  1. If Cookie rides PL in 2015, it will be at the dale where he is loved and a "legend" already. He was rejected at DP remember though does enjoy his visits
  2. EWR. Great track. Cookies pass of David Howe heat 11 May 2013 one of best manoeuvres I have ever seen bullet. did you miss it? Wonderful race track with more lines than a school punishment exercise. Well done to Scunny
  3. I am sure the BHB could donate some jockey helmet colors. maybe the Sangster white with green dots or Queenie's purple with golden tassles.....NICE!!!
  4. How about Cookie 9.19 Stormy 5.50 Sedgy. 6.99 Joe T 6.00 Sam. 8.23 Foxy. 3.50 Brantford/Clegg/Sarjeant. 3.00 Total 42.41 Max Fricke. goes to Cov.
  5. 2014?!!? Sensational Magnificent Unbelievable Glorious How about them Monarchs?? 2014 Year of the QUAD......................................
  6. Cookie`s average is 9.19 and he is a steal on that mark for next year if he wishes to return to Armadale. Yes Steads mark was higher but remember the bonus points.......Cook and masters/sedgy racked up plenty 5-1`s especially towards the end of the season so his average is somewhat depressed by all the "paid" wins. His true average is north of 10.5 if you factor those in. Stead had less support from his No.s 2 and 5 so often carried the fight to the opposition single handed, and he hardly registered any bonus points. Stead is deserving PL champ having won on his own track this year. Remember home track is a big advantage, Simon would struggle to win that honour on any other in the PL.
  7. Agreed KAOC, Monarchs managed to compensate for reduced reserve strength in the last few months by having 2 No 1s and big hitting in heats 15 and 13 home and away. Those 4 heats were won 19/5 against both Ipswich and Somerset never mind the 2 successful TRs in the grand final. Sam took a little while to sort out Armadale but since the Scottish Open win he has been as good as Cookie at home which is well nigh impossible since Craig is the Master of the dale He can kick on again from 8.22
  8. You may be right Blupanther, BUT he will be our whale in the PL goldfish bowl.
  9. they can be overrated Shads. Whilst local derbies are never meaningless Sometimes like this year they have been meaning less. However when tight bragging rights are to be cherished.
  10. Then lets have a 4TT Rebels weds, Ippo thurs Monarchs Fri and the weegies on the Sunday Sounds like a proper tourney??
  11. Only if the cogs in his head got stuck ond. This was a professional dive that outdid Arjen Robben.
  12. no we combine it with the spring trophy and race the weegies again....
  13. Not enough Brits around to allow all teams to have a majority in their 1-7 but a British NL type rider at 7 seems possible. Given all the Brussels laws Europeans can`t be denied work and teams have exploited that already so I`d keep the assessed 7 there. Yanks and Aussies on a 5 seems fair. Every successful team needs a few `roos Eh?
  14. Might be a bit early for this MM Lets enjoy the rosy glow a bit longer. we will need another stevie on a 3......but they don`t exist, so james sarjeants phone should be red hot this winter. Beyond that, Will Cov want to buy Max, does Cookie want to come back again (he`s a steal on 9.3) Will the aussie twine share the Embra flat again and adopt heat leader berths, Will stevie ever get out of labour suite? Deek has retired but will be a welcome face in the pits everywhere we go, and Basil should bo better next year and with an average of 3.7 (really 5.5 at home) should be better second time around, if the Visa gets sorted. Beyond that, the kaiser is tempting on 6.19 don`t you think.??
  15. I think the all conquering Diamonds team of 1982 with Bobby Be a ton at reserve and effectively 7 heat leaders lead to the points limit starting. I remember Joe Owen and Rod Hunter averaging about 11 each that year. Incredible septet
  16. Brummie I was with you until you mentioned Morris and innocent in the same sentence. We were disadvantaged in the 2nd leg last year you may recall. You may indeed get revenge next year...I look forward to a 3rd grand final between our 2 great clubs, but for this year we achieved justice for Joe. Tabaka. Speedy return to form for the pint sized Magyar would complete our league winning
  17. We have had the benefit of ballsy ref decisions in 2 final heats this year,so I would cut Brummie some slack. Last nights was a no doubter. No complaint from the rebs on 3rd bend who accepted it with class. Don't think it was pretty meditated just a desperate act facing defeat and frustration having gone so close. Let's leave it there. Somerset organization would not stoop to that
  18. I think Master Sarjeant will be much coveted this close season
  19. Let's call it gamesmanship. Aspirin saw the season running away and tried a soccer dive hoping for another go for his team mate. Ref allowed him time to clear the track which he failed to do until the bikes were on the 3rd lap and heading his way. He then managed to sprint to the center green. Ref realized the scam and awarded the race. If he put the red lights on earlier this would not have allowed Pointless to have the time to clear,he was not under the fence or his machine. Most refs allow a little time to see if the track clears just like Spud in heat 5. Aspirin chose not to leave when clearly he could. The ref had a very good night throughout and completed his stellar evening with the correct call in the most important heat.
  20. Yes Arson Best rider in the league even though his average has dropped by 1.2 due to all his bonus points with Sam and Sedgy. Simon Stead top of the averages it seems and top man (Aye right) Just don't tell Rosco cause he can recognize form remember. To be honest Cookie dipped a little by his high standards mid Summer but is back to his imperious bes again now. No better man to have in the big heats with pressure on, though Smiler Sam outstanding riding pillion
  21. During the league campaign TRs are allowed so that policy should also apply to the final. I am in a minority and like TRs as it challenges the team manager to using them to the max. If Morris had donned black and white in Heat 9 then the result may have been very different, but we will never know. From an Edinburgh point of view with Cookie at 1 and a TR available we are always in with a chance away from home if we fall 10 behind, and the opposition know it! Reserves are important but you can't beat a sledge hammer at No. 1
  22. Better tracks Better fans Better racing Better burgers Better race night predictability Did I miss anything?
  23. Ah!!! 6/7. Ain't too bad I had forgotten RH and his orange leathers
  24. How about Tom Owen Robbie Blackadder Joe Owen Andy Cusworth Brian Havelock Tim Swales Phil Micheledies or was that 1976?
