  1. Riders racing for more than one club is still the "BIG" killer in my mind.. I try and not talk about this element when discussing my sport with friends that are not speedway fans (this happens frequently, as I am quite involved in speedway, on a voluntary basis) so having days off work (hols) occasionally leaving early (weeknight meetings) speedway is frequently involved in my conversations..... Explaining we didn't have one or two of our riders last night, due to the fact they were (playing) for another team, and quite likely, the riders we borrowed from another team or two, just doesn't make sense to them, does not go down well, or sit right with them as fans of other team sports.. Why do you put up with it? I'm asked... That's just how they earn their money, racing for "other" teams as well as my team!! Until riders ride for just one team, I doubt it will ever recover and/or become media food..
  2. When rock solid facts are missing, they're usually replaced by rumours, scandal and untruths.
  3. Criteria in order should be:... 1) Owned By. 2) If not owned by either, same league as owned by. 3) If not owned at all (except BSPA), first signed for. If club meeting clash, same as above.
  4. Gone are the days when if riders didn't have their helmets on, they were puffing away on a Woodbine!! Can't remember the last rider I saw smoke.... Yes I can, it was Simon Lambert.... Being fitter has to help, even if it's just to help "arm pump" or help you breathe better, more effectively.... I packed in smoking 4 years ago, albeit with the help of an ecig.. I needed to get from the pits bend to the 4th bend at Leicester after a bad smash, think Woffy was involved, by the time I arrived, I was f****d! Could barely do anything I was so out of breath.!! I believe it must improve a riders chances, performance if they are fit, but I don't think being super fit is necessary, looking at some riders today, there's nowt to them, light as feathers, can't help them when they fall, I'm sure that contributes to the number of broken bones these days..
  5. So, some promoters knew something was amiss at the NSS, and allegedly refused to take any tickets to sell to their fans.. What was it that they knew, and why did they keep it to themselves? Why didn't they discuss it with other BSPA members, ask for an extraordinary meeting to vex, or to sort out the problem/s then? Just wondering why they kept it to themselves, whilst it also festered away, and probably got worse, as the season went on... Why didn't any of them bring the problem up???
  6. Whilst the sports competitors ride for more than one team, it will never be taken seriously by other sports fans.. That is the main crux of the matter.... It makes the sport look amateurish, and dilutes the "my team" ethos.. speedway has lost its tribalness..
  7. I would be ok with Sedgemen, and even a Kurtz (of the Todd variety) Don't think Simon Lambert is a good choice or a good fit.. I am not keen on getting Shlien, only because in my opinion he is to fragile now, and is not interested if there's rain within a 100 mile radius...
  8. As has been said, completely ripped up, and re-written.. Last season, didn't get them until season start.. They won't be completely ripped up and re-written, but, I think any changes will be discussed in depth, scenario'd, more than once, with different conditions, discussed again, modified, scenario'd again before a final discussion before being inked in.. Let's not pressure them into rash rules, and just patiently await the speedway bible...
  9. Actually, it's a very good question.. Team A has 2 key riders that also ride for team B. In a relegation/promotion final, who gets them.... Especially if it's a high flying PL second string and 3rd heat leader but the CL teams number 1 and 2nd heat leader!!!!
  10. Unless you knock everything down, widen the track, install armco, then a race fans protection fence, apply for change of use for the land behind the stands and install a huge pit/parking area (for the race vehicles, and their transporters, and rescue vehicles, change the entrance areas, apply for permission for race vehilcles, recovery vehicles, etc to continually cross the path that runs from the car park up to the stadium entrance, disabled parking areas, probably have to install further sound prevention fencing) Anything I have missed off? More chance of LCFC winning this year's PL, and Lions winning PL, and the World announcing that Alien life already lives amongst us!!!!!!
  11. I won a pair of Cardiff tickets once, it was the year me and my friend couldn't afford to go! I won them in the "Sun" the Saturday before Cardiff!!! Had to name the current world champ I think? NP was the answer.....
  12. Remember Rolf Gramstad of Leicester? Got hit by Zednek Kundra doing a practice start in long track meeting, or was it grass track? However, he never rode again, got paralysed... He was a great prospect for Leicester....
  13. Perhaps other clubs refused to sell tickets on behalf of Belle Vue because they had an idea of the debt level at BV? And didn't want the ticket money, not to go to rider wages? But, I thought any track including the holding track would be selling the BF tickets on behalf of the BSPA as it was a BSPA Event?
  14. Ooooh!! I had forgotten about that, how long did they last under that particular umbrella?
  15. Are the "250CC" riders expected to race against the "500CC" riders?
  16. Why don't they give it a go as a "BEST PAIRS HANDICAP" meeting? Have pair from Premiership and Championship involved? Rather than have different starting points to differentiate between the riders abilities, add some weight to the Premiership riders bikes? Could be based on their average? Could this type of event work?
  17. Is the "Ben Fund" invitation only regards competitors? Or do the "Riders" ask if they can enter?
  18. "Moggo" Alan Mogridge, always seemed to be on his backside, or in the fence, always seemed unlucky to me....
  19. "OR" Is it someone else? Wonder if a big Polish Rider might encourage a few of the Leicester "Polish" massive out to the track? Someone like the great "TOMASZ GOLLOB" Not doing GP's or SEC this year, is he......? What average would he come in on? A Poole/Wolves type average, or rest of Premiership average?
  20. And of course, the furthest!! I suppose they could sort of "Cup Tie" the riders, and prevent them riding for either club on the night?
  21. Yes, whatever happened to that project? Was it still Kings Lynn in all but name? And it's results embedded in Kings Lynn's history? Or was it classed as a different club, with its own set of stats, and is therefore another "Defunct" club?
