Workington v Leicester 10/06/2023 3pm
Happy Hunter replied to topaz325's topic in National League Speedway
It's the fans, his team mates and the Club who have been badly let down! It doesn't reflect very well on Speedway as a professional sport either! -

I might be wrong here but I don't think that the riders vans are parked in the pits at Leicester. There's not enough room for starters! -

Be interesting to see how Morris gets on for Birmingham tonight! -

I think you will find DT is out with concussion sustained at Peterbough on Monday last week. He's not riding for either of Leicester's teams this week. -
Glad Joe got a 15 point max against strong opposition, including beating his Birmingham team mate. It looked dodgy after 4 races but the Cubs rallied well. If Dan and Vinnie had been riding it would have been.a bigger winning margin.

Roynon will do a job gor the Cubs but I don't expect him to come up with any heroics if he doesn't make the gate. I can understand why, he's had some horrific crashes over the years. I'm not expecting much from Ward. I suspect James will get five rides. As a result I think the score could be quite close. I'm hoping Joe Thompson has a good night as I think it will do his confidence a load of good.

Leicester lions 2023 (PREMIERSHIP)
Happy Hunter replied to PhilTheAce's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I went to Peterbough last Monday to see Panthers v Lion's. It.had been a long time since I last went to the EoEA and thought it was a good idea to have male and female Panther mascots. Isn't it about time that the Lion's found a suitable companion for our Lenny? Or are things too complicated gender wise these days? -
I've got my quota of things that might come in useful in the garage as well but not, unfortunately, a proper grandstand! It's a shame the original plans for the stadium never came to fruition!

You might be interested to know that the marker post from Blackbird Road is in my garage. It's a white disc with a red centre. It's alongside one of the lamp shades that came from the track lights. I scrounged them off the demolition firm when the were tearing the stadium down. At one stage there was talk of a speedway museum in the plans for the new track at Beaumont Leys but that, along with other things in the original plans, never came to fruition. So they remain in my garage!

Dan Thompson out for 12 days due to being concussed at Peterborough last night. I think that means he misses the next three Cub's meetings.

I thought there would be a sun break but we got that wrong. Let's hope sun breaks are now a thing of the past! -
BSN televise a meeting. Eurosport/Discovery run a meeting! BSN every time for me!

Looking forward to the first sun break of the season!

Leicester v Lynn 11/05/23

A drying wind too but you can't win when there is a Met Office warning for thunderstorms for most of Central and Eastern England. -
Surely it's up to the ref to get meetings over quickly if there's a threat of rain? I've been home from each of the three Lion's home meetings by round about 21.30. I stayed until the end and then walked to my car, which was not on the track car park. I live 4 miles from the track so the meetings must have finished not long after 21.00 which I should think compares favourably with other tracks.

The future of British Speedway after the 2023 season
Happy Hunter replied to TTT's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Short answer is no! I think Hemsley had something like a 99 year lease from the Council and the present promoters have a 14 year sub-lease. The track is built on the site of a Victorian sewage effluent disposal farm and is contaminated with heavy metals and isn't fit for housing development. -

Leicester don't own their stadium. It's leased from David Hemsleys company who in turn lease it from Leicester City Council. -

I'm four miles from the track and it's been raining steadily since before first race time. I think you wrong to be so critical this time Lenny! -
Leicester vs Belle Vue 19/4/23
Happy Hunter replied to Lenny Lion's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
My eyesight Is not as good as it used to be but I'm sure the Lion's team manager was driving the tractor last night. I would have thought he should have been in the pits sorting his team out! It's bad enough riders doubling up but how many team managers do? -

I've heard it suggested that Aces deliberately let Lions have a 4.2 in heat 13 so that they could use a tactical sub in heat 14. If they did, it turned out to be a very smart move on Mark Lemons part!
