  1. Promotors don't think ahead in my opinion, it's all now, now, me, me, and now, now.. They don't generally think about next week, let alone next year and beyond! How many of the BSPA promoters do it full-time? I bet there's not many, if any?? They mostly have other interests outside the speedway fraternity, and cannot devote as much time, money into speedway as they would like... So, why don't promotors hire in someone full time to run it for them? Well, again it's down to money.. If a promotor, hired someone in to run there club a a business, they would need to pay them, and they would want paying well, but chicken/egg rules in speedway.. If someone came into a club, that could generate £100,000 in sponsoreship, build a succesful team, and generated regular crowds of around over 3,500 Inc a minimum of 2,900 full paying adults every week, he would probably want a min of 35k + car + expenses, would that be unreasonable as a minimum?? Just wondered....... What do you reckon someone should gain out of what is a full time position? Obviously you have the off season to take into account, but just what could be achieved if clubs were ran in this sort of vein?
  2. What are conditions like in Kings Lynn at the moment? I'm in Leicester, and at the moment, any convection that is required to trigger heavy rain and thunderstorms is reduced locally at the moment... We have grey, cloud laden skies, which is stopping any of the nasty weather developing...... And if it stays like this, we won't be getting the thunderstorms... So, depending what Kings Lynn have at the moment, will have a huge influence in what you get later on... So it's not all doom and gloom weatherwise.... 😃
  3. Heavy rain and thunderstorms forecast for a swathe across the Midlands and across to the wash area.. Problem with this sort of set-up is that accuracy relating to the locations of the heavy showers and thunderstorms is nigh on impossible to nail down before they develop!! You could end up with a "train" of heavy rain or a "train" of thunderstorms hitting an area, when 5 miles down the road remains dry through the forecast period!! It's all about nowcasting and keeping an eye on the "High Resolution" Rain/lightning radars..
  4. Do people seriously not go to meetings if there's traffic problems!! No wonder the sports on its knees.!!
  5. If Poole bought in Milik for Pedal bike, would Milik initially be at reserve?
  6. Well, at the moment the weather forecast is ok for the Leicester area, mostly dry, temps up around 20c/21c partly sunny/partly cloudy.. I think Leicester will scrape a win, their home form is a damn site better than their away form.. Anyone know if both teams are full strength?
  7. And there lies one of the biggest problems, most promotors promoting do it as a second job or hobby.... They cannot commit 100% of their efforts into their promotion, and I would imagine few turn a profit at the end of the season.. I would imagine as well that at this stage of a season, not many promotions have any cash left for advertising, new shale, maintenance etc and rely even more on the good will they get from volunteers, doners, etc.....
  8. I don't think he hates him, I don't think any true speedway fans, hate any riders... Now respecting riders, is another issue completely, you can not hate someone, but not respect them..
  9. You'll be ok now, the cap is not broken in the Poole area.... Good luck to the patched up Lions..
  10. Met Office data outage at the moment, no hush resolution radar available...
  11. A lot of the rain is being dried out before it gets to the ground (for the time being) still dryish in Poole?
  12. Yes, didn't want to be to pessimistic, the rain heading across the channel will die off as it reaches UK, before prepping right back up to Thunderstorm/s if it can break the cap, that's the million dollar question....
  13. Weather could yet again haunt this fixture... Thunderstorms could break out later today down on the south coast, gradually moving inland as the evening progresses, very hit and miss, and will only occur locally where the capping is eroded to allow deep convection....
  14. It was once the UK's "Jewel in the Crown" as far as racing surfaces go.. Now, it's devolved into a "Fastest Motors Wins" kind of track.. The shale quality is not what it was, and its lost a lot of its banking as well.. Just Another "Rocket Ship" track now. ***********Weather Alert************ With temps up moving into the 30C Mark Weds/Thurs of this week, and a weak weather front sliding down the Country, when it reaches a line from Cromer across through the Midlands and through north Wales it bumps into the very warm to hot airmass that has drifted up from Spain/France, thunderstorms will trigger along and around that line where hot meets cool. Although the day will remain Hot, and humid, these storms will break out later in the day/evening once the cap erodes... These storms will contain heavy rain, cloud to ground lightning, and could develop into large, slow moving storms, dropping copious amounts of rain, in a very short space of time. As with this sort of set-up, some areas will miss these storms, and some will cop more than one!! Difficult to exactly where these will hit, but at the moment that's where they will probably break out..
  15. Tai is back for one reason only, his European leagues are now into the play off stages, one team is in, one isn't, so he's just maintaining his weekly racing level.. Ok, it benefits Wolverhampton, but that is a by-product of the situation. Wonder if the added numbers to the attendance, provides enough additional revenue to pay his wage....?
  16. It spotlights the size issue when you see races from Monmore interspersed with races from Swindon, scalextrix speedway!! Straights you go to quick, bang on the brakes and enter the corners backwards!! Even Woffinden looked out of control in his first couple of rides.... I know variety is the spice of life, but I cannot get used to seeing small track speedway..
  17. Watching on the tv, don't you find that a Wolverhampton race in between 2 Swindon races shows just how small and tight Monmore is? When you see a normal 15 races from Monmore, your brain gets used to it and it looks to ride big, but it's tiny and really is a case of slamming the bike into reverse going into corners....
  18. Track looked really bumpy/wavy going into turn 3, I think Tungates puncture wasn't a puncture, but the seal between the rim/tyre getting unseated on the turn 3 entry bumps...
