Betting Odds To Win The Pl
Penny Cross replied to greyhoundp's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I like the look of Scunthorpe. Might just have a flutter on them. Go Scorpions!!! -
Below is a link to 3 images taken from Google Earth of The Rochester Stadium. 1. 1940 appears to show the remnants of a speedway track inside the greyhound circuit. 2.1960 no signs of the inner track at all. 3.2013 Housing has replaced the Stadium. http://www.shutterfly.com/lightbox/view.sfly?fid=7a7bbf9ce776aa9a6d9889752d9a603c#1425288803512 I only looked into trying to find the Stadium after reading this thread. Fascinating to follow. I have also used the time bar at the top of Google Earth to accurately locate defunct circuits. For instance, New Cross Stadium re appears, Edinburgh very clearly shows up Marine Gardens, Meadowbank, Powderhall and even Armadale in the 40's! Even Exeter from a working arena, to being demolished, to the housing estate it now is.

If You Could Bring Back One Rider...
Penny Cross replied to TonyMac's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Tommy Jansson. The greatest ever rider NOT to win the World Title. He seemingly had everything slotting into place at the right time. I am totally convinced he would have won the Title at least once. Id also love to bring back Johnnie S Hoskins. Put him in charge and let the fun begin!! -
SCB is quite right. I don’t agree with that rule at all, but do agree, Eagles haven’t broken the rules. As for investing in a Rule book, perhaps the Dugard family should have purchased one. After all, the rule about riders having some sort of partiality would automatically come in on a 5pt assessed average has been the same for years. Then this mess wouldn’t have surfaced in the first place! I genuinely object to any Brit being dropped for a non Brit. If this NZ turns out to be a good rider, who will he represent in the future? NZ of course, which is why I object, its nothing personal. Oh and another thing, young Ellis Perks was born in the UK, to British parents, so doesn’t even come into this argument! His family moved to Aussie around 7/8 years ago.

Excactly the reason he shouldnt be allowed in the NL.

Read this from the Plymouth Herald. http://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/Jack-Holder-way-Plymouth-Devils-Ryan-Fisher-doubt/story-26049222-detail/story.html Ever read such an error strewn press release? There are so many anomalies it beggars belief. I would like to think the Devils Promotion didn’t actually explain the things written in this item, in the way they are recorded. Jack Holder is DEFINITELY coming over.Good news.Well, maybe! Possibly no Ryan Fisher, (good news for me!) so a new No.1 would be required. Fair enough. It goes on to say that either Risager or Newman could be promoted to No.1. Assuming the rules still say the the No.1 in your averages must ride at No.1, IF Risager (7.36 )is promoted, Jack can still ride. However, if Newman (6.51) is promoted, Jack CANNOT ride, as his assessed 7pt average would make him the NO.1! It would also mean losing Risager as well!! I think the Promoters need to get hold of the reporter very quickly and explain the situation more clearly. Our sport is difficult enough to follow without poor press releases like this.

What about 'Oddy Oddy Oddy' Fossengen?

Johnny Fitzpatrick,

I agree with Halifaxtiger in that they should have dropped Warwick. He gained his average largely from his exceptional home form on IOW. Not so good away.I think his average will drop, as I don't see him as a small track specialist. Johnson however, although slightly below Warwick average wise, would imo, increase his average by around 1pt. Im quite sure he would have been a high scoring and consistent scorer at Arlington. Also exceptional with sponsors and actively works hard to get them and keep them Not at all impressed with Dugards press release. Clearly he hoped the NZ lad would come in on a 3pt average. So why not say so? Poor PR. Sorry Eagles fans, I genuinely believe the wrong rider has been dropped.
-
Whos going to pay for the Eagles style Kevlars hes having made? Not to mention matching bike covers and guards. Doesn't just let down the rider, but sponsors as well. I agree with whoswinnin86. NL is for young Brits, not some Johnny foreigner to get in via a loophole.

