  1. I thought that the attendance looked o.k. It was certainly not less than the attendance for the previous time the Lions rode at the OTA which I had the misfortune to attend!
  2. I am a BT customer so get BT Sport for £5 a month. All the speedway plus football and, this winter, the Ashes. Cheap I reckon.
  3. Did the 6 riders who actually rode for the Lions also have to pay an extra £50 each to cover for the one who wasn't there? Sort of rider replacement fine!
  4. Suspect it will be on. Weather beginning to clear up and a fine evening forecast.
  5. Been some heavy thundery rain three miles from the track in the last hour. Having looked at the line ups I should think the Lion's promotion will be desperate to get the match on!
  6. Some rain forecast for tomorrow but the evening looks like being fine.
  7. More injury worries for Lions. Bjerre & Newman withdrawn tonight through injuries.
  8. I thought I had read somewhere that it would be a guest for Kim whilst he is injured and R/R for the injured Pole.
  9. He will do well to recover from a break in less than three weeks.
  10. Birstall. Admittedly is was only drizzle. Its much brighter now.
  11. And I thought the Lions had problems! Had a lot of rain in Leicester the last few days and its still raining. Forecast is for a better afternoon/evening so expect a long sun delay if the meeting is on!
  12. Don't we have to have a Brit at reserve? In which case it will be Riss & Newman.
  13. I expect that the Bees team will be Rye House in disguise plus Rory Schlein. I won't be there!
  14. What a silly price to charge! Why not just a tenner! I would have thought that the least they could do would be to give all season ticket holders a free programme, especially as there have been reports on here about the poor quality of the food on offer at BP.!
  15. Looking at the Lions fixtures Garrity might well be fit before they ride again!
  16. I thought Nilsson won heat 11. Perhaps I was wrong but I don't think so.
  17. That's what happened on Saturday in the Lions v Rebels meeting.
  18. I think there were some mitigating reasons why there was a poor crowd last night. To start with the Lions performances have, to put it mildly, been poor, the weather was poor with rain expected any minute, the opposition were not particularly attractive, and there was live football, rugby and the GP on TV. Did anyone else think the referee had a poor meeting? The chaos over the gate positions for the last heat was unbelievable. I could not understand why the referee, track officials and riders did not know the rules! Also was I the only one who saw Kurtz move whilst the green light was on in heats 4 and 9? Why were they not rerun when several other races were because a rider moved whilst the green light was on.
  19. Garrity has broken bone in hand according to SGB website. Nothing on the Lions website - there's a surprise!
  20. The other thing about this is that the promoters only announced the team yesterday when they must have known about Ayres being doubtful and Garrity being injured on Thursday.
  21. Lions have 3 guests plus 1 r/r - this means that I will not be there. Who would go to watch any team sport with over half your team not there? Would have been much better to postpone.
  22. Whilst I agree with posters that the track staff did an excellent job in the circumstances I seem to recall that someone, possibly Glyn, came on here and explained that, if rain was expected, the best thing to do was to remove the shale before it started raining so that the rain just ran off the hard surface into the drains and did not soak into the shale which would then be difficult to remove because it would be of a wet concrete consistency. This is exactly what happened yesterday - we all witnessed that the tractor with the bucket had difficulty scraping the surface away hence the need to load the bucket by shovel. On the announcement front everyone knew they were being extremely optimistic with their announcements. Its like being treated like idiots! Also the presenter missed a glorious opportunity to get a riders view of the situation when one of the Rockets riders spend about 15 minutes prodding the track near the start. Why did he not interview him. It would at least have made a change from watching the dumper truck racing!
  23. Looking at the forecast heavy showers from 3 pm I don't think there is a snowballs chance of this match starting. There is at least another half hours work to do despite an announcement of a 2.30 start.
