  1. The run-off was one of the best races I've ever seen. Does anyone have video?
  2. Joey Ringwood looked smooth enough on Friday night, but couldn't get off the starts to save his life. He is still a much better rider than last season, and Glasgow Tigers would be mad not to have him back to continue his progress.
  3. There was talk on the hill last night that a number of Australian riders, including Jason Doyle, were not going to get UK work permits in 2014. Does anyone know the facts, rather than these alarmist rumours?
  4. I don't think Nick Morris will be riding tonight. (You heard it here first, folks)
  5. The highlight of the Australian solo year starts tomorrow.
  6. Nope, he can't. Nominations closed two weeks ago. Home and hosed, mate.
  7. Don't talk to me about roos, they must be the stupidest animals in the world (after cricketing Poms). As for Undera, it is 270 metres around, with a stone-based shale surface. A guy I talked with last year told me it was like Wolves.
  8. No matter who is entered, it could be a good year. Holder and Batchelor will be desperate to show which of them is the main man down here, Woodward is going as well as he has in his life and none of these guys can take guys like Josh G or Jason D for granted. I'm going up to Undera and to Gillman, just wish I could make Kurri too.
  9. Nominations close on Thursday 5th. Seeds and qualifier nominations will be announced at weekend.
  10. Not fit, mate. Ty is at home in Victoria, and not riding in the Aussie titles.
  11. The dates have been known for some time. Once the riders have nominated, there will be ten seeded direct to the Title rounds, and the next-best (in the eyes of MA)sixteen go into a qualification event at Kurri-Kurri (NSW) on Friday, January 3rd. The first round is at Kurri the following night (4th) and the second one at Undera (Shepparton) in Victoria on Wednesday 8th. The final round is on Saturday 11th, at Gillman (Adelaide) in South Australia. The notable track missing is Mildura, where tremendous improvements are underway, with an airfence and surface changes being installed and which will almost certainly be back on the schedule in 2015. The other notale Australian date will be the U-21 Title meeting, which is set for Gillman on Saturday, January 25th (Australia Day weekend). Get yerself home, Primary mate -- see some serious skidding for a change!
  12. Which is the crux of the matter. This is Polish gangsters v FIM. The Poles lost the last battle over silencers, now they want to run the whole show. Stuff them. Two World Champions in 75+ years? They're not that good. FIM should simply say that it is our way or the highway. You run your league and your championship, but riders will be black, and cannot ride anywhere the FIM is in control (ie, the rest of the world).
  13. That's crap, mate. Of the last five World Champions, three are non-Europeans. There might be more riders in Europe, its just that they're not very good. On the right track, mate. Maybe not directly to the GP Challenge meeting itself for all of them, but seeded high enough up. Maybe two from European Championship and Aussie Titles, runners-up, plus top men from US, Argentina and other non-Euro speedway nations into the semi-finals?
  14. Here in Australia, we welcome overseas visitors. WA is a bit too far for our crew, but we'll be at the Title events in January, and will support local meetings at Gillman and Mildura. It'd be good to see riders from Europe, a shame the Poms aren't coming. Surely their Association could have stepped in to help that trip continue?
  15. I've seen DVDs of Matej Kus racing, in Europe and even in Argentina. He gets around! He's great at romping around bigger tracks -- at Pinjar, well look out!
  16. I'd give my eye-teeth (if I had any left) to be able to visit this place. Two of my mates were there a year ago and have been raving about it ever since they came home. Is it still open, and can anyone post dates for 2013/14?
  17. Ya bunch of whingers! We ain't getting the restaging on TV at all here. Count yourselves lucky.
  18. So is it off? Anyone available from the various Aussie tracks to tell us? The lads have apparantly paid for their airline tickets!
  19. Whoever owns Sheffield, you have a great and improving asset in the young Queenslander Damien Koppe!
  20. Had an e-mail from one of the kids, who is desperate to come out here. He said he has heard nothing from anyone (written at 6pm, Oct 10th) about the trip not happening, but reads in "Speedway Star" magazine that the whole thing is cancelled!
  21. Reading all this from afar in Australia, where airfences are not (yet) compulsory I am aghast that people are trying to claim Sheffield speedway doesn't need an airfence. Mitchell Davey, out of Townsville, QLD, was seriously injured there a couple of months ago when he went head-on into the fence at that track. Would he have "got away with it" next season, with an airfence in place? We don't know, but we do know he's out of speedway for six months minimum without one!
  22. I heard there was a Czechoslovakian rider coming too?
