  1. After looking at the league table this morning and looking at the remaining published fixtures for September and October, it does seem that there are still a number of fixtures to be arranged/rearranged. According to my maths, there are 11 remaining fixtures which need to be run, only 6 of which are included in the fixture list. Admittedly there are some "reserved" dates, but it does seem to be a bit late in the day to have this number of fixtures not yet arranged, bearing in mind that playoff teams have already been identified. Can't recall what the same position has been in previous seasons, but just now wondering if all fixtures will be completed? Workington have the most outstanding (6 according to BSPA league table).
  2. If you want to compare speedway with football - fine. The difference is that in football teams earn their right to be in playoffs by finishing in the four places below the two automatically promoted sides. In speedway that may not happen e.g., Redcar could end up in a playoff position by reference to number of league points, but not compete in the playoffs because they have missed a cut off date. Hence my comment that league points earned after the cut off date are of no consequence.
  3. Glad Tsunami on the ball with this denial. Speedway gets enough bad press without this kind of spurious rumour.
  4. And Redcar end up in a play off spot but not be eligible to compete. Must study harder to understand this sport
  5. Don't see the point of fixtures after cut off when points to either team are purely academic. From Sheffield's perspective, they will still be competing in play offs and run the risk of injuries in a totally meaningless fixture. Maybe I am missing the point.
  6. Despite all the conflicting views on the makeup of the Newcastle team and the rights and wrongs of the rule book, I have to say this was one of the most entertaining meetings I have been to all season. There was a large contingent of Bears fans (in the context of recent years) probably hopeful of a win against a weakened Newcastle team and with every chance of earning a place in the play offs. The Redcar riders were certainly up for it and Barker and Garrity rode their hearts out. A special word for Nathan Greaves who gave it his all and put in an exceptional shift - very impressed with his efforts. For the Diamonds, Ludo and Steve were immense and did the Newcastle team proud especially by holding their nerve in Heat 15 and coming out with an all important 5 1. It wouldn't have happened of course without Bens one point in Heat 14 - reminded me of Jamie Habbin's one point in the nineties which helped us lift the Gold Cup from Peterborough. Hope the Bears still succeed in reaching playoffs. One last word, just to mention the youngster who does practice laps before the meeting starts (is it Archie?). He has come on wonders and really does attack the track. With his really smooth style and confident style of riding, he surely is a British star in the making. I'm sure his mentor/s should be congratulated for supporting and encouraging this undoubted talent
  7. Absolutely priceless :t: Diamonds too honourable for this - but hang on this is speedway - so morals don't really come into it
  8. How about 3 out of these 4 in Diamonds kevlars next season? https://www.speedwaygb.co/news.php?extend.33086 (courtesy of Youtube/Rye House)
  9. Would there be speedway at Newcastle without George? Difficult to envisage speedway surviving for long at Newcastle without the continued devotion of the English family. I stand to be shot down in flames from those who know better!
  10. Unfortunately even "Google Translate" won't decipher the meaning of this post. At least the subject title is clear and a nice reminder thankyou
  11. Its a well know fact that breakdown operators don't work that stretch of the A1 - Bandit country!
  12. Lot of known bugs between Berwick and Newcastle. Normally only last 24 hours though!
  13. Excellent news! So no apparent ill effects (that we know of) after doing 24 laps flat out on Monday. Made of stern stuff these riders
  14. Those who watched the whole of the British Final on television may have been mightily impressed with Steve's "pain management". Not once did I spot him in any form of obvious discomfort, or flinching and perhaps this is a huge advert for whatever form of medication he was taking to allow him to compete so well. I concede however that tv coverage does not capture everything and perhaps those who actually attended the event may have a different take on this. Anyway, he did put up a marvellous show and I certainly do not begrudge him an ounce of success however one might feel about his absences from Belle Vue and Newcastle team meetings
  15. At times I hate this sport. Wonder how Steve got on at hospital today with his suspected broken scaphoid?
  16. And also Bewley at number 2 I believe must help the Diamonds cause
  17. Well that would be the icing on the cake
  18. Sounds like another embarrassing show on the road from our 2 man team. Agree with previous poster, end of season Only Best Pairs to look forward to now unless Mr Vatcher has a rule to deny us even that possibility

  20. Peterborough's makeshift team could easily spring a surprise tonight with their selection of guests. Rob Branford goes well round Brough and could easily hit double figures from 7 rides. Dany G is going well at the moment and if Lasse turns up tonight the Panthers could well achieve a total of 45+. Hope I'm wrong but our reserves are going to be an achilles heel for the rest of the season unless changes are made. Can't see us reaching playoffs.
  21. Please don't say that Robert Brandford can come back and do the business as a guest once more
