  1. As there is no Leicester v Eastbourne thread I am going to predict on here that Lewis Blackbird will have 7 rides tonight and score a third of Eastbourne's points.
  2. Those of you who have read Alan Jones books on the history of speedway in Leicester will know that even the Blackbird Road track was tweaked on more than one occasion.
  3. I thought that this, which was posted on the Lions 2014 page, might amuse you all if you have not seen it already! jim the whipper, on 19 Jun 2014 - 09:20 AM, said:
  4. I'm fed up with all the comment about the track on individual meeting threads. I am going to be really radical and try to look for something positive. If Jason Doyle had been riding for us and we had a half decent no.5 and they had scored 15 points between them as opposed to the 8 scored by last night's guests (not too difficult I would have thought) Leicester would have won 49 to 40. Also pleasing to see the reserves equalling the score of the two KL reserves who are among the best in the league.
  5. Does anyone know how Max Clegg is? Waiting for something on the Lion's website is like waiting for paint to dry! Just seen that Max is guesting for Edinburgh tonight so he must be o.k.
  6. Good I always thought that Bondy was under rated!
  7. Totally agree with this. I checked the Met Office forecast when I left home at 2.00 p.m. and they were still forecasting a dry spell between 3.00 & 5.00 p.m.
  8. I have got a great deal of sympathy with nightshift on this. Having said that the promotion were fairly quick in response to Jason's crash but why on earth do they leave us to rely on the rumours and hearsay and so called insider knowledge on this web site to find out what's happening with the club that we support? For example in last week's Speedway Star the Team Manager was reported as saying that Peter Ljung was unlikely to return (nothing on the web site!). And we read on here that Paddy is also likely not to come back. Why don't the club tell us what's going on - even if they just say that A & B are not coming back, we are hoping to sign two new riders in time for the meeting at Swindon on the 22nd. If we can't get them signed in time we will use guests/RR. Surely they can also tell us who they have ruled out and the reasons e.g. we can only sign one more doubling up rider, rider X has a lot of Saturday commitments etc. etc. I live in hope!
  9. Looks, from this week's Speedway Star, as if it will be Masters.
  10. Masters has a 9.0 Premier League average at Beaumont Park.
  11. It would be nice to have something on the LIon's web site about the progress that the injured riders are making. Deafening silence about Tom Perry. Now see report on Lions web site http://leicesterlions.co/tom-breaks-his-collarbone/
  12. Sadly I thought it was one of the better ones as well. Certainly better than the other two I have seen against Coventry & Eastbourne.
  13. No - But I object to standing around for over 30 minutes waiting for the meeting to start. There are alternatives. Even the people who built Stonehenge knew when & where the sun was going to rise & set on a particular day so why don't the promoters fix the start time for later or earlier at the times of the year when the sun is a problem?
  14. If we get another sunny evening what time do you reckon the first race will start? It was 7.40 p.m. against the Bees & 8.05 p.m. against Eastbourne. Perhaps 7.30 p.m. with an half hour interval after the second heat?
  15. There is now a report about the break in on the Leicester Mercury website - http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/Burglars-leave-trail-destruction-Leicester-s/story-21033146-detail/story.html
  16. I didn't think that, when I posted news of the break in, that it would degenerate into yet another debate about the track!
  17. Just heard on BBC East Midlands News that there has been a break in at the track. Over £40k worth of goods & tools stolen.
  18. If the size of the crowd stays the same as yesterday I can see the buggy going back to whence it came! If we do get red, blue, white & yellow will the red & blue ones be for home supporters and white & yellow for away fans? Also after how many journeys from the car park to the stadium can we have a tactical buggy. I could go on but it would only get really silly!
  19. You should be o.k. Might be the odd shower later this afternoon but the Leicester track drains well. I think that we have only had a couple of matches postponed since we reopened.
  20. By way of interest, according to my reckoning, Leicester is the 8th longest track in the UK and the 9th fastest. Sheffield is the fastest followed by Kings Lynn & then Workington. All figures calculated on the info in the Speedway Star's pre season issue.
  21. I fear it will all depend on how well the Lion's reserves do.
