Not exactly a huge surprise but DH will have to pull a BIG rabbit out of the hat if he is not to lose more customers.

That's o.k. if you can get to all matches but I can't. Leicester only lease the land from the Council. I am grateful to all those who spent the winter of 2010/2011 in helping to build the new stadium, I even helped myself in a small way. The point is that the Leicester management on their Facebook page justify the increase in admission by saying that it will bring prices into line with those at Coventry and Wolverhampton. Most people would agree, I think, that, although wonders have been worked at Beaumont Park, the stadiums (stadia for the Latin scholars out there) at Brandon and Monmore are better than the one at Leicester and that the racing is better at those two tracks. In addition the Bees have been in the playoffs in the last two seasons and it was only at the fag end of last season that the Lions drew level on points with the Wolves. So am agreeing with the person who posted a comment on the Lions Facebook page that you will get better value for your money at Brandon or Wolverhampton than you will at Beaumont Park (especially if Jason does not come back). That's o.k. if you can get to every meeting but I can't.

I see that the admission prices for next season have been increased! Have to agree with a comment on the Lion's Facebook page that, although the admission fees will be the same as Coventry & Wolverhampton, we will be paying more for an inferior product e.g. poorer stadium facilities, track and, last season, team.

I suspect Kings Lynn otherwise I cannot see why Jason tweeted that Chapman has been elected as BSPA Chairman. If memory serves me right he guested for the Stars at the end of last season.

There are so many variables that its extremely difficult to predict how long it will take to build a new track. First you have got to find and buy/lease a site, second you have got to get the local authority on board and hope that there are no planning or environmental issues that can't be easily solved (have a look at the conditions attached to Leicester's planning approval), third the finance needs to be available, fourth you need to have the BSPA on board (no problem there I would have thought but you never know) and last you have got to build the place. Just look at how long it has taken to get the new Belle Vue Track in place. Was it 3/4/5 years? I reckon the Bees will have done well if they are in a new stadium for the 2019 season.

Some Lions fans are already saying that, if this happens, they will stop coming to Beaumont Park. They don't remember the Ochiltrees making a similar offer to the Lions in 1983! The only good thing that might come out of this is if any rental income was used to improve the track and spectator facilities.

Just for the record last season the Lions had 5 riders signed up by Christmas. The other two following in January and March.
-
Expect an announcement about next year's team at the End of Season Party. I don't think that the 2 Ws are going to come over just for the food & drinks!
-
I think that there has to be a 2 metre gap between the track fence and the spectator fence.
-
The three Poles have all been awful away from home. Its summed up by Wosniak actually improving his away average by scoring 3 + 1 from 3 on Monday. The two Ws have done reasonably well at home but Swiderski has been awful at home as well. He has only won 2 races (both at home) - one in heat 13 v Swindon on 11th July when the Lions were on a 5-0 and Doyle slowed to let him win and the other was in heat 10 v Lakeside on 1st August when he got away and the 2 Lakeside riders let him go so that the Lions could not put Doyle on a tactical in the next heat. Having read what the promoter said in the Speedway Star last week it looks like another season in the Elite League next year, unless they go for a set race night which is not a Saturday.

Leicester Lions Vs Kings Lynn Stars - 15 August

I should ask these questions more often - see who is riding for the Lions at Wolverhampton tomorrow - Garrity! -
Leicester Lions Vs Kings Lynn Stars - 15 August
Happy Hunter replied to scottrocks's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Can someone explain why we never seem to get a decent guest in to replace Josh Auty? According to the BSP FTR sheet in the Green Sheet Averages we can have any rider on the list apart from Kyle Newman. Any chance of seeing Garrity ride for us or some of the other big hitters on the list? Again last night it all boiled down to how well the guest reserves did. Our top 5 were better then Kings Lynn's. Our reserves were not in the same class as theirs. -
Swindon's New Stadium

Leicester built theirs in 7 months. I would have thought 5 months was pushing it, especially if we have a wet/cold winter. -
Exeter - A Glimmer Of Hope?
Happy Hunter replied to Sotonian's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Having a holiday home in Devon and being without a home track I have been a fan of both Exeter (I remember those bank holiday meetings when we had to wait for the doctor to turn up) and Plymouth so I am following with interest the possibility of a new track in Exeter. The following is an extract from part of the Plymouth Devils Website. Hope it helps the discussion! Manordelta Ltd A well known speedway name - ex Exeter owner Colin Hill's original promoting company at the County Ground. When Colin knew he was dying he set up a special trust to try and preserve the sport in the Devon city, In his will he set aside a sizable amount of money to further that aim and the trustees have agreed to become 25 percent shareholders in the new Plymouth promotion, having virtually accepted that despite their efforts, there is no visable venue in Exeter. Andrew Copp, director of several companies and a silent partner in Colin Hill's business, is Manor Deltas representative on the board. Also I think that planning permission was granted for the track at Halden Hill but the stumbling block was the rent that the new owners of the race course wanted. -
Leicester V Lakeside Sat 1st August
Happy Hunter replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I was really trying to make the point that the 'Fast Track' system is no longer working. I can see that you have to get who you can get if your reserves are injured but the number of riders who have been included on the 'Fast Track' list who are, to put it kindly, reaching the end of their shelf life, is getting ridiculous. -
Leicester V Lakeside Sat 1st August
Happy Hunter replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I know others have said this before but can't the powers that be see that having someone like Richard Hall as a 'Fast Track Reserve' makes the sport a laughing stock? -
I don't suppose anyone fears a visit from Leicester but, if you are a promoter, and you have the chance to strengthen your team in the near future, you will do everything possible to make sure that you have a stronger team than you might have had for a visit from the Lions. It will be interesting to see, if Swindon do sign Ward, if any of the Swindon cast offs finish up at Wolverhampton.
-
I am not normally suspicious but it looks to me that the Lion's two away meetings this week might well have been postponed so that the opposition can strengthen their teams before we ride them.

Probably Wolves did not fancy it! -
Leicester V Swindon Mon 29th June Sky Match
Happy Hunter replied to robert72's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
You might know that DH will have thought of this wheeze! Mercury voucher has to be presented with admission fee at ticket office. Presumably you will then be given the actual drinks & dog voucher. Hope that there is enough booze, dogs & programmes to go round on Monday otherwise it will be another egg on face job! -

Happy Hunter replied to robert72's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
If you have the Leicester Mercury & take the voucher that's in it with you on Monday you can get a free half of lager & free hot dog as well. That can't be bad for £7.50 + the cost of the newspaper! -
Leicester V Belle Vue 20/6/15
Happy Hunter replied to stevethelion's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I thought that there might have been more Lion's fans on here saying how well the team did on Saturday. The top 4 scored 41 points and the Premier League guest at no 5 did as well as could be expected. Things look a little brighter I think! Does anyone know what average Swiderski is coming in on? -
He had to have an operation to wire his hand up towards the end of May. I think the six/eight weeks start from then.

I knowhow to spell Bourmouth (sic) but did not want to upset the others who do not!
