  1. New Track Record at Plymouth v Peterborough 2nd May 2014 Ht3 Kalle Katajisto recorded 50.13.
  2. Well done to the Panthers, they deserved the win. A couple of points to mention. Ht1. Rather harsh on Fisher to be excluded. he was in front, and used the same line that Barker uses every week, in tight and drift out wide to exit the turn.Barker, for some reason decided to stay wide. As he tried cut back, he clipped Fisher. Ht3. Wrong exclusion! Blackbird, out wide, rode in a straight line for too long, leaving Garrity on his outside no chance of turning. Blind side of referee, so to be expected. Ht15. What a ride from Fisher! Disagree with live updates here.Barker inside, Katajisto outside entered turn 3 side by side. Fisher sees a small gap between them, and goes for it. I stand between turns 3 and 4 and genuinely thought, 'this has to be millimetre perfect or its going to be carnage'. Thankfully, he got it spot on as he rounded Barker, but went inside Katajisto in one move. Barker was visibly shaken and still seemed angry after the race finished Please don't get me wrong, I cant stand Fisher. I have criticised him on here many times for poor/dangerous riding. So its only fair to give him the thumbs up when he gets it right. Impressed by Blackbird. R/R worked in Panthers favour, as I doubt that Bjerre would have scored 11, but confident Jensen would have scored more than 5 Rather strange statement from Ashley Taylor while doing the 50/50 draw. Why oh why say that 'once the new green sheets come into effect on Saturday, there is a possibility of a change in the team'? Maybe there is, but until its fully sanctioned and the ink dry on the paperwork, surely it would be better not to say anything? Even if the rider(s) concerned were aware, its not good PR, imo. Ben Reade. I do wish people would leave the guy alone. He is doing his best. Like Smart at Poole, he is a confidence rider. He needs to be riding regularly at NL level to get some wins. Lack of NL home meetings will probably cost him his place.Despite what other might say and think, I find it sad that rider pays the price for the Promoters getting the NL fixtures so wrong. Whatever happens Ben, best wishes for the future, and we will be there cheering you on for the Demons.
  3. Teams as listed on the Official Plymouth website...http://www.plymouthdevils.co/plymouth-v-redcar-plko-cup-preview.html Confirmed as R/R fo Newman. Plymouth: Ben Barker, (R/R), Roland Benko, Rasmus Jensen, Sam Simota. Reserves: Kalle Katajisto, Ben Reade. Redcar: Theo Pijper, Rafal Konopka, Hugh Skidmore, Carl Wilkinson, Aaron Summers. Reserves: Jan Graversen, Luke Crang. If the previous home meetings go to form, Poor, good, poor, good, then Redcar to win easily!! Not much in it either way for me. Your thoughts?
  4. Strange Lewy, I didn't notice any posts from you complaining about Todds gating when he was a Devil? If you go back through last seasons results alone, there was a rerun in 23 races involving Todd. Not all his fault, but most were for unsatisfactory starts. Plus he got several warnings. I think he is one of the best at anticipating starts, Sadly todays referees seem unable to distinguish between having super fast reactions and cheating. The Somerset fans had better get used to writing ''rerun'' in races involving in Todd. Strange meeting on Friday, talk about a meeting of 2 halves. Hts1-7, wet and heavy 16-26, Hts 8-14, dry and slick 33-12! Both Wright and Starke can hold their heads up for their efforts. Good team effort from the Devils once that 8-1 was scored. Wonderful Ht15 to finish with. Barker gated and gone. Morris and Wright tucked into 2nd/3rd. Simota took both on the home straight starting lap 2. Such a shame he couldn't hold it as he was going like the proverbial train. The Rebels came back and held on, but you sensed one mistake and Simota would punish them. A totally unexpected win for the Devils.
  5. Colin McKee for Poole in 1966 took every one of his programmed rides, and didn't take a tactical substitute in any either!
  6. In 1968, Nigel Boocock scored 16pts out of the Coventry team total of 24, as the Bees lost 54-24 at Wimbledon. Impressive to say the least.
  7. Plymouth... New track record again this week. Ben Barker posted a 50.16 in Ht1. Little else for any Devils fans to enthuse over.
  8. Kalle did only have 2 programmed rides, Ht 2, 2pts and Ht12, 3pts. The real mess up was taking him out of his programmed ride in Ht9, were he could and should have had a T/R. Not the best use of resources.
  9. Unaware till now, but Friday saw a new track record! http://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/Rye-House-Rockets-42-Plymouth-Devils-48-Report/story-20920259-detail/story.html So the smallest track in League racing is now even smaller, but at the moment, considerably slower!
  10. Unaware till now, but Friday saw a new track record! http://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/Rye-House-Rockets-42-Plymouth-Devils-48-Report/story-20920259-detail/story.html So the smallest track in League racing is now even smaller!
  11. After Garritys somersaulting back flip last night, I assume the guest is for him, with r/r for Bunyan. Any injury updates on Garrity?
