I’ve had a lot of messages and calls since the news broke and just wanted to say thanks for the support. This is just my way of giving a little back to something I’ve enjoyed since being a nipper. Many of you will know I lost my mum a few years ago and this will be a chance to enjoy a bit more speedway with my Dad, my son and the rest of the family. I’ve left the past behind and it’s really just a thank you to all the fans who’ve supported me in the past. And although Leicester isn’t everyone’s ideal it keep the great name alive for now and then who knows what the future holds. For starers I doubt many people saw me and Mick burying the hatchet. But this is bigger than a fall out between us, it’s about so many peoples memories and emotions over the last 90 years. So I’ll look forward to the fans who support the coming venture, I’m delighted to be a part of it. It’s good to BEE BACK

SpeedwayTShirts replied to LondonSpeedwayFan71's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Yeah unfortunately not mate, still onwards and upwards and a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all fans out there across the globe. Enjoy your racing in 2018, new rules and new chances. A big shout out to my old mate Barry Bishop who's doing some excellent work at my old stomping ground the Isle Of Wight. Might even try and squeeze in a visit in 2018 before I'm too old and past it lol. -
Presenters And Announcers
SpeedwayTShirts replied to LondonSpeedwayFan71's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I heard I'd been getting a few comments lol. Cheers for the compliment Flagrag. At the final I was actually banned so wasn't working that night, I think Rob Sensicall was on the mic and my brother was doing the music up in the box. Shame how it all ended as I'd put a lot into speedway both riding, assisting riders with sponsorship, doing the music for years, the BIKERfm Speedway Show (which was hugely popular but not BSPA approved) and then finally doing the centre green announcing. Seeing the inner workings of speedway was probably a mistake for me as I now haven't been to more than a handful of matches in the last 3 years. I think its best to remember my love for the sport in my younger years and when I was racing. I met a lot of lovely people through speedway and a few scoundrels too, I wouldn't change a thing though and have some amazing memories to take forward with me. I always tried to ensure people were entertained from the minute they entered the stadium to the minute they left as there's a lot of time to fill with 15 mins of racing. Hope everyone's enjoying the sport still, try not to take it too seriously, enjoy the racing and the friendships you make along the way. -
How Do We Attract A New Young Audience?
SpeedwayTShirts replied to PHILIPRISING's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Having attended 2 meetings in 2 years one at Wolverhampton and one at Belle Vue (both thoroughly enjoyable), it's time to realise that the sports an open wound, the powers that be aren't interested in improving the image to attract a younger audience. And many people know the passion I had for the sport in the past and the lengths I was willing to go to to make an evening at the track more entertaining. 2 meetings in 2 years, you'd never have believed it 3 or 4 years ago...... -
From the Official Coventry Bees Website Change On The Cards - http://www.coventrybees.co/news.php?extend.1943 This Monday sees an entertainment extravaganza for the Coventry Buildbase Bees as the good news just keeps coming and coming, arriving like buses one after each other. Firstly Popular Ex Bee Martin Smolinski makes a surprise return to Brandon to strengthen the Bees in a final push in this our swan song season. Bees Promoter Mick Horton said "Smoli had been in our plans for this season from the offset and now seems the right time to make changes, the fans are demanding it and we are listening and making the necessary alterations". Monday see's the introduction of our new Co Team Manager in the shape of ex Bees No.1 Tommy Knudsen. Tommy has heard about the Bees start to the season and knowing its our final year here he is joining the management team immediately. To have a bit of Danish flair back at our prestigious club after so many of our Nordic brothers have donned the fighting Bee over the years seems a fitting finale. Another popular returnee is Centre Green Presenter Chris Simpson who arrives hand in hand with brother Richard with all the jingles, fanfares etc which used to make the hive such a buzzing place to be. Again, fans have been asking for this for over 12 months and we're in the entertainment business so entertain we shall. You want more? After all remaining meetings in 2016 all of our riders will be in the understand bar for a meet and greet, photo opportunities and a disco till midnight. And the cherry on top......... as this is our first home Sky Meeting of the season, the gates are open to all, free of charge. Many fans have been lost along the way but in this the final season at Coventry Stadium it's time to give a little something back and we'd love to show the world how important speedway is to the people of Coventry and how important Coventry is to the world of speedway. This may be our final season at Brandon and mistakes may have been made along the way, but it's time to unite, re-ignite those old memories, dig out your old yellow and black scarves, air horns and whistles and turn this season around to make more fantastic memories our future can build upon. And then I woke up and it had all been a magical dream...............
-
A lot of a little is better than a little of a lot. More people spending more money in the stadium will benefit the Bees in their final year of trading and create a better atmosphere assuming of course that the team is competitive. I'm more than happy to pay full price at the closing fixture of the 2016 season and say farewell to Brandon where I have many many memories however I doubt I'll be attending inbetween.

