Best Ever Pl Team Smug :)
Fenway Bleachers replied to DavyH's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Well done Monarchs on winning the QUAD. Justice for Wee Joe. Now I would like to see this team race our team from 2003. Cookie and Sam versus Freddie and the Motor. Now that would be a heat 15, and it is playing tonight in a dream near me! -
Newcastle V Edinburgh Koc Semi-final ?
Fenway Bleachers replied to ruffdiamond's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Maybe Newcastle might like to consider a big hitter at No 1............(tongue in cheek) GB manager Mr Rosco knows a man in form........ -
Edinburgh Vs Glasgow (pl) 12/9/2014
Fenway Bleachers replied to cyclone's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I think the Pavlova will get an average after fridays meeting, therefore he`ll drop to reserve and Berge moves into body of team leaving glasgow with R/R option which is undoubtedly weaker. If thats true he`d be better missing both and running R/R at the top of the averages -

Who Will Make The Playoffs ?

Agree Scots, though I take small issue with Kev; in that I think Monarchs are more likely to win at DP than Shielfield, and in an ideal world i`d like both in our group, but doubt the Rebels would be happy with ippo and the scorps.......still you never know. The one concern with picking Worky and the badnits, is that the latter could romp home at DP also..... -
Who Will Make The Playoffs ?
Fenway Bleachers replied to Super Blue's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Edinburgh need all 9 points at home and at least one at Ashfield to be top. somerset will get 3 at home to worky to be at least 2nd. Worky need 6 vs Sheffield x2 and then hope they get something away and that Pete don`t at Plymouth or it comes down to points difference with Worky just fav to get spot 6. Newc need 4 points at armadale which won`t happen so i have discounted them. edi pick worky first, Rebels might take berwick. edi get Scunny and ippo go to the rebels by default (neither of top 2 will pick them willingly) Then it`s all to play for. 2 big home wins for Monarchs and win at DP would be nice to get thru with Rebels winning BIg at home and pinching a point at Berwick, setting up a repeat of last years grand Final. THEN......redemption for Jozsef, and I can take my blue and gold specs off. In the words of Sergei.......SIMPLES -

Just a pity Nico. wasted his Olympic by picking up a point in heat 15, just ONE for the Cornetto..... Pity Stead decided to load his van early -
Who Will Make The Playoffs ?
Fenway Bleachers replied to Super Blue's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I like the old plus/minus points calculation for judging where teams are relative to one another. with that in mind top 4 are in Scunny at +7 will make it then it gets complicated. worky at 0 are ahead of pete who are -3, assuming all fixtures get sorted, and raced then the Comets are slight favs, but if they drop any against the rebels and choose not to race Edinburgh then Pete will be in depending away results However this year some fixtures will be lost before the cut off thus it`s possible we may get champions who did make the top 6 at cut off but who would not have if all fixtures completed. Only in speedway Huh???!! -

Yes,and heartily boo_ed by the Coo shed in Grieves like manner. Terrific rider to watch when he gives and receives room, Ht 13 with Sam was very good, but desperate when he spears opponents going for impossible lines. Let's hope maturity helps. Stay away from the stimulants..... -

Glad to be of service gents, delighted that the exploits successful or otherwise of the Monarchs attracts the time and attention of so many non Edinburgh fans. Many thanks for the compliments and concern, you would be most welcome at Armadale to see us in the flesh any Friday. -

Consistency regarding the starts would help, why only heat 9called back? Both team managers sleeping,Edberg should have been replaced in heat 14 and Cook the 2nd TR in heat 11. Best team won, reserve strength is key,Few passes possible at Shielfield where races can be called halfway down back straight lap 1 -

Who Will Make The Playoffs ?
Fenway Bleachers replied to Super Blue's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Agreed, and we`d both enjoy it with some fine deuchars...... regarding playoffs, if Edin top the standings (somerset could still catch them) then getting Berwick/worky would be nice leaving the rebels, Ippo, Peterborough or scunny to fight out the other mini group. This would ensure good attendances in the North, before hopefully a repeat of last years grand final, and a slightly different result, dedicated to our old friend joe tabaka. Not looking forward to a wrestling match with the M5 again though............ -
Who Will Make The Playoffs ?

we should really continue this debate in a bar somewhere watching speedway don`t you think? cos we`ve changed the topic from the playoffs headline, anyway lets continue, stead struggled to beat any of the edin top 5, with sheff no1 jacket or lions no2 he would have the same bother. He conceded a 5-1 to Edin in heat 8, (granted stevie was at reserve at the time) Klindt scored 4 from 5 rides guesting for ippo last October in the playoffs, maybe he`d do better, cos he would have to against a better line up. mads and Buzz are unknowns, you may be right , and they would win races, or like so many before them who arrive at armadale for the first time, they would struggle, the closest the EL has would be Arlington for comparison, without the longer straights. I still like our chances at home, and incidently, Stormy would beat Stead and Klindt at armadale himself 7times out of 10, and i would beat Richie hawkins on a push bike, but I digress. Josh Bates did beat doyle last year (fantastic ride) but struggled at other times guesting for us, though his effort was unquestioned. He has not appeared this year yet. Heat advantages? World Cup stars? We haven`t done too badly against stead and danny so far -

opinions, opinions, we`ll have to disagree then. Doyle has kicked on, you are right and cook has regressed a bit.....but his home PL record remains stellar. Doyle won or was paid for a win last year in 7 out of 19 races at Armadale and beat cook in 4/11 times they met. He`d do better this time i concede. However Stead 10 points from 6 rides a few weeks ago (unsuccessful TR heat 8) and Klindt would struggle, whether Mads and Buzz would like tight turns who knows, but this is the best Monarchs team in years, just check the averages, and they would handle Leicester at home Different story away, where Lions would batter them almost certainly. Heat advantages? Cook/Sedgy and Fricke/Stevie do pretty well at home. cook remains an enigma.....looks like he`s never sat on a bike sometimes in the EL, tentative and pushed aside, different story in the PL where he is head and shoulders better than everyone else, and imperious at armadale when the chips are down. since we`ll never see Leic/Edin this season we can stay biased towards our own leagues i guess. cheers!!
