  1. Lastest post on Sky sport forum. Not sure if it is good news or bad news. But someone posted that Sky and BT had both reduced thier bids seriously and the contract to show speedway was now in the hands of Premier Sport. It is Sky based and you have to cough up £9.99 a month.Just hope it isn't yrue.
  2. With a bit of luck the team will stay the same as it is now plus the one un-amed rider. Who ever he is. If Jason has let his visa expire and not re-newed it, then he could be in all kinds of problems. Lets keep fingers and toes crossed that all will get itself sorted soon and we get to hear who the mystery rider is. Hope he dosen't come on a race night with a mask like the wrestlers do or we could end up with a mystery rider every match. But it would be fun to guess who he was. You would get it in the end with his riding syle though. Give him a black bike and black leathers and a black mask. Te He.
  3. I do go to see the Leicester Lions. And take my grandson with me. But it is nice to see the other teams race as well. See nothing wrong with TV coverage of our sport. It doe's not make me stay at home and if it was on the TV the same night as a race night at the Lions the Lions would win out every time.
  4. No it is the BPSA who have now got to find a new sponser. Sky are just offering a service to broadcast the speedway with them paying no sponsership money this year. If it ever happens. Seems no news is good news.
  5. It would be nice to see someone. Get the iniiiative, get together thier own production team and sponsers. Open thier own Speedway TV Channel and show all forms of the sport. Elite League. Premier League. National League, Junior League. British Championships, GP and World Championships plus leagues from other countries and American Speeday. Long Track, Grass Trackand Ice Speedway. The list is endless. There is enough there to fill a weeks worth of viewing. What a dream. As long as it came as free to view and you didn't have to fork out another £10 or so a month to watch it. iF it was gone about in the right way, it would pay its own way with sponsership deals. Now that would be worth watching. And a round up programme on a Sunday, giving you all the weeks results and some rider features. Dream on it would make good viewing for all Speedway fans and maybe even bring in a few more to the sport.. But it is just a dream and will never happen. Are you looking EuroSport. You have got some of the best now, so go for the rest.
  6. Sure not me. The forecast looks rather dull and gloomy at the moment. Hoplefully by the end of the month a band of high presure with a break and the current situation will give us a brighter outlook. If not it could turn out to be very stormy. For the rest of the season. Hope it is not all doom and gloom at the last minute and they have already got the act together and sorted out..
  7. By the sounds of the rumbles it may be that the Lions will be on the look out for someone to replace Doyle if he fails with his Visa application. Who would they bring in then to replace him. I know that it is only January but it getting so much closer to the start of the season, by now most of the riders who rode in the Elite League last year will aready have been in talks with clubs. So there can't be that many that are worth while looking at now unless, They have already been aproached in talks with the Lions. You can't just sit back and wait for someone to come knocking on the door. Or they could just end up with a couple of riders that are no better than second string PL riders to make up your top two riders places. At the moment as things stand it would be hard to chose a NO.1 rider if Doyle didn't get his visa and Mads left as some are saying on here to go back to Swindon. If that was the case unless they can pull in a couple of good riders the Lions would be looking a little bit poorly. Was looking good before Christmas but the New Year has made things look a little bleak. Lets hope things get sorted for the good by the end of this month at the latest.
  8. Think you willo find it was Darcy Ward that did did the runner not Doyle. He was riding a mini motor bike but he wasn't charged if I remember what I read.
  9. Think Darcy Ward has enough cases against him here at home to call him a latter day Ned Kelly. But he still get a Visa not probs. Let them go live in Bulgaria and become a citizen they they can work here with no trobbles at all. Stpid country we live in. What happened to our good old Comonwealth days. We used to look after our other countries now you can't even buy thier products.
