  1. I watched the U21 Final on Satellite TV, I thought the racing was poor with very little passing after the first bend, Matej Zager tried it and was excluded !. Why was one of the semi finals rerun for the second time when there was only 2 riders, they would both have qualified For the final anyway. Perhaps the referee can tell us, I think it was Mick Bates.
  2. Anyone with a Satellite TV system (not Sky) can watch the final live on 'TV Puls' from the Hotbird Satellite tonite at 6pm.
  3. I don't think it was Jim Squibb but his son Barry who competed in Rallycross
  4. I've got a copy of "British Speedway Leagues 1946-1964" and R. Stringer rode for Odsal in 1949, his total points score for the season was '0' so I would think he was a junior. This might be Zilinger.
  5. What a pleasant surprise to read about the Saints again, it's nice to know that there are other old fans of Bannister Road still around. My memories go back to the late 40's when we had Jimmy Squibb, Alf Kaines, George Bason, Pete Lansdale, Alf Bottoms, Tom & Bob Oakley, Cecil Bailey, then there was my favorite, Phil Bishop. I still love Speedway, until 2 years ago I was a regular at Poole but now it's just the TV and this forum, plus my memories. Happy days
  6. Does anyone know if there is Italian Speedway on RAI Sport in 2004 ??

    Old Bike

Went to the Milestones Museum in Basingstoke yesterday, an added attraction was 'A Century of Speed in Hampshire' and included in this was an OEC Speedway bike made in 1953 by the Osbourne Engineering Company of Portsmouth. I can remember the OEC, does anyone know who rode them ? The bike was loaned to Milestones by the National Museums of Scotland.
