  1. Shocked that Max Perry has been left out. Too many riders in the NDL who have reached their limit, so to waive an obvious improver seems bonkers
  2. Absolutely! Super-clever game plan being followed by Chapman here but nothing usual. Allow an asset (which isn't worth a huge amount anyway and frankly not bothered about either) to dwindle in value by not opposing other parties or circumstances which are bringing about that diminution. The asset then becomes basically dormant, all the while knowing there is another party which desires the asset AND that is prepared to put in the graft required to protect and enhance the asset's value, whilst at the same time not genuinely being interested in selling at its current market value. Then put out public statements of support for the other party's actions! Chapeau, Monsieur Chappo, Chapeau!
  3. I guess it also depends on how the Consortium members regard the statement!
  4. I think it comes under the heading of "intellectual property" or something similar and possibly includes the name "Peterborough Speedway" and the right to use it.
  5. But who does that article make it appear to be the one turning the screw. A masterstroke by the King of smoke and mirrors, one that has blindsided the consortium?
  6. For the statement to have credibility, shouldn't it be backed up by the consortium members each becoming a director of Peterborough Speedway Ltd (or whatever the company is called) and perhaps also become shareholders, even if their shareholdings are initially only very small?
  7. Seems like each season there's one club in particular that struggles to recruit suitable riders and I still have unpleasant memories of Leicester in the mid 1970's and during the ill-fated (and ill-advised) seasons in the Elite league under the Hemsley regime. Really hope this turns out not to be the case for the Brummies 2024 and you get some good breaks
  8. Maybe you're being a bit too harsh on him. Probably his Poland club were exercising a lot of control, and stepping into a new situation partway through a season isn't ideal. If he's available from the start and without strings being attached and pulled he'd be a cracking signing
  9. The suspicion I'm having, is of the BSPL allowing Birmingham into the PL only as an "extra" and with a high risk of the club not being able to complete the season taken fully into account. It was therefore essential to have a solid core of 6 clubs, all of them with stability and a good chance of not just completing the 2024 season, but 2025 as well. If the Brummies do complete season 2024 then it will be a "bonus" - if they can return for 2025 that will be beyond a bonus! So I very much doubt there will be any collective "bailing out" done by the other 6/BSPL if things go wrong at any stage. Survival of the 6 will be uppermost. There were two lame ducks in the 2023 league and the management committee couldnt allow that possibility to repeat in 2024. The performance of Kings Lynn will be of more importance to them, than that of Birmingham. Can just keep fingers crossed it works out ok for Brummies. But I doubt if Ermolenko will be effective or even competent - maybe young Adams will be.
  10. Like it! Especially the white whiskers giving inclusivity to the older supporters
  11. The rooms were all booked in his name, just in case
  12. Conference room no longer available after today, so Buster Chapman has offered the use of his room in an attempt for matters to be concluded
  13. It's being extended over the weekend. Still discussing how to conclude the Jubilee Cup, which was first agenda item.
  14. With the rumoured struggle to produce a 6-team top UK league, is a UK/Denmark league a possibility? Would mean Wednesdays being added to Mon & Thur race nights
  15. When someone changes employer as often as Richie Worrall does, it's often an indication of problems. I know that speedway has built-in lack of permanence and all that but in his case I wonder if there's more to it?
  16. Ah, that makes sense based on past performance! Hope it gets resolved
  17. A successful and timely conclusion of the sale of Leicester speedway is surely in the best interests of the Bates? The Premier League would be in dire straits without Leicester, possibly unable to function, and presumably that situation wouldn't exactly be in the best interests of Sheffield.
  18. Yourself, and ArnieG among posters to this thread seem to have been at the match. For non-attenders it would be easy to presume the terrible accident was caused primarily by track conditions and have to confess it was my initial reaction but after 24 hours started to question that presumption. I guess that nothing can be proven for certain and possibly only Max would really know but even then his recollection could understandably be vague. But going by the Proboards information it looked like Max had had mechanical problems during his previous races and I wonder if there is any connection?
  19. Yes, in the history of sport, this was a fantastic achievement which probably compares with....the Nag's Head Chigwell's unforgettable third place in the third division of the 1983 West Essex Tuesday darts league. Awarded because their playoff opponents were too pi**ed to even hit the board, but a magnificent achievement nonetheless
  20. It could probably be run today, given its a dry and sunny day. But getting everyone available could be a problem.
  21. This business of riders going out to test the track has to be questionable. It sounds a bit like Dominic Cummins and his drive with his kids in his car to test out his eyesight. A serious accident to prove the track isn't rideable - is that sane? Let the captains and ref make the call based on an inspection but don't let riders loose on it or someone is going to end up in hospital
  22. The final days of regimes are never their finest ones. Hope that people who have paid money for no return get it refunded without any hassle
  23. Difficult to defend the club over this. What happened between the decisions to start letting people in, and the call-off? I don't think that any further rain fell - in fact if anything the sky brightened
  24. Last night's rain was heavy. And with cloud filling the sky now and rain having appeared in my forecast the chances of me setting off out are reducing quickly.