If people are an OAP they are an OAP regardless of wealth. If they are a student and qualify for an NUS card then they are a student regardless of time spent in college / university. Look at all the other clubs that are happy with this set up! Discussions with local colleges will do nothing to help fans travelling from further afield which obviously applies to away fans and some home fans. As an example we live 90 mins away, are Coventry Speedway going to be speaking to educational establishments in Stoke On Trent. And comically how the hell would Manchester United police this when the majority of their fans aren't local lol. If an NUS card is good enough for other tracks and also the likes of Apple, Amazon, Spotify, Frankie and Benny's etc etc you'd think it would suffice for Coventry Speedway.

Periscope. A Promoters Nightmare App.
SpeedwayTShirts replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
This is easily bypassed if people want to stream with a new Twitter account which doesn't reveal their identity 👍 -
If you type Polski into search in Navi X you get a full list including the regional TVP channels which as someone mentioned are all the same. I watched today's match on TVP Wroclaw I think but there were about 7 to choose from

How Do We Attract A New Young Audience?
SpeedwayTShirts replied to PHILIPRISING's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
As a 40 year fan of speedway I think unfortunately the end is nigh and it's too late for Speedway in the UK. After dabbling at a semi pro level I turned my hand to sponsorship manangement with various riders. Then into the music at various tracks and finally presenting. I was also involved in the hugely popular BIKERfm Speedway Show which whilst I was involved was getting a peak listenership of approx 20,000 listeners each week because it was edgy and dared to go where others wouldn't. But the show was seen as a threat by the powers that be and they did everything they could to mess it up. The only way to in my opinion to bring back the crowds in the UK would be a huge cash injection, sell it as a dangerous sport, stage manage it in respect to entertainment but not results a bit like wrestling, and a global brand sponsor. But I know unfortunately that none of this will ever happen. I attended one meeting in 2015 compared to a usual 100+ and in 2016 the only match I will go to is Coventry's last home meeting if it really is their final season. When die hards like myself give up who have it in their blood what hope is there of capturing new recruits. Enjoy it while you can and best wishes to everyone for 2016. -
Think people associate Smoli with Brum now, I was just thinking Coventry through and through folk for a final fun year. Jason Jorgensen with JJ on board looking after him would just be the cherry on top for the final season. No point aiming for the playoffs, Poole fiddle a win most years anyway 😉 That team wouldn't be any where near the play offs!
-
For the final season lets just go for entertainment value and tryers and £1 a pint in the bar. We all know Poole will win the league again anyway so........ Kenni Larsen Chris Harris Ben Barker Jason Garrity James Sarjeant Jason Jorgensen Adam Roynon Let's have plenty or argy bargy, refuse to pay any fines and if we do fluke a final place hand the trophy over to Poole before the first leg and just ride for a laugh and go out smiling as the final curtain falls 👍

Coventry V Poole 1/6/15
SpeedwayTShirts replied to kingbee's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Despite our pre season fall out. Gotta take my hat off tonight to Mick Horton and Havvy for standing up and not just rolling over for Sky Sports and the powers that be. Proud of the Bees tonight. The cherry on top would have been the riders and fans jumping the fence and staging a sit in, on the track so Heat 10 couldn't be run. Speedway has to change and it's great to see people saying enough's enough -
Coventry V Poole 1/6/15
SpeedwayTShirts replied to kingbee's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Unless things have changed or I completely dreamt it I think the home team gets £20k per meeting from Sky to make up for reduced crowd so at lesser supported clubs it's a better income than a normal match. Exceptions being perhaps Poole and maybe Cov. That might have change though since losing Sky as the league title sponsor. -
Coventry V Lakeside 4th May 2015
SpeedwayTShirts replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Thanks for the fans vote of confidence, we miss being part of the family at Coventry in 2015. I've not been to a single match this year, the whole episode's left a very sour taste and put speedway very much on the back burner for now. -
The Mighty Bees Vs Belle Vue 24/04/15
SpeedwayTShirts replied to Game On's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I keep checking my phone for missed calls from Mick but I think he's lost my number 😉 -
Midland Red - We'd been using a special mixed electric guitar version of Flight Of The Bumblebee since 2011. I'd post a link to it but I hear you have to be careful what you post or like on the web these days as it can lead to all sorts. On a serious note we put a huge amount of time and thought into mastering all the riders jingles and incidental music in attempt to make Coventry's Presentation Unique and hopefully one of the better nights out at a speedway track in the UK. Hope all Bees Fans have a cracking year with a brilliant looking team. Look after our old man he's still thinking of coming most weeks 👍😉🚲💨🐝🏁