  12. No one saw that result coming, did they? Any news on Garrity?, frightening crash to watch. A combination of Rye riding badly and the Devils up for it made for a very one sided meeting. Devils: Barker rode poorly in his first 2 rides, but then it was back to normal. Benko was excellent value for each of his points. Newman rode the best I've ever seen him at the SBA.Has he finally realised the fastest way round is not on the white line? Jensen backed him up effectively. Simota was superb reminded me of Fisher, but in a lot more control! More nights like that will give the promotion a massive headache. Why drop him for Davies? Then again, they have changed their minds before...... Katajisto was in far more in control than last week. Reade got involved this time round, looking a lot better. Rockets: Kennett started strongly but faded, Tresarrieu was completely anonymous. Why give him the B/W when Bowen was the obvious one? Garrity was plain bonkers! Wild and out of control long before his big crash. Not seen him that bad since one of his early outings for Buxton .Boxall, same as Kennett. Bowen tried, but never seriously threatened. Lambert had a nightmare. Why didn't he take a ride in Ht14? Announcements were confusing to say the least. Overall, the Devils riders were really up for it. Even when being outgated, they all seemed to make some great 1st turns. "One swallow doesn't make a summer", but this was a very encouraging performance. Now to keep it up.
  13. Oh dear, terrible performance from the Devils. They were awfully slow from the starts in the first half, but got better as the meeting progressed. For Plymouth, Worrall was the star. Apart from Ht1, he was a joy to watch. Newman had one good ride. Jensen was very poor, either just missing his partner or fence, all over the place. Reade is a major worry, finishing about a quarter of a lap behind in each of his races. Hardly noticed Samota at all. Benko unlucky to be leading when Kalle fell and was disqualified, then falling in the rerun. What about kamikaze Kalle? On the parade lap, he nearly took Newman off on bend 3. He CLEARLY hit Wrights leg in Ht2 and then spun off in the same place in Ht8. Needs to calm down a bit. Reminded us of Barker about 3-4 years go. Really felt sorry for Wright. Wrongly disqualified in Ht2 then 2 chain breaks. Very unlucky. Very impressed with Starke. The NL meeting was called off on the Friday, yet riders were practising all Saturday afternoon!
  14. There are also some fixtures where Newman will be missing at OTA for the Devils. Fixture mayhem.
  15. Fair cop! Not as bad as the continual announcements at the track...... 'Ht16 will be match race for the Bronze Medal'' !!
  16. First and foremost, I sincerely hope Brandon Freemantle is ok after his high speed and very spectacular crash. Frightening to watch. Impressed with young Kyle Harris. Understandably dropped off the pace as the meeting progressed, but definitely one to watch. Should feel proud of his efforts. Great effort from Morely, especially as he held off a couple barges from Smart, not giving an inch. Smart actually fell while trying a 3rd time! Got to be in with a shout at next weeks U21 semi Final. Solid efforts from Reade and Smart, but in general gating let the Demons down The live updates suggests the following...Quote ''So Simon Lambert claims the new SBA NL track record in heat 1 - That's because the track is a slightly different size and so the winner was always going to hold the TR. Same will of course apply when the PL gets up and running''. Read more: http://speedwayupdates.proboards.com/thread/13051/devon-kent-nlkoc-15-15pm#ixzz2w9STcz9h Why so? As far as I'm aware, the increase has been done from the outside, not the inside. The track measurement, according to the programme is still 216 metres, so no new track records. At least no mentions about it last night.(NL:49.50 Thomas Jorgensen PL 48.06 Ryan Fisher). Well done to Kent on their win, thoroughly deserved.
  17. I had the same problem. I then worked out that all I had to do was click on the H1,H2,A1,A2 etc, etc. NOT the middle of the box. Hey presto, it works! Simples!
  18. To win any trophies or show any sort of improvement up the table requires an increase in riders averages. To be honest, I'm struggling to see where this is going to happen. Barker will hold his own. Davies, assuming he starts, will drop initially due to lack of home advantage, but will be about the same at the finish. Jensen will drop after his first away meeting,(to around 6.50) but he will, I think, increase by around 1.5 points overall. Newman will surely drop as his SBA form is abysmal. Maybe if he sorts that out quickly, he might stay about the same. Benko is the big unknown. is continental form is good, but hey are bigger tracks Can only see a drop in his starting average. Katajisto will improve while at reserve, overall improve by around 1.5 points Reade could well hold his own, maybe add a little. The extra track time with the Demons will certainly help his confidence. Overall, not enough to get near the playoffs. Lower half of the table at best. However, I can see changes being made fairly quickly, so wouldn't expect this line up to finish the season. Happy to be proven wrong in my assessment.
  19. Any updates on the Alex Davies visa scenario? Season is underway yet the Devils full team still not confirmed.
  20. The Demons take to the track for the first time in the new era on Saturday 15th March. Who will win this one? While hoping for home win of course, I believe Kent are the stronger side all round. That said, the Demons are having an official practice during Saturday afternoon, so will know what to expect from the track in the evening. Perhaps aching limbs from this might go against the Demons? For me, an away win by 8+. What are your thoughts?
  21. Well done Diamonds. looking a bit iffy early on, but they got going in the end. Excellent from Ludvig, who in the past, has started like a rocket, then faded. This time he kept it going. Good to see that 3 of the top 4 teams in the League are top heavy with 'Brits'. ;-) Good luck in the play offs.
  22. Poole have done this on each of their Play Off victories. These meetings were promoted properly. Cant say the same for most throughout the season. Promoters need to get back to basics. PROMOTE.
  23. Woffy gets pulled up for a perfect start in the 1st Semi....... Hampel gets a roller in the Final and gets away with it! Superb effort from Tai. Up the Brits!!
