Not sure, in fact I'm pretty positive water in the base wouldn't work, but I bet wet sand would help? Does anyone think that the panel lifting is only a problem when you have concrete/solid boards behind the fence panels.....? I'm not 100% this is the case, but I'm sure the problem is worse where this sort of fence set-up is in situ...

That shouldn't happen!!! The fence panel lifted violently, and Bomber vanished under it! If nobody had seen him go under it, you wouldn't have known the crash had happened! The panels should be held down at the back with eyes that are captured by a shepherds crook, and locked into the mesh fence or an metal eye that's counter sunk into the concrete, or buy the aforementioned shepherds crook through a hole in the wooden boards, no way should that panel have bounced up the way it did...... There should/needs to be an extra layer of protection at the base of the panels (between the bottom of the air fence and track surface) but their isn't.. I suggest a wedge, made out of some sort of semi-rigid foam, with the pointy edge of the wedge against whatever the panel is in front of, the rubber kickboards would then rest on that. The rubber kickboards could also be made a bit wider, so they lay on top of the shale a bit deeper into the track. In my opinion....

A agree about airfences lifting, if they are attached properly, checked thoroughly after (any) impact lifting should not be the problem it can be... Even a slight impact can break the grip on the heavy duty velcro fastenings, plastic buckles snap (weakened) by constant exposure to the sun maybe, poorly fitted rubber kickboards, rear hooks jolting out, top hooks breaking/moving, shale getting compacted under the rubber kickboards, the number of parts that can be damaged, loosened off, incorrectly fitted, checked, poorly repaired.. is quite high, and, its a big and, after an impact, the airfence panels need checking each side of the impact up to at least 4, maybe 5 panels each side of the impact....!!! Also, blower fittings, and air fence air pipes (link the panels together) can become dislodged, so not enough air is transferred from panel to panel, there's loads that can fail, especially if not thoroughly checked after even the lightest/smallest impact on the air fence.....

Belle Vue V Lakeside Wed 3rd August

That's not a bad shout!! They'd have to be there then, as it would be the cool place to be... Same with pubs, clubs, X rated films, buying fags, booze, porn......!! If they are not supposed to have it, or be there, they'll have it and be there!!!!! -
It matters to presentation!! Even with an old stadium like Kings Lynn, a clean and neat looking fence, a clean, freshly painted white line (kerb at some tracks) and A clean and tidy centre green (grey) in Lynn's case... Makes it all look a lot more professional and welcoming...

Hasn't SCB written some software that can do just that? The uneven, unprofessional way the fixture list is compiled today, especially as there's only 8 teams in the league, is quite laughable.... SCB, couldn't you do a mock up of how the fixture list could be compiled...... Taking into account fixture clashes, GP's etc, obviously you would have problems with no clashing dates to work with, but coy could base it on last season? With all dates already there.....

How old is your fence now? The air fence that's not an air fence, it's full of polystyrene balls or some other exotic material... I know they are given use by dates, so to speak, but I think the Lynn fence is looking really tired, old, and tatty looking these days, especially on the tellybox....Anyone else agree that it makes the track area look amateur and uncared for.....?

Modern day riders, management and the supporters are getting further apart than ever. The speedway family is no longer a close knit group, and club togetherness is at an all time low.. Meetings are now just another payday for riders... Team race suits are just real estate for riders sponsors, no longer worn with pride...

Workington V Newcastle Pl 6/8/16 7pm
Shale Searcher replied to Comet Dan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Just having a browse through the PL results this week. The admission to this meeting was reduced to £10 in for adults and £1 for children... Yes? I don't seem to have found any real comments to the size of the crowd.. I gather from some chatter that conditions weren't ideal with the on/off rain, but what was the rough size of the crowd compared to a normal race night admission? -
Guests for injured no 1's, 3's and 5's only, or R/R. R/R only for 2's and 4's, No 6 and 7 should bring in a kid from clubs national league team, or nominated national league team if club does not have one... No facility except R/R if 1, 3, 5 riding in any other meeting except FIM competition.... That would make teams think about signings, and meeting planning.... On to tonight, a Lions win by 12 points, weather set fair, NO rain, drizzle, hail, sleet, snow, graupal, heavy fog, light fog anywhere near Beaumont Park!!!! A pleasant 18c to 20c by 7.30pm no real breeze so it will feel warm..

Should Greg Hancock Ride For Usa?
Shale Searcher replied to John Leslie's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
It's rooted in the Elite League though, isn't it...... When a rider rides as the Tac Sub, if his team mate is ahead of him, he will slow to allow the Tac Sub rider to pass and therefore get more points.. That needs binning first.... -
Should Tai Woffinden Ride For Team Gb ?

Re: Jason Doyle's comments.... I've never liked the bloke since he deliberately covered me in wet shale at Leicester [riding for Somerset] (That's another story) and since he lost his rag over the lines left by rakers at Leicester, riding for Leicester, [they put him off!] (That's another, nother story!) But that statement was a bit mardy arsed if you ask me...... -