  10. Haven't we come a long way in this country. We welcome in anyone from the EU. Who can now work over here, but to anyone from our old Comonwealth, they are now no longer clased as being citizen of our great British Isles. As Queen Victoria would have said "We are not amused"
  11. Just had another negative e-mail from the Sky forum. The person from Sky still states as they have been doing for the last few months. That they do not know anything yet about the showing any speedway for 2014. They are not even giving any hope that they are going to show any coverage of the sport. Pretty poor show from them I think. There have been several people asking Sky if they are going to show speedway and threatening to cancel thier subsciption. But still all you get from them is the same negative response. Not a good way to run a set up to me. It would be far simpler just to say YES or NO.!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. The way I saw it was that the reserves only race against each other. I think it will be a must that all teams practice what speedway is all about and that is team riding not one rider blasting off to the front and leaving his mate trailing at the rear. The teams that will dominate are the ones who will ride as teams not 7 indivdual riders
  13. I makes me wonder at times how may of us on here are actual Lions fans. I for one could care less if they finish last in the Elite League this year. Which I can't and hope dosen't happen. But I for one take my hat of to all that has been achived at Leicester. And I am looking forward to the coming season and am am sure we will see some good well fought contests on the track. A true loyal Lion.
  14. It was me that got it wrong sorry on that one. Thought they had called it a day.
  15. I personally think that BP will be like gifting the Polish riders a golden spoon covered in honey, with straights longer than most of the Brithish tracks, it will be like riding on thier own turf. I watched KK in the Liecester Coventry match and he took to the track, as if he road it every week. Lets hope that the new team get plenty of practice around BP before the start of the season. If they do and get to grips with it, there will be some big upsets with the visiting teams. I am sure the Lions will finish in mid table. Don't think for one moment that they are going to end up in last place. Think this is going to be a good year for the Lions and Lions fans. Not to long to wait now to find out. Any ideas on the last rider by the way. Thought we would have heard by now.
  16. Well said 1 valve. Either they make a good show of things or it really goes belly flop. Then it will gives us an awful lot to write about. I think we are in for a good year. The Lions may not have the best riders but they seem to be a pretty well balanced team with some really hart triers in there. And yes we will get to see all the top riders. Should make 2014 a good year. Win or Lose. It has been 30 years without top flight racing and now the Lions are back with a roar. Good Luck to them. Hope they make the fans proud of them in 2014.
  17. Sad to see that Rye House are not racing this year after a lack of sponsers. What a shame to see another team fold up. They may come back, never thought I would ever see Leicester Lions race again but that happened so I wish them all the best for the future. As for the amount of nasty accidents, I think that some riders are now racing in a far to dangerous way with no cares for thier own saftey or that of other riders. May be just the way I see things but some of the riders and top riders at that race around like Kamakazi pilots. We used to have crashes but the ones today seem to have more life threatening results and a risk that the said riders may never race or be the same again. I think that this year could give some very good racing in the Elite League, once things have been given a race meeting to sort things out. May 2014 bring speedway back to the eyes and ears, of Joe Public out there and get the people to our sport. I have followed it for many years now and it seems to have lost its way a little over the last few years. Hope the changes make 2014 a season worth watching. Would hate to see the loss of speedway, as it has given me much pleasure, over the years.
  18. A happy New Year to all Lions fans . Lets hope for a good 2014.
  19. After what happened with the leak I wouldn't wonder if Poole didn't get any showings if Sky does have the contravt. It was a bit naughty and previous to say the least. And it has all kept us glued to the screens waiting and wondering what is going to happen???????????
  20. It all sounds like if the boot don't fit try the other foot to me. They have done a preety good job of getting the Lions to where they are now in so short a time and all most can do is winge and whine on at that them. Just wish it was me who had the chance to be where they are now. From nothing to Elite League in less than a hand full of years back on the speedway scene in the UK. Not a bad effort in my mind. But there will be always someone out there that still likes to have a go at them. All the best for the coming season, I for one am not complaing. Bring it on.
  21. Just been noified of a new post on Sky Sports forum. Nothing will be announced until the current contract expires on the 31st of December. So not many more days to wait yet agin till we may hear from them.
  22. No don't drink tablets won't let me. But had enough in my day to sink a battle ship. Hope the new signing is well worth the wait. We may not have some of the worlds top riders but still not a bad team for its first goe at the Elite League. May not finish top but I can't see them coming bottom, at least there are some have a go lads in there. Should be an interesting season.
  23. A Merry Chritmas to all Lions fans and lets hope that we get a very Happy New Year
  24. It was said to be 5 years. If I got it right when the bag of beans where spilled by someone "no names no pack drill."