It's quite funny to think that I've been sacked for liking something that was factually correct. Even more funny when you think I was reprimanded and fined at the end of 2013 for posting on Facebook that there were some xxxxxxx knobs in British Speedway. Now it's been proven maybe I should receive a refund on my fine

URGENT MESSAGE TO COVENTRY BEES STAFF - Do not like Kenneth Kruse Hansen's latest post re his race suit or you may be sacked by Mick Horton like Me !! Shame Mick wasn't so on the ball at the dinner dance when I made a 3 hour round trip with 2 recently bereaved children only to find out he's completely missed us off the table plan or book the room he's agreed for us. Instead we killed 2 hours in McDonalds then I DJ'd the night completely free of charge for him. Well toodle pip speedway

Birmingham Brummies 2015
SpeedwayTShirts replied to ProudtobeaBrummie's topic in National League Speedway
Birmingham Brummies owner Tony Mole says the traditional yellow with big red B race jacket will be in place for the relaunch of the club in March. Birmingham will revert to their traditional race jacket for the relaunch of the club in March . Club owner Tony Mole says the famous yellow with big red B will be in place again although the opportunity is still there for a sponsors logo to be included. He says the club have to go back to basics after confirmation he will be making an application for the Brummies to join the National League. During their time in the Elite League they have used the compulsory race suits but Mole remains a fan of traditional bibs. The traditional race jacket will be back, yellow with the red B, and I am sure that will go down well with many of our supporters, he said. But at the same time I am very well aware we have to move with the times and we are looking at different ideas for the new team. The response has been fantastic and we are all looking forward to seeing speedway return to Perry Barr next March. I believe the Birmingham race jacket is one of the most iconic in speedway and Im pleased to confirm the team will be wearing them. Its been a busy time since the announcement was made at the weekend about our return to the track and I want to thank everyone who has shown their support. But the real test will be when the fortnightly meetings start and we have to make it pay. This club needs to stand on its own two feet as a viable business if we are to climb the ladder again in the future. I believe we have a framework in place to make it happen and once the team manager has been confirmed we can crack on with building a team to challenge for the National League title. Season tickets are expected to be made available before Christmas and Mole has spent this week looking at potential new appointments for key roles at the club including announcer, stadium presenter and administration staff. It is believed Eurosport Swedish League commentator Dave Rowe is in line to return to Perry Barr as official announcer . http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/other-sport/relaunched-birmingham-brummies-plan-b-8139478 -
Christ knows what really happened, I know for sure I'd have preferred to not know the inner workings of speedway, a sport I've loved for 40 years but could quite happily now take or leave. I firmly planted my feet in the Phillips Camp and despite my loyalty finished significantly out of pocket. I'd also previously found Graham Drury and Denise sound as a pound but saw a totally different side to them in 2013 but then I'm a forgiving soul. Birmingham wise I unfortunately think its curtains unless Cradley take the plunge. I attended the last Brummies meeting at Belle Vue with a pitiful hardcore of maybe 20 fans max, that in itself speaks volumes. But I don't think it's just Birmingham, Peterborough, Eastbourne, Cradley etc who will close up, give it 5 years and I don't think speedway will exist in the UK apart from maybe the Cardiff GP, everything else will be amateur like grasstrack. The fault of all this lies in the failure to move with the times. The entertainment £ is spent better elsewhere in 2014. PS - Presentation wise I think the observations are spot on. I've tried hard with this at Cardiff, Coventry, Brum and Stoke with the assistance of my big brother and my son but our hands have been tied a lot. The big issue is you can be at a meeting for 3-4 hours and see 15 mins racing. That's a lot of time to fill and entertain people which currently at most tracks involves naff all

A life time ambition of mine to present the Elite League at Coventry which I achieved in 2014, I was gutted to miss the finals but overall really chuffed to have had the opportunity although it wasn't quite how I would have imagined from my childhood days supporting the Bees. The Bees support is strong and with the heritage, these fans deserve a team to support and a track to attend all be it in a tragically dying sport. Lets hope something can revitalise our great sport once again but I'm not holding my breath.
