  1. no camera angle gave me a positive view on that...do believe ermolenko got lucky in 93 in his final ride as well
  2. couldn't start to argue that point as never saw those riders.....since I been going I made my judgement
  3. having watched the penhall/carter collision, LOADS of times in slow motion and real speed, I still couldn't say with conviction who id exclude...at a push penhall, due to him looking for carter during that race, turning left down the straight, and I THINK, flicking his back wheel at last second,,,,1 moment wouldn't wanna be a ref
  4. birm do look realy weak to me, why I say that is the riders they have, I believe, have peaked, and wont get any better
  5. the reason I think it could of worked in 70s was because, the crazy doubling up/riding in 3 countries didn't exist.. a rider was a 1 team rider, sides had a proper team feel to it....today, a rider could be up against his own team, to me, that wouldn't make it a proper competition..imo
  6. its a no go, it will never have the integrity of a proper event
  7. quite agree...tis system may of worked in the 70s, but cant see this ever working now
  8. very tricky, in all honesty theres too many riders in too many teams...if we had a fa cup style comp just in Britain, it couldn't work, rider sharing is gonna cause long term problems I think
  9. would be embarrassing going intosuper lge with national lge reseves
  10. just cos cricket use the silly option, don't mean its ok for speedway to do so, its as crazy as the double pointer, points for losing a match is just as crazy
  11. I see greg wants a squad system......that is of course, it don't interrupt with gps, w cup, Swedish and polish lges.. in other words, when he got a free date in diary, ........lets go earn some more over in englnd!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
  12. jokers, guests, gp rides goin awol on rce nights, doubling up, atmospheres, poor pa"s, decline in crowds, stadiums still in dark ages, all this and more not hlping matters,,,i also think the play off system stops fans travelling,,if your laying comfy in the top 3, away losses are no big deal as you only need a top 4 finish,,id bring back golden helmet match race under the old formula where its challenged 1 time a month,,the days of individuals are no longr a draw,,blue riband, star of Anglia, olimpque, no longer the same as fields reatlly watered down
  13. before I pass on my top 8, id like to mention ermolenkos title win in 93..having been there I thort the ref handed it to him..controversy comment>,,,,fact is, he shed a chain on the 1st bend in last race, and when red lights appeared, he was clearly under power.. but my top 8 are olsen, penhall, mauger, rickardsson, gollob, sigalos, niki p, and lee..these simply cos they are wot we lack, characters and crowd pullers
  14. how bout world pairs reintroduction? fitting it in clear problem..but with venues like Cardiff/parken etc. no reason why it couldn't be done any month of the year?
  15. even further down the order ian turner, tony Davey. les Collins, the list is endless
  16. quality british finals, not a 2nd tier rider in sight
  17. I recall England against Rest of the world, we were that good, now we cant beat rest of elite lge! Louis Jessup lee Collins simmo ashby kennett davis Morton Wilson.......how times have changed
  18. id always go top heavy, history shows "all round strength" is never strong! gollob/rickardsson ward/holder etc will always keep you in any match
  19. love or hate poole, this forum always seem the busiest!
  20. agree with both above,i know financially riders want to ride in prem as well, but im not always sure that helps. barker prem average has gone downwards, cook I think, should show more ambition by leaving prem lge, but as I say, I know why they need it
  21. oh dear, the yr speedway conference wrecked our sport
  22. gollob on 7.5 was moaned about for ages with witches
