Looks like there might be a 2017 season for the Lions after all - see last para of the following: King’s Lynn Fixture Cancelled On Saturday there will be a collection at the entrance of the stadium on behalf of Alex's Wish, the chosen charity of Leicester Speedway for 2016. Leicester’s final Elite League match of the season which was scheduled to take place on Saturday with the visit of the King’s Lynn Stars to Beaumont Park has been cancelled. The Lions Co-promoter David Darcy said: “It is no secret that the club is in financial difficulty and to stage the meeting will incur additional costs which will only add to the present situation we find ourselves in. After careful consideration of the facts the only sensible option was to cancel the meeting much to our regret. The decision has not been taken lightly and on behalf of the management team I offer our sincere apologies to our fans, sponsors, business partners, riders and staff. Our fans have supported the team brilliantly throughout the season and I am sure that the news will be a huge disappointment to them as much as it is to everyone within the club.” The team’s last home appearance took place on August Bank Holiday Monday when Leicester completed a win over last season’s Elite League Champions, the Poole Pirates and the final score-line of 52-38 was their highest winning margin. The fixture has twice been postponed due to rain which affected track conditions and a third attempt was scheduled to take place two weeks ago only to be cancelled due to the unavailability of several of the Lions team. “I am mindful that fans may still have in their possession admission tickets from the original date when the meeting was first postponed and if this is the case then King’s Lynn fans should write to their club enclosing their ticket for a refund which has been agreed with the Stars Promoter Keith Chapman. Just to repeat what I posted on another thread: I hope that all of you out there who, for whatever reason, have stopped going to Beaumont Park try to go on the 22nd if you can to demonstrate to any potential new promoter that there is still a large fan base who want to see speedway stay in Leicester.

There are two companies involved. Beaumont Sports Complex Ltd who lease the land from the City Council and Leicester Speedway Ltd. who presumably pay rent and run the speedway. I think Leicester Speedway Ltd were responsible for building the track. As far as shareholders rights are concerned have you looked at the Companies Memorandum and Articles of Association? Is there anything in there about calling extraordinary meetings? I would be interested to hear from our shareholder poster if there have ever been any profits from running the speedway and what they have amounted to!

I hope that all of you out there who, for whatever reason, have stopped going to Beaumont Park try to go on the 22nd if you can to demonstrate to any potential new promoter that there is still a large fan base who want to see speedway stay in Leicester.

No I don't have any shares in the club. All the information I have posted can be found on the Companies House web site.

David Hemsley is the only shareholder in Beaumont Sports Complex ltd. There are a number of shareholders in Leicester Speedway Ltd., including some well known names. David Hemsley owns one of 3601 shares.

Just in case you have missed it Mr Hemsley resigned yesterday as Director of Leicester Speedway Ltd. The Company Secretary also resigned yesterday. This leaves Yulia Hemsley as the sole director of Leicester Speedway Ltd. Mr Hemsley remains the sole director of Beaumont Sports Complex Ltd.

The Company Secretary also resigned on the 13th September the same day as Mr Hemsley. The only Company Officer is now Yulia Hemsley. Mr Hemsley is still the sole director of Beaumont Sports Complex Ltd.

You have got to remember that there are two Hemsley controlled companies involved in this. Beaumont Sports Complex Ltd who lease the land that the track is on and the surrounding land, including the Speedway Bar and car park, from the City Council, and Leicester Speedway Ltd. who run the speedway and, presumably, sub lease the track from Beaumont Sports Complex Ltd. So I assume that the Council are chasing Beaumont Sports Complex Ltd. and not the company running the speedway.

Easier said than done I think!

Having had a look around the various web sites I suspect that it will be Masters at no3 for King's Lynn and not Harris as reported in the Leicester Mercury. (see my previous post for teams)

According to the Leicester Mercury the teams for tonight are:- Lions: 1 Patrick Hougaard, 2 Rider replacement, 3 Nikolai Klindt, 4 Paul Starke, 5 Syzmon Wozniak, 6 Ludvig Lindgren, 7 Josh Auty. King's Lynn: 1 Michael Palm-Toft, 2 Robert Lambert, 3 Chris Harris 4, Kai Huckenbeck, 5 Troy Batchelor, 6 Robert Branford, 7 Carl Wilkinson.

Somerset, Plymouth, Scunthorpe & Buxton just to name the ones that I know about. Some of that thousand would be season ticket holders and some would pay £15 concession so it might be less that £17,000 but your point is still valid.

I don't think they will be able to build on the land as the reason it was a green field site is because the land was contaminated by heavy metals when it was part of Leicester's sewage treatment works until the Wanlip Sewage Treatment Works opened in the early 1960's.

According to last week's Speedway Star it was 5 weeks. Some of the delay would, no doubt, be down to cash flow problems (5 away meetings on the trot with no income) but, like you, I can't see the present Leicester setup continuing beyond this season.

I think that most people agree that, if any rules have been broken, then a punishment should follow. It's the scale of the punishment compared to other decisions in disciplinary cases that bothers me.

It's not as simple as some folk think. The land on which the stadium is situated and the surrounding land (where the BMX Track and 5 a side football pitches were supposed to be) was leased by Leicester City Council to Beaumont Sports Complex Ltd. who were the company who obtained planning permission for and built the Speedway Track. They in turn let the track to Leicester Speedway Ltd. Mr Hemsley is a director of both companies. Not sure if this helps the discussion or muddies the water even more!

I remember that, when there was talk of Leicester moving up to the Elite League, someone came on here and said 'be careful what you wish for'. Never been a truer saying and worth repeating! I watch speedway in both the Elite and Premier League and much prefer the latter!

Whatever you think of DH this punishment is harsh especially when you remember that last season a rider only got a £200 fine and a 21 day suspension for deliberately ramming another rider after a race causing him to miss the rest of the season through injury!

I think that the announcer last night said that Nicolai Klindt's paid maximum was the highest score ever by a Leicester rider. Those of us with long memories will remember that Anders Michanek scored a full 21 point maximum against Coventry at Blackbird Road on the 14th of May 1968. Despite this Lions lost the Knockout Cup match by 52 to 56 (18 heat match).

I think that last night was the first meeting since the Lions re-opened that we did not have one rider who won a race! Says it all really! DH won't be paying out much by way of points money will he?
