on Saturdays performance you correct, but like a typical sport fan, opinion changes from week to week. a good round in round 3 and opinions would change. he is the modern day andy smith, but he has every right to be there...for now

THINK you probably right here...don't think the racing was any closer, we just had big names, big crowd better atmosphere, probably slightly better rules, better package, but yeah, racing probably the same

quite right sid, gulf oil british league, easily best era for me, proper world championship with shock knock-outs along the way, seeing different riders in every world final, and every rider turning up having 5 rides to become world champion.....its all about opinions, and knowing what i saw and what i see, i prefer what i saw!! definately not the rubbish rider sharing!

agree with all but one sentence...visual package isn't better now....atmosphere yes, definitely correct. visually seeing the likes of olsen, mauger, briggs definitely better than todays offerings. the sports the same, rules are worse, d/u is stupid, but it is definitely down to atmosphere. play offs prove that

from my memory, wasn't there far far far more council housing than there is today? id never say its easy for kids today, its incredibly difficult, but I certainly don't recall it being easy from relatives
