribs and punctured the plueritic lining on my lung!! Did get straight back on my horse though.... I have every respect to anyone who's swung their leg over a speedway machine....
  2. Ok, so that's the sky deal up the spout (less than 8 teams) and that's providing Swindon and Lakeside have a track to race on.... + a team would need shoe-horning into the EL to make it back up to 8 teams....? Who would be prepared to take that step? Maybe with a financial hitch up from the BSPA, but that would be on dodgy ground.....?
  3. To be fair, it's no different to the football, top of the table much more likely to be covered than the bottom end of the table until the run in.. But speedway doesn't have relegation, so no crucial bottom of the table survival matches, nothing at stake for the bottom 3 to 4 teams.... Perhaps promotion/relegation would give speedway a boost and a give it a less Mickey mouse tag.. ??
  4. Weather forecast for Purfleet today.. Dull, with the chance of a heavy shower in the morning, up to around 12:00/13:00 (Best sort of track watering on the earth for speedway) The afternoon and evening looks dry to me, possibility the sun may poke through late afternoon, giving the temp a boost up to around 15c, shouldn't be any issues weatherwise for Lakeside v Wolves this evening, shouldn't be any Sun breaks either!
  5. The "no crossing the centre green" rule has been introduced to prevent injury to centre green staff, medics, sponsors from getting hit... Also to protect riders from colliding with centre green equipment, cables, etc..
  6. I work on the track, race days and some other days.. Davey Watt rode last night with a bit of fire in his belly, when he came 2nd on two occasions, he was very vocal under his helmet, which shows his head and heart are now getting closer to being in the right place, when he ran a last in heat 15, he was also very vocal coming off track, angry with himself, for not holding on to a point scoring position... He did ok last night, and if he continues to improve, and swear under his helmet when it goes wrong and shows fight, then I'm sure he will recapture his old form...
  7. Tai has always ridden well in SWC events, but I think that's more for Monster than it is for Team GB...
  8. I have a proper scrapbook on Ole Olsen, anyone interested in buying it?
  9. Winter is what happened!! Do they get rid of puddles during the winter? That's where the damage gets done.. The laying water has the time to soak deep into the base, and the base then doesn't get an opportunity to dry out/cure before it's ridden on, any weak areas where water has contaminated the base is straight away vulnerable to rear tyres, graders, and the material is the first to get ejected, then the base is ejected, doesn't matter how many times the holes/dips/ruts are filled and packed, that area gets evacuated of material every meeting... Maybe if you have a 4-5 week break with no racing, and no significant rain, and the affected areas are prepped, filled and given the time to cure, it may just solve the problem...
  10. Bit like what happens at Scunthorpe at the moment then....
  11. Call it off now, 52% chance of rain between 17:00hrs and 22:00hrs. Nobody likes watching speedway in the wet, and riders don't like riding in the wet..!! Everyone can go and book cinima seats, arrange a pub crawl, put some shelves up, anything other than watching speedway.!!
  12. Calm down peeps... As it stands, Tai has let his British Fans down by opting out of League Racing in his Home Country.. Ok, we will at least see him in the British Championship, oh, no, wait a minute, he has won that 3 times already, and says he wants to give someone else a chance of winning it!! That's not borderline arrogance, that's damn right disrespectful to the other British Riders!! But, not all is lost, he says he will still represent Team GB in the SWC, Wow!! That's big of him.... On balance, I think he has burnt his bridges with British Speedway, and yes, he shouldn't be picked to ride for Team GB in this year's SWC because of his disrespect to British Speedway....
  13. Welcome back to the madhouse as well BB2!! From Shale Searcher....!!
  14. I saw the postings on this subject, written indeed by flagrag, I thinks it's in the "should Tai ride for team GB" thread, just confirming it did/does exist... If I remember it was a joint deal with Sky/BSPA + he chose which EL club to ride for, and he would also receive the clubs deal as well as the Sky/BSPA package....
  15. Did anyone see the photos on FB earlier with Nicki P and his brolly, absolutely lobbing it down, pits, track flooded, still lobbing it down, but blue sky in horizon, he said ******** are fixing the track shortly.. Well firstly, I think it was in Sweden, were these photos of the here and now? And did they then race? If they did, then why, why, do the buggers fein and go all "it's too wet" to race over here?? (NP) obviously doesn't race here, but I bet one or two of the other 13 do...!!!!
  16. Do sky advertise speedway at any other times except when a meeting is on? I never see it advertised during a footie, rugger, cricket, or any other sport....? You don't see it advertised on any of sky's other non-sport channels like the Premier League footie/cricket gets.. I will stand corrected if they do, but I cannot remember any, except maybe Cardiff? Even that may have been multiple season ago....
  17. So there you have a list of people that are allegedly on your side.. (Swindon Speedways New track) Get their email addresses, postal addresses, and keep badgering them, don't allow them for one iota to think you no longer care....
  18. Seems to me from watching the meeting last night at Poole, that a lot of the problems could be caused by over watering, and, this is important, with the track surrounded by structures with varying height/width that some areas of the track seem to be in some sort of perma-shade, some in bright sunshine and some in partial Sun/shade... This would cause real issues with track surface consistency... (Wet, deep, slick, rutty, wavy, etc) If this is the case, the track needs special attention, and varied watering, rather than just flooding the whole track...
  19. You need to keep badgering the people that need badgering, the minute you stop because you think it's in the bag, and bang! the dozers are in and its the end.... Don't give em any excuse, keep at em, keep at em, and to be on the safe side, keep at em. Don't think, well, Sid and Eric are on top of it, or Geoff and Doreen, are at em, everyone, keep at em!!
  20. If you're on updates, why would you be on here at the same time? That's just ridiculous!!! Closed shops are a thing of the past....
  21. Only asked as a small thunderstorm seemed to clip Poole as it made its way into the sea......
