Oh really? Obvious you weren't at IoW v KL in the cup a few years back. You should have seen the Docs cert presented to verify one the KL riders wasn't fit.(can't remember who) went on to use r/r. It had obviously been in his pocket or wallet for ages, such was smudging and disrortion! Despite heavy protests, Buster got away with it and KL went through. -

Starke likes it at BV. In fact the Aces tried to sign him when Birmingham closed. -

Would be good if the Plymouth promotion would allow the Falcons to stage a meeting at the SBA. Well done to both teams. Good to see you back. -

Unless the rules have changes, its all about the 8 day rule. Guests can only be used providing they haven't appeared at that track within the previous 8 days. This rule doesn't apply to guests for No.1's. As Greenwood rode at the EoES on Wednesday, wouldn't that be the correct procedure? -

I never said he touched him, did I? FYI: Impede means: to make it more difficult for something to happen or more difficult for someone to do something. Look it up in the dictionary. Fisher was gifted most of his points, couldn't even overtake Morris. Ht13 was the only time he deserved anything. While I don't like Fisher, it wont stop me attending when certain riders turn up with their teams, i.e.: Robert Lambert. With all the financial worries recently, its a good job I do still attend on occasions, isn't it? Apart from HT1, where Lambert clearly clattered into Holder, he was a joy to watch. He also did something that not one Devils rider has done for ages, he looked for his partner wherever possible. Excellent team riding with Palm Toft. I wish Newman would realise that his head can turn instead of his selfish attitude of 'head down backside up' and clear off routine. After all it is a TEAM sport. Despite all the help Peterborough and the referee gave to the Devils, they still struggled to win. A very lucky win. -

Not what Former Devil has said at all. YOU are talking crap. Peterborough lost this meeting, accompanied by some atrocious refereeing. Not a member of the Devils supporters club is she? Fisher up to his old tricks again, clearly impeding Blackbird causing him to fall in Ht11, before crashing himself as he crossed the start/finish line. How on earth she came to the decision of excluding Blackbird I will never understand. I sincerely hope Lewis wasn't fined for his unscheduled visit to see her. Fisher should have gone and that would have changed the whole complexion of the meeting. Ht15, Newman missed the gate, tried to go between the Panthers, locked up and fell on bend 2. Simple decision. Oh no, she orders a rerun with all 4! Well done Ashley Morris. Deserved more points for his effort. Gave a very mature interview when asked about being dropped. Got an excellent reception and was suitably humbled. Welcome back anytime. -

Has always been the same, even in the U15's a few seasons ago. His language and attitude if things didn't go his way were terrible. Helmet throwing and punching things(not people) and even kicking his own bike. Shame really, as he is talented. -
RIP Arne. A classy, fast determined rider who I thoroughly enjoyed watching. Made it look easy. Is there anyone out there with a photo of Arne in Pooles colours? Ive searched my collection, but cant find one.

Plymouth V Glasgow 5 June 2015
Penny Cross replied to SharpenRake's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
A half decent crowd, but one of the poorest meetings in terms of passing for a long time at the SBA. Plymouth contrived to lose this one rather than Glasgow winning it. A combination of poor gating, riding the wrong lines, and one rider not looking interested. I have recently pointed out the poor form of Morten Risager. Cant do that after that performance. Sublime in all ways. Looked a totally different rider, deservedly getting MoM award. Spoke honestly and openly and apologised for letting everyone down. Fair play to him for that, as he always gives a good interview. Holder looked superb in his first 2 rides, even clocking a sub 50 seconds winning time in Ht3. Unfortunately it all went wrong in Ht9. Summers pushed him wide in a typical 1st bend, he locked up and was forced to switch lines. Meanwhile, Kurtz had tried to avoid this, but picked up a little too much grip, and t-boned Holder. IMO it was a 50/50 call who to exclude. In the rerun, Holder gave it his all after a dreadful start. He got up with the team riding TIgers, but overdid it on bend 4, crashing heavily. Unsurprisingly not really in Ht14. Newman didn't make a gate all night. Rode a very wide line in Ht10 to blast past everyone round the first turn.Otherwise hardly noticeable. Risager was Sublime. Kurtz perhaps a little unlucky to be excluded in Ht9, but a steady if unspectacular season home debut. Holder see above. Fisher started like a rocket and even I thought he looks good! Went back to his old ways of over riding and looking like a novice until Ht13 when he gated and went. Benko was not really on the pace, although he did beat an uninterested Fisher in Ht7. Simota needs a rocket up his backside. Very poor from him and imo, the reason Devils lost. Stuck to the white line like glue and was never likely to pass anyone. The terraces were screaming for him to go wide, which he only did on the last lap of his last ride! He made up significant ground. If only..... Sarjeant still up to his starting tricks. Moved 3 times and scored 7+2 stationary twice and failed to score. Enough said. The whole Tigers team contributed although a little disappointed in Morris. Where did Palovaara come from? Wasn't expecting that. Lawson started slowly but came good when it mattered. For Summers, read the opposite. Any reason Berge was replaced in Ht12? Back to the drawing board for the Devils. -
Surely as Harris is the NO.1 from 1st June, it can only be R/R for Andersen?