Help Needed - Sheffield Team Pic In The Star W/e 24th Jan
Penny Cross replied to salty's topic in Years Gone By
Looks like Dave Hemus to me. -
So, Sam Chapman announced as the 3pt reserve. I cant help but think that James Shanes would have been a better choice. That's assuming he wanted it, of course.
-
With Benko now not coming over, it creates a big problem. He has to stay at home to help with the family business. He was one rider that I thought would improve on his starting average. Assuming Holder signs on a 7pt average, that will leave 7.64 for 2 reserves. Who now?
-
Other rider possibly Darryl Ritchings?
-
Yes Bob, I did indeed! However, I lost over 90 %of them in a fire, along with 1000's of photos. A fire in a neighbours house swept through the roof of the terraced housing, causing water damage. It was almost a week before I could get back up there to sort it out. By then, the damage had been done. It was not a pleasant sight. Oh not the damage, the fact I stood there and cried my heart out! I was lucky that as a kid, Mum and Dad were speedway nuts and took me everywhere with them. We even took holidays to take in a meeting or two. Until a few years ago, I used to go all over Europe to take in a couple of meetings over the weekends as well.In the UK, I have watched racing at every current venue, with the exception of Northside. Ive been there, but not seen even a lap of practice!

Birmingham Brummies 2015
Penny Cross replied to ProudtobeaBrummie's topic in National League Speedway
From the depths of despair a few months ago, to this. Very exiting looking team being assembled by Phil Morris. Well done Tony Mole. I look forward to watching this team progress with great interest. Welcome back to British Speedway. -

Because the highest authority in this country, the Government UK border control agency say so. It really is that simple.

My definition of a 'has been' is a rider who has already peaked in his scoring powers and unlikely to improve. Simota started 2014 on a 7.40 average and finished on 6.10. This despite being at reserve for quite a while. This season he would be in the 1-5, so I don't see any him improving much at all, if anything. I do quite enjoy watching him ride, exciting at times but again very unpredictable. As for handing over bottle of bubbly, nothing unusual there, most riders give something to their sponsors or helpers. AM...why will that comment haunt me? No sleep lost here, I assure you. The signing of Risgaer doesn't fill me with great optimism either. Yes he looks ok at the SBA, but remember he was only beating some poor Devils sides in the past.
-
As I am a paying customer, I feel I have the right to express my views. You are fully entitled to yours. We disagree. So be it. I know you attend the SBA 3 or 4 times a season, judging by your comments on here. I have seen far more meetings there than I have missed. I remain unconvinced that Fish is going to be the out and out NO1 others expect. I will go to some meetings, as I enjoy watching certain riders. Of course, I will be cheering them on, big time.
-
So what has he done since? Dropped his average by 2pts that's what! Besides the SBA is a very fair circuit, not the 'homers' paradise that is Armadale. That said, I will swap Fish for Cook if you like him that much! Pretty please?
-
Oh dear, the forum Police out in force telling me what I should be thinking. I genuinely do not believe that Fisher is an out and out No.1. As MikeyT says, far too inconsistent. He didn't show anything like that sort of form when last a Devil. He scored an lot of points courtesy of Barkers exceptional team riding. As most folk on here agree, the PL has become stronger over the last few years. Why should I believe he will become so much better? HalifaxTiger, in an earlier post on this thread you said Plymouth could regret letting Barker go. Now you are saying he was going anyway, re the Lakeside link! I agree with FormerDevils comment though. As the Promotion have stated in press releases, 'they only need another 100 PAYING customers to break even'.So Skippy, my partner and I WOULD be missed if we don't go. Perhaps you wouldn't be!! Barncooseboy, I am not the photographer lady you mention. I agree that the SBA in general does provide some excellent speedway. I simply don't want to waste my hard earned money watching a rider whom I have very little regard for. After seeing Somersets exiting line up for 2015, Plymouths next signings had better be 'up and coming' riders, not old has beens like Simota and Franc. I wont be holding my breath.
