Over the years we have made some baffling signings Robin has got a point William Lawson springs to mind.
-
Absolutely spot on You only have to look at some of the recent riders to come across as you say a good example is Kasper Lykke and see that we are just getting sub standard riders and I don't think it's worth wasting a season for It is only worth bringing in a guy like this if you are in a situation like Glasgow were last year where there season was over so giving Pavlova a shot was worth it to get him on a true average this year It would be a very stupid move imo to pass up an opportunity to sign someone like Doolan to bring in an assessed rider.
-
I would rather have Doolan than a new asset purely because he is reliable and we already have one new asset to bed in and a lot of new riders that come in to this league are poor and struggle to ever live up to there original assessed average there have been a few exceptions but if you look at the big picture they are few and far between.
-
Of course On a side note do you think Jorgensen will up his average?
-
I agree he is never going to be Kings Lynn Kevin Doolan but not many riders in this league are as good as Kings Lynn Kevin Doolan He is better than 6.91 he could be up between 7.5 and 8 as he proved at the back end of last season he's still got it and riding at number 3 as Robin said will make a massive difference He did beat Cookie twice round Armadale last season not many people can say they've done that.
-
Doolan will.
-
Maybe though this is an area where a few people can approach the supporters club or the promotion with a few ideas to get everyone together and try and raise a few quid in the process and try to club together and build a good working relationship between all involved with the best interests of the club at heart.

Couldn't agree more the one problem speedway has and always will do is it just isn't a big enough sport in this country I am lucky my parents took me to speedway from a young age and it's always been something I have had a passion for A lot of people I know that don't come to speedway it is because they don't understand it properly and I don't know how many times people have said to me well it's just four bikes going round in a circle whats exciting about that It is quite hard in this climate to get someone to spend £15 on something there not completely interested in and I see how it must be frustrating for promoters all around the country but something has to be done if the sport is to be sustainable not only in Berwick but across the country.
-
If it all goes well I could end up being a professional events planner Seriously though if this could be done I would be happy to get together with some other fans and try and do something to bring the fans together and to try and bring speedway to a wider audience in Berwick.
-
I went up about half a dozen times last year, maybe more and the crowd was roughly the same every time and it wasn't the biggest the only exception being the play off final.
-
I agree the general promotion is good but just a point I notice Edinburgh have already had one off season fans event '2014 Season Review' and they have another one 'Video Night' planned I can't remember the date but I always think its good to try and do something like this during the off season to keep fans involved one way or another and I'd like to see more of these It's also another way of getting a few more quid in every little helps as they say Also Edinburgh are doing an online survey to try and improve there race night experience which I think is an excellent idea I have to take my hat off to the Edinburgh promotion they work wonders on the track and they seem to do an excellent job keeping fans involved and happy and I think this is something we should be aspiring to do ourselves.
-
I would quite happily take Anders as if he can get back to full fitness he is a class act on his day and yeah Pontus had a great season but I think he can keep that average up I would've taken him over Matej.
-
There's some cracking riders out there who still don't have clubs if the promotion have any sense they'll steer clear of Tero Aarnio, Stevie Worrall and the like and look and riders like Anders Mellgren, Pontus Aspregen and see where we go from there.
-
I'd rather win the league cup than nothing at all plus two meetings against Edinburgh they mean something to the fans. I enjoy good racing but if that's all I wanted to see I would be going to Sheffield or Somerset not Berwick where at times you see more racing in the car park, it's quick and its a very well prepared surface but it can be gate and go at times just due to the shape I go to Berwick to support them and I want to see them win home and away not just to have a fun night out and see some good racing whether it's a good meeting or not I will go home disappointed if Berwick get beat There's plenty of riders out there who are good Premier League riders that do have the potential to up there average no I don't want to see Rusty Harrison or Theo Pijper either but someone like Anders Mellgren I would like to see Having one new assessed rider is a very good move and I'm happy with the Jake Allen signing but lets build around him and try and be competitive from the get go and build on last seasons success.
-
We better get the dark deep stuff out again if we sign Richard Hall might as well sign Jason Bunyan while were at it.
-
A weak 12 meetings would be enough to put some off coming and spending there cash at the speedway There's plenty of good riders still out there ok they may be on loan but getting an 7 point assessed rider isn't exactly a cheap or easy option either I think we should just stick with Allen and build around him with riders who have experience in this country and at this level.
-
I agree Alex isn't any better than him but he was in the team at the back end of last season and did a decent job so why change to Barrett this year it would just be an unnecessary change to probably get the same kind of outcome scores and average wise.
-
We need to build a winning team and those names would be reasonably far down my list to achieve that Barrett did look improved when I saw him last season but he still isn't a lead reserve imo Bellego needs a year away from Berwick he was getting stale and most of the time last year the quickest lap he did was his warm down lap.
-
I imagined he would be I didn't know it had been confirmed though.
-
If Sheffield finish with Proctor and Poole which most people seem to think it would leave Andre Compton without a team on a 5.59 he would probably do a decent job despite his age don't know what his plans are though If Jack Holder comes in on a 7 instead of a 5 Somerset may have to let go of Charles Wright on a 6.64 anybody think he'd be worth taking a punt on?
-
I can't really blame them for not doing it if it was my money I wouldn't be hanging my hat on two assessed riders the odds aren't stacked in your favour I'd say based on a lot of the assessed riders that have came in to the league over the past few years.
-
Speedway Promoter was so much fun With a bit of updating and a bit more in depth everyone would be happy.
-
Yeah always respected PW for his management style managed to put a competitive team out most years and he brought some gems in to this league Seemed to know the rule book inside out as well.
-
Yeah quality at home and can be a difference maker I'm a big fan of Doolan but I'd be comfortable with either of them over Kus It'll be interesting to see if we change the way we build the team now that we've missed out on Kus
-
Let us down in the big races a lot imo, he was better a 5 no doubt about that but only rode a handful of away meetings at 5 I think which is where I think the problem lies.
