  1. Try Scunthorpe. I've been so many times this season. Not because I support them, but because the racing has been fantastic!
  2. Certainly didn't feel like a play off quarter final last night. Crowd seemed very down considering what the meeting meant. The odd good race but very gate and go again. Lambert looked a class apart, but even he couldn't pass once he didn't get out in front from the gate. Really does depend on what guests both Sheffield on Newcastle get in on Sunday to who will go through, sad really considering both teams have worked hard to get in the play offs all season.
  3. Does anyone know what has actually happened between Garrity and the Bates'? Him and Josh seem to get on great in the pits, after race wins etc and now all of a sudden they've all fallen out? Is there any true stories or all just rumours?
  4. Surely if it was an issue with Sheffield, Jason would leave/be sacked and he would carry on riding for Coventry, otherwise he's not getting paid at all. Also, It's not Coventrys fault if Garrity has fell out with Sheffield, therefore they would need him in their side? Why would Coventry cover up a story for Sheffield's benefit? Not heard the rumours etc but be very strange if it was a cover up IMO.
  5. Have to agree with a few posts on here. I've managed to get to Scunthorpe much more this season due to the change of race days, and can honestly say its some of the most exciting speedway I've seen. The team that's now running are all great to watch, and I'm pleased to see them come off the bottom of the table after Sunday. The meeting is always ran quickly and smoothly, most of the time there is some second half action afterwards, and the racing is the best I've seen anywhere in the UK! I'm not a Scunthorpe fan (I have Allianz's elsewhere!) but I purely go for the excellent racing that is produced. Keep up the good work Rob, your team and the riders at the EWR, you deserve huge credit for the speedway produced. Hopefully can manage to make Friday's last home meeting too. If you've not been before, you should make the effort to go, because you really are missing a treat!
  6. Few weather forecasts saying rain tomorrow, hope we get lucky. Always enjoy the local derbies!
  7. Why has Tai done this now? There is still a high after our result only a few weeks ago, its good publicity wise for a few clubs and british speedway in general, riders such as Danny King are still on a buzz from it.. And now it'll be back to square one again. Surely he could of waited, atleast till the end of the season before put a tweet out about his unhappiness? No explaination, just a throw in of the towel and a half hearted all the best wish to Team GB. I love the guy, but his PR needs working on....
  8. If there is no Garrity again, why are we still using R/R? Surely a guest for Jason would be better, especially like last week with Steady getting injured so early on leaving us down to 5 riders?
  9. What was the crowd like? Did the promotional offer with the WC tickets work?
  10. It's a shame all this is clouding over what was a fantastic meeting! Couldn't believe they way heat 15 went either, quiet enjoyed Master's little celebrations in front of the fans after too after taking some unfair flack at the tapes. Rob and his gang on the centre green we're nearly running with the MPT & Wilko in heat 14, was great to watch. Think heat 7 was the best non-passing race I've seen. I can't recall the last time I went to Scunthorpe and saw a bad meeting. I wish they could get the crowd's the racing deserves. Think its time Sky sports paid them a visit.
  11. Yeah they are. I rang yesterday to see if we could still get terracing as I prefer to stand but only the temp. east stand seating was left. £40 a ticket too, but my fault for leaving it so late.
  12. Although I have never been to a GP abroad, I would hate to lose Cardiff as a round. Like a few posters have said, its not just about the racing itself, its everything that comes with it. Head down on the Friday, head over to the PL pairs which is always well supported and a great meeting. Then its into Cardiff Saturday for a full day of the fanzone, meeting up with other speedway friends and seeing all the going's on with riders, equipment etc around the stadium. Into the stadium for a superbly presented and well run meeting (and some decent racing too) and then finished off with the fireworks. No trouble afterwards either on Saturday night when we can all go out and enjoy a beer or too and often mix in with riders from yester year and current riders. Can even make a full weekend of it like myself this year and spend the day in Cardiff on Sunday too. A great city with the stadium's location absolutely ideal. All the locals are very friendly and you get the feeling the city enjoys speedway's big event every year. Its my 3rd trip, and every year has been superb and wouldn't want it to be any different. Quiet an expensive weekend, but I always feel its been money well spent.. Ready to book for next year already!
