Berwick V Newcastle 26/4/14 Pl
HadrianDog replied to Normski's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Many a Diamonds fan has been worried since the ITT debacle. Maybe when Robbo moves to no 1, the real Ludo will bring cakes to his homecoming party. Other than down the pan. This team was saved last season by a powerful reserve with a big tub of polyfilla , but our management seemed to be hoping for the same. Was hoping to see Richie become another Kenni L. but alas he moved on. But he had made his Polish intentions clear by mid season, so some forward thinking might have been nice. I wonder where we were leaning prior to the intro of Anton. -

When was this- it sounds like a brill idea- did it last long and why was it dropped. Or you could have just followed the match updates on the Diamonds website- pity more clubs do not do this. -

Can I as a mere Diamonds fan, throw something else into the mix which maybe one of the Bandits faithful may have some insight on. I have a theory that the uncertain showings of many riders across the board is in no small measure related to the wholesale intro. of safety fences and the consequent redesign of many tracks to accommodate them. Have any of your post castle riders suggested that Shielfield post beans is altered just enough that the riders 'little black book' of bike settings/track cons has been rendered questionable. Slightly too young to remember those halcyon days but my father was there back in the thirties at Bough and he did . Talking to the older family members more recently, they also believe as you - mind you on a Sunday night some of our riders have been known to sink a few if of course Monday didn't have them guesting. -

So sad to see Lemo's recent scores. Last year in Plymouths first visit to Brough Park he and Ludo {on fire at the time} got a rare two and a half each cos the ref could not call it. On their later visit he rode like pants. I would really like to see him regain some form of respectability but it seems our management were right at the end of 2012. -

Berwick are not the only team in this fixture with a suspect no1. Given Ludo's currant away form your bloke Doolan will have to be really atrocious to not take some points from him. We never know which of his twin personas we are going to get. -

Meaningless maybe, and I admit that I was tempted to give it a miss, but to say it was different is an huge understatement. Long and drawn out, but hey it created entertainment both on and off the track. And prob. a good few more posts for this forum than say even a draw would have done. -
On Ryans second off the heat was stopped I think because the ref could not see past the air fence. The red lights came on barely a fraction of a second before a yellow helmet bobbed up from behind the fence as Ryan attempted to clear his bike from the track. The refs finger would been still on the button. How much bearing have these new air fences had on the visibility at some tracks I wonder.

Was there and he parked the bike where it could do most harm. An atrocious act which will I hope be dealt with accordingly. A less lenient ref. would have banned him instantly. Dreamland if he even he believed that statement. Never a rider but I have pushed a car, and he made NO attempt to remove that life threatening obstruction at all.

No fixture is meaningless if you have paid good money at the turnstiles{or net as I do}. Its the smell and the atmosphere that many fans come to savoir. We can but hope the that the lads will do the business and cream the Scunny scallywags. Remember that 'bragging rights do matter' when it comes to team morale for the real league season. Rule on the Panthers fixture on the telly a week Tuesday. Yeah I know we have the Bandits next weekend which I hope to attend, but the Diamonds on the telly against the Peterborough Panthers- exactly which one is the most prestigious as we ride against a team for the first time in How Long.

As I have said before, Ludo was the only regular contributor to our pre-season track preps. Does that really show anything other than his total commitment to our club. He is surely distraught at his performances and doing his utmost to rectify them. We must be careful here to not do a 'Chris Harris' and terrorise a rider merely for doing his best. I really do believe that Ludo is in the same mold as CH and is truly influenced by media insights. Are we as Diamonds fans really doing our best to support Ludo . When he took an heat 1 victory I truly hoped he had turned the corner, but alas ?

From a Diamonds point of view you have two of our riders [ regs not withstanding} who we signed prior to you and are now restricted from riding for us thanks to another ruling made purely to benefit the EL. I wish them both well, but wish that the effort shown by Swindon in helping Stevie W. make BOTH his prior commitments had been forthcoming from KL.

Sheffield V Redcar 17th April
HadrianDog replied to DAVEK's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Looks on paper to have been a good close meeting for the in-house spectators. Obviously, being a Diamonds fan, I was rooting for the home team but the Bears came to the party and provided good entertainment. -
Exactly my opinion also. If someone had created a system where in any way shape or form it disadvantaged the so called EL, it would never have seen the light of day. But on the other foot, it seems all things are possible. Surely some form of system could have been introduced to circumvent this Good Friday cock-up.

Interesting to see Steve's mini interview on Sky recently. I tried to 'do it on my own' was his comment. At the start of last season we at Brough put his poor showing down to confidence-and while that may have had some bearing- this seems to indicate that his equipment may have been at fault. Hopefully his currant form is showing that inborn talent does require a 'leg up' via sponsorship.

Considering the importance of this meeting re. our LC qualifying hopes, one would hope that George is on the phone right now, but methinks that in reality it is all done and dusted. After all, what are the rules regarding rider declaration prior to a meeting. We Diamonds fans are used to being kept in the dark regarding such things. Sorry, but if this is still the case then all the PL owners need shooting for not bringing in some rule changes to compensate for this new EL system. Typical though, as long as the mighty EL plods on nobody really cares as to the impact on our PL product.

Good to see the Lewis' in the points, all good news for Diamonds fans methinks. Thought Richie may have scored a few more on his former track, but KL are pretty decent this season.

Poole V Coventry 14/4/14 Ela Sky Meeting.

Really great to see Kyle Newman showing his proper EL potential. He has been in the doldrums for the most part and even up at Brough we only saw glimpses of his real talent last season. Hopefully the lad has now fully regained his pre-life threatening form when he was a Diamond. Never forget that without us having three doctors in attendance on that fateful night he would have died, a sight I was so very thankfully spared.