It seems that the Devils have been taken over,by Allen Trump. See here: http://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/Plymouth-Devils-gone-Trump-takeover/story-26584557-detail/story.html Shame that both teams will be missing exciting riders, who cant gate, but give their all every race. Holder will be on World U21 duty in Terenzano while Auty is sadly injured. Never the less Scunny have booked Barker to guest. Should keep things lively. Should be a relatively comfortable home win, with Simota, Kurtz and Fisher all able to take R/R for the missing Holder. Interesting to see how Alex Davies goes after the abortive attempt to sign him last season.

Point proven, yet again Former Devil. This comment from live updates of the P'bro v Devils meeting today. See here.....http://speedwayupdates.proboards.com/thread/14491/peterborough-plymouth-mon-plkoc-2pm?page=1&scrollTo=270793 Heat 13: Toft, Newman, Fisher, R Lambert 3-3 (40-38) 60.3 Line Up: Allen Toft, R Lambert, Newman, Fisher Comments: Toft takes R/R for Peterborough. Outrageous race! Simply unbelievable. All 4 over each other for all 4 laps. Passing galore but im convinced the Devils would have had a 5-1 had it not been for Fishers selfishness. He basically chopped Newman on a couple of occasions. Team game isn't it? Not in fishers book, shocking! Nevertheless it was a unbelievable race! Lets answer some of the questions posed regarding Ryan Fisher. Good to watch? Not for me. Hes all over the place like an out of control junior. Inside, outside, weaving all over the place. Im only commenting on his racing at the SBA, as I don’t travel anymore. Some of his moves border on dangerous. Still not sure how he didn’t crash and take others with him on Friday. He falls off far too often for a rider of his experience. Friday, after chasing Manzares for a couple of laps, never looked like taking him, he simply slid off on his own. Only got a point because there were only 3 riders in the race! A few weeks ago, he was off gate 1, took the others straight to the fence, forcing Morris to either bale out or visit the burger van. On Friday youd think his life depended coming 2nd in Ht15, such was his efforts at blocking and almost bringing Newman off. Averages. Its been mentioned that Ashley Morris has dropped from his green sheet starting average of 4.31. As of 1st June, it stands at 4.00, making a drop of 0.31 so far. Fisher started on 7.89 and now stands at 6.74, making a drop of 1.15. Significantly worse, Id say. Its Fishers lack of early season form that has left the Devils struggling, far more than some of the others. He is only now starting to score better.40+ pts from 4 meetings is good, but just shows up even more how badly he has been riding so far, as his average is still well down. Regarding his machinery problem, thats down to his unprofessionalism. He only recently discovered that the frame was twisted. The number of times he falls, surely something as basic as that should have been noticed long before it took him to find it? A twisted frame is fairly easy to spot, even I can do that, and have done! Re Ashley Morris. Give the lad a break! He was coming back from serious injuries. He had a new home track in the EL and PL. He needed time to settle, but frequently taking 6 or 7 rides was bound to take its toll. I am upset that hes been dropped. Risager has also dropped his starting average, not by 0.31 but by 0.81 from 7.36 to 6.55. To me, he is the rider who should be looking over his shoulder. The way he got in Holders way on Friday suggested he was helping Ipswich. He team rode him out to perfection. I genuinely don’t think Kurtz is the answer to the Devils problems. Risager is to me on borrowed time.Off track he is very good, but on track just lately, he has been very poor. -