  13. That's the best meeting I've seen at Owlerton in a long time! After the Berwick meeting the other week I left a bit frustrated with all the re-runs, slowness and general gate and go stuff that has happened quiet a bit lately, but last night restored my faith. Lambert and Garrity, going at it for a full 4 laps, hard but fair riding and no stuffing each other into the fence or anything, just a delight to watch. You literally couldn't take your eyes of the battle for the whole race. I noticed a couple of people giving Lambert a few verbals for some reason, sure he can take it. Rightly applauded by everyone else though. Pleased to see Josh up and about after his crash, not sure why he sprinted off so quickly after he got out from under the air fence, imagine it didn't do his shoulder a lot of good either. Also good to see Greaves get a heat win, he's rapid out the gate he just can't seem to keep his speed through out the 4 laps. Well done Tigers!!
  14. Really enjoyed this meeting last night. Try to get to scunny as and when I can as the racing is usual top draw, and last night didn't disappoint. To me, the aim of a good meeting is 2 competitive teams, both with riders who could win a race, and can overtake if not. And that's what we had last night. Auty and Wilko the stand outs for Scunthorpe points wise. Douglas was all action and great to watch, and young Bailey looked well on the pace and competitive, a wise choice by Scunthorpe. Plymouth seemed to have a switch mid meeting, Holder & Neilsen struggled early on, and then came good towards the end. Kurtz was the opposite and started great, and finished with 2 0's. Like a few have said, the crowd seemed very low. Really cannot understand why! A quickly, well run meeting with some great action, a good race track and a close score line through out. Are people really more interested in the team winning every week? Is the promotion of the meetings not quiet up to scratch? Is there just not enough people in Scunthorpe interested in speedway? Surely crowds of 300-400 a week aren't sustainable for PL. I'll be visiting as much as possible through out the season & I hope Scunthorpe can carry on with them crowds, be crazy to lose such a great race track.
  15. Have to agree RE the track, first few meetings have seen a lot of spread out racing and I hope its not some to expect through out the season. Seems its very much gate and go at the minute, or who's got the fastest bike.
  16. There's the lifeline.. Can't imagine it will be anyone but Bjarne now. Probably not an out and out number 1 but will be a decent signing for the heat leader positions.
  17. Surely it has to be at the new National Stadium this year? With a stadium like that now in the british leagues armour, most events should surely be held there, include PLRC, NLRC etc...
  18. Thought Jack Lee did a great job last year, hopefully he'll get it again this season
  19. Its a funny time of year for speedway, some fans seem to of decided the league table before a wheel has even been turned. A good team on paper doesn't always work on the track, and vice versa. I like the look of the team, and like most sides, are looking at most riders improving on their average. Stead is a no brainer, and even on a high average, cannot be left out at Sheffield when fit. He brings so much more to the table than just his point scoring. One of the main plus points for me is the amount of british riders in the side. I hate to see sides with 1 or 2 brits in and the rest made up of aussies, danes etc. This is the british premier league and I want to see british riders in it. Looking forward to March already and onwards, when we will see for sure what our team can do!
  20. Welcome back Steady, there's no way Sheffield could leave him out once he declared he would be fit and ready to go for next season. Yes his average is big and he might not keep to it, but there's no denying he'll still be one of the best number 1's in the premier league and even if he gets a 9 point average, he'll carry on being a force in the PL. You dont just forget how to win races like he did at Owlerton last season!
  21. Seeing as most team news is now filtering through regarding the draft riders, I'd imagine Lynn will track Kerr and Rose. Be a good start to the team building for next season. Looks like the reserves places are being beefed up again from last season due to the movement that can now happen between the 1-5 and reserves.
