  1. Rain should be stopping in around an hour.... So (16:30) Manchester time.....!
  2. You lot, sometimes I wonder..... Wether or not clubs can afford them at the moment is not important. The track cover debate is years old!!!! If tracks had invested in them say 10 years ago, with money earned through say "Sky" how many more of "todays" could of been saved....? Say 2 meetings a season per club? + may not have lost fans who are/were fed up of rain offs when the weather is fine cum race time... + Skybet may still have been involved as league sponsor.. + meetings ran in poor conditions, May have gone ahead with good conditions. + money promotors paid out to riders/officials for travel expenses on rain offs It was a hypothetical question, and it wouldn't have done any harm to speedway, would it...
  3. That plan could backfire, as the only time to see GP riders would be on the Saturday night!! They may only then attend the further watered down league on GP off nights!!!!! Rock/Hard place.... Doesn't seem to be much middle ground at all..
  4. The thing is, Belle Vue is not protected at the moment, but their track can handle copious amounts of the wet stuff..... This weather-proofness, may deteriorate with age though as drains become clogged, and less efficient. Regular rodding and other remedial work will need to be done to the drainage system ongoing...... The covers will help as less clay will get washed out the track and down the drains.....
  5. Most of the rain is forecast to have passed through the UK by teatime, could ALL of tonight's fixtures gone ahead if track covers had have been used?
  6. Robobee, Jason Doyle's first yr in the GP's whilst at Leicester, we planned our home fixtures around the GP nights, and our night is GP night, your meetings at home are mainly Friday night's which is official practise day for the GP's, so I don't see why you could not do a similar thing?? Can you think why Cov couldn't do something similar for KK?
  7. A fair question... Perhaps Neil Watson can respond and let us know what has changed since he posted the optimistic message saying the track had been prepped for rain and would go ahead this evening? Not having a go, or criticising, just interested in the timeline to being called off..... Thanks in advance Neil..
  8. When Sky first came out, installers were making hay, but as sky dishes became more popular, there were less people to sell it to, Inc a number of the population that didn't want sky, consequently, New installs slowed down, I would hazard a guess that is what happened with Swedish speedway.. less people left to get into speedway Then when HD came out, there was another spike in new installs, I think Swedish speedway reached a set point, and it will fluctuate from here on in, lose a few/gain a few moving forward..
  9. Don't understand the "quote" on BSF, never turns out right when I try!!
  10. That's a really good question.... If he doesn't line up for Wolves, will they get a replacement facility?? It's not GP night, or Practise night, so I'm not sure....?
  11. Dept for Work and Pensions! That's the only acronym of DWP I know!!
  12. [quote name="Danny Smith" post="2832222" timestamp="1471554698" Slick and dusty The weather forecast for today had no rain in it for much if not all of England, especially dry and warm near east coast, so why slick and dusty? Thats not a track type created for a Kings Lynn side by request?
  13. An injured Bomber Harris got 9+1 from 4 rides, and that was riding injured with busted ribs/bruising.. You can't knock the fella for his commitment, and taking the guest booking, perhaps nobody else would? Iversen has gone off the boil by the looks of it.. What was the track like tonight?
  14. Thought I'd revisit this subject, especially now we've seen Fast Freddie mounted on it for a while.... FF seems to be going rather well on the Gerhard, it seems pretty fast and pretty reliable (thus far) Are there any other riders currently riding the Gerhard engine, anywhere in the World if needs be?
  15. Has his Swedish and Polish clubs not made there play-offs??
  16. Heavy rain in Manchester Friday from breakfast time (08:00ish) until early/mid afternoon (15:00ish) then a gradual drying up, but still a chance of an isolated shower up until late evening (22:00ish) So Belle Vue have a fair chance of a meeting.
  17. The weather tomorrow is dire from breakfast until dinnertime, then it improves afternoon/evening.. So a well tyre packed track should fend off waterlogging if it runs off track down the banking and down the drains.. Typical though isn't it? We've had some nice weather recently and no damn Elite League racing, and now the fixtures go into overdrive, the poor weather returns with a vengeance!!!
  18. *******||******** Is 2017 the last year of Rosco's tenure as manager of TeamGB? **********||**********
  19. Saturdays weather is very fluidic at the moment, literally changing by the hour... So a forecast now is going to be pretty unreliable.... I will give a forecast tomorrow afternoon (Friday) which should be a touch more reliable.. If I'd have had to make a decision to run Saturday or not earlier in the week, I'd have postponed the meeting, however now, the weather is nowhere near as bad as it was (for Leicester area) that is..
  20. Surely, he wouldn't be allowed to claim expenses travelwise, except from his UK home address to Belle Vue and back home.... So around 160 miles @ 48p tops.. Surely he wasn't expecting travel costs from Poland or where ever else he rides in Europe....