You have every right to be annoyed. Although not arriving until 7pm, we were told that it had been announced that Devils will cover 3 of Ashleys rides with Konopka! Straight away we knew this would not happen. The reserve rule has been in place for more years than I can remember. It was only on the parade lap that it was announced about 3 riders only in 3 races. The following is from Ashleys dad, as posted on the Plymouth forum. If people think Ashley and myself travel all way to bristol in bank holiday traffic then van breaks down is with holding services then you can think again. While I m on ash didn't t know about being axed until he call trig to say we were struggling to get there. As for been sacked just show again the only professional part of speedway are the riders and merchanics. Until pl follows El with british reserves this country will struggle. We ve enjoyed been in plymouth team fans and team have been great but we re left with bad taste after this ash coming back from injury been made to do 7 rides most matches done his job most matches and then sacked is frankly embarrassing for the club. Read more: http://plymouthdevils.proboards.com/thread/6363/friday-22nd-devils-ipswich?page=3#ixzz3axEQnRzz Fair enough. As it happens, yesterday I was in Cheddar. I rejoined the M5 at J22 (Somerset Speedway) at 3pm.The normal 1.5 hour drive back to Plymouth took just short of 2 hours. Bristol is around 30 mins further North of J22. Assuming that Ashley arrives at the track early, say 5.30pm, he would have probably told them at around 3pm of his problems.(I don't know, just surmising) In my opinion, the Promotion would have had time to organise a replacement, even if it was only the likes of Matt Bates who lives in Exeter. As it was, before the meeting, the rider only known as 'Polish Dave' due to our inept Presenter, was practicing. He crashed, machine carried away, yet he appeared at the parade of riders, but not announced as starting. Bizarre. Announcements regarding Ashley varied from 'not here', 'held up in traffic' and 'broken down'. No official announcement regarding Kurtz was made until after Ht12.We were told to wait for a press release about a new signing. Most shouted 'we know its Kurtz'. Even then it was only when pressured that Trigger told us what we already knew! Awful way to conduct business. The comment about former fans favourite was muted at best. The comments on the Devils forum regarding Kurtz last few meetings for them were pretty damning about him deliberately reducing his average to sign for Somerset. yes, including you Lewy! Now you think he is a great signing. Going to need extra pens for future Devils fixtures. With Kurtz and Newman renowned for moving at the starts, I can see a lot of reruns! It says on the Ipswich v Berwick thread on live updates that Ash was told by the Berwick promotion that he was being dropped. Incredible. Yet the first time anyone from the club he rides for mentioned it was once he had broken down. I remain convinced that Ash would have ridden and then told 'you are fired' Also announced was that Allen Trump has financially secured the immediate future of the Devils. We have already got his air fence from Oxford! A new long term lease has also been secured. Finally, to Ashley and your Dad : There were a lot of angry fans at the way this has happened. You are both highly thought of on the terraces. You will be welcomed back here anytime you come back. -

Heavy wet and bumpy for first 6/7 races. Once it slickened off,Tungate got going. Not a particularly impressive Ippo win,but Devils were poor in so many respects. Good effort from Konopka though. Very poor from the Devils Manager, only officially telling Ash Morris he was being replaced once Ash confirmed the difficulty in getting there tonight.Downright pathetic. I am annoyed Ash has gone and the manner in which its been handled. Thank you for your tireless efforts for us,Ash. So sorry you've been treated so badly. Good luck for whoever you sign for. -

Bob Kilby at Poole 30th June 1971.Southern Riders Champs. Scored a 3 and 2 in his first 2 rides, then excluded for tapes. Ranted and raved that it wasn't his fault. He then decided to walk out of the meeting. Walking across the centre green to the changing rooms, he stopped to allow a race to finish. As an Exeter Falcon, he was soundly booed for his actions. He calmly smiled, turned his back to the crowd, bent over and between his legs came a 2 fingered salute! Needless to say he was 'welcomed' at Poole in a similar fashion for many seasons after!

So long as you get a bus to Plympton, via Marsh Mills, you will be fine. Ask for McDonalds and the track is quite literally on the opposite side of the road.(About a 200 metre walk) -
Well I really enjoyed the meeting. Huge congratulations to the new owners. As others have said, they have transformed the stadium infrastructure. Certainly looked good on TV. Good crowd, good racing, some interesting incidents too! Having witnessed Ashley Birks crash at Plymouth, where he broke his back, I admit to holding my breath as he fell in the Bates/Konopka coming together. Incidentally, I agree with Bates exclusion. A good advert for PL racing. Well done to all concerned.
