  1. I would say 100% of people who were spoken too know workington have a track already. Good for them on selling 'a bit' of merchandise.
  2. I think thats a big assumption that everyone arguing for one league is not a fan of the prem. I am, but logic and history dictates its not working and not affordable in the current climate, if and when it gets to a point that it is then more the merrier, i would like nothing more than two full leagues of teams but it just isnt managable.
  3. So what happens if we get to January and there are still only 5 confirmed prem teams? Does the premiership have a year off? Is a team forced to move up against there will?
  4. 14 teams with 5 man teams needs 70 riders, this gives each rider 6 rides a meeting (ignoring any potential replacement rides). This in theory would cut down on the amount of signing on fees per rider, less cost of machinery etc but riders could earn more with more riders and more points money. As a more radical solution I’d be tempted to go down the route of one big league where each meeting is a four team tournament, you then have only 4 riders per team (maybe a fifth youngster) and the potential of three sets of away fans instead of just one.
  5. They haven’t, but I’ve read on here multiple times this season that the crowds have been poor
  6. They haven’t, but I’ve read on here multiple times this season that the crowds have been poor
  7. Then you read that Belle Vue had some of the lowest crowds ever this season, so has that had any affect?
  8. I think it says a lot really that even teams like Poole can’t compete in the premiership, makes you wonder how the teams currently in the top league do have the money to afford it, it cannot be sustainable anymore
  9. which is? it definitely isnt forcing two teams up for a start...
  10. I don’t think anyone is under the illusion one league would solve all of speedways problems, but it might be a necessity the way things are going.
  11. exactly which is why no one would take it seriously. I think its time to admit the illusion of a top league has failed and to cut their cloth accordingly and drop to one big league with less riders per team.
  12. I would say you are correct in that assumption, but whatever team fancies it would basically be a sacrificial lamb, and clearly no current championship team want to do it either as I daresay we would have heard something from now.
  13. Which is one of the major things wrong, promoters need to stop bending over backwards for the riders
  14. not a chance i would say, the houses are basically built up to the fence. Theres no car park left either right?
  15. i think Harrison has already shown he is much more dedicated than Boughen
  16. ive said for a while british riders under 24 should get a 15% reduction on averages, then british riders over 24 get a 5% reduction.
  17. Personally think Perry and hodder at reserve makes perfect sense. Wouldn’t have such a weak number 2 though, but if both stayed at reserve all year they could both really kick on
  18. I know there are flaws with every model but I would do something like the below. One big league with 6 man teams, number 6 must be British under 19, another must be British under 21 10% average reduction on British riders under the age of 24 5% average reduction on British riders over the age of 24 Both of the should encourage signing British riders, as well as potentially reducing costs and attracting more riders to give speedway a go helping the talent pool over the next few years. I’d also be tempted to offer 5% off riders staying at the same team to encourage teams to sign the same riders every year and encourage some form of loyalty between riders and teams/fans. British final over three rounds. KO cup and league only, no play offs
  19. it might be in the rulebook but its not enforced, it definitely wasnt this year.
  20. there is no such thing. riders will just ride where they want, as proved by this years rising star picks.
  21. Ive said it before and ill say it again, Simon Lambert has done much more for the sport than your inane and nonsensical posts on here ever will.
