  1. Should be of no surprise if he has already implied that type of threat in the belief that UK speedway cannot do without him. However, in todays climate and profile of speedway promoters and officials, it most certainly can. So if Chapman does want to take his bat and ball home so be it. Put simply, one person is nowhere near being bigger than the sport and as such Chapman cannot be allowed to hold any part of it to ransom.
  2. It’s just weird or even bizarre that Chapman “postpones” meetings that are capable of being run. Ok, he’s the one who has to deal with the short term cash-flow challenge but he simply cannot be allowed to be the tail that wags the dog. The BSPA need to hit him where it hurts the most which is a financial penalty (fine or fixture awarded to Lions) and be informed clearly that such similar actions will not be tolerated in the future.
  3. He won’t want to lose the amount of money involved in doing so. And to be clear. Nothing is forcing him to do anything other than his own self centred actions.
  4. Good point but “No” because Ipswich were the away team & Chapman wasn’t the promoter.
  5. Your rider is not available due to long established (and agreed) rules regarding priority being given to Polish Speedway on Thursdays. This is the same as Premier League clubs having first call on riders in preference to The Championship or National Leagues.
  6. Agreed. Award the result 0-90. no restaging required. Given that Chapman claims running speedway costs him money, he should welcome such a penalty.
  7. Absolutely. The sort of weather that generates a good attendance
  8. Yes it has been said earlier but you do emphasise an important fact which Chapman avoided by referring to December as a date when the meetings were not in the international diary. Also worthwhile recognising that this meeting has been arranged as replacement for the one originally planned for 28th April, the one Chapman cancelled due to the weather “forecast being not good” & not only did it not rain, it was sunny most of the day! So clearly he chose the rearranged date without referring to the international fixture list & now he’s tried to cover up his error. Which hopefully the powers that be have seen through.
  9. But Chapman thinks more about cash than caring about where his team finishes in the league, so deducting points is not a particular deterrent.. The more equitable punishment would be a significant financial penalty i.e. hit him in the pocket which will make him think twice before trying to pull similar stunts again.
  10. and 100% unavailable as known for at least the past four weeks!
  11. This time, Chapmans narcistic behavior has been called to account by the appropriate authorities and hopefully his stubborn and arrogant nature will be penalised accordingly.
  12. Although likely that other promoters will stay quiet on the matter, or tow the official line, it would be interesting to hear the views of the Leicester owners/promoters as this latest action by Buster has established yet another example of how low UK speedway as slumped as a professionally (run) sport. To be clear, there is no way the action proposed by Chapman should have been endorsed by either the CEO or the collective responsible authority.
  13. In fairness to Speedway in general and the RS system in particular, History is full of young aspiring sportsmen being released ("spat out") by their chosen team sport. Football in particular but rugby & cricket to name a few others have also done their fair share. That said, some of those rejected have, after a "reset" come back and made good in their chosen sporting profession albeit via a different route than they originally envisaged. Others, meanwhile have come to the realisation that they simply were not good enough for the elite level & either quit altogether or enjoyed time as a semi-pro/amateur participant.
  14. The track shape has been significantly altered since from its original conception and riders can now enter & exit bends much earlier given the shorter straights and additional width in the corners. What is very apparent is that the banking out of bends one and two provides for a significantly better exit in terms of choice of line than that on bends 3 & 4 and so maybe the next step in track improvement should be to provide appropriate banking on the final to bends. Its difficult to have any hope that the overall width across the track will happen given not only the cost of dropping the temporary stands but also the amount of time & cost required to alter the existing electrical and drainage in situ as well as the standing areas on bends one and four. None of the aforementioned is impossible but most probably would/could only happen as part of a significant long term development plan to both spectator and racing facilities, funded by? and for what gain to recover the investment? Most probably, what we can best hope for is that track preparation as per Thursdays meetings are few and far between because when done correctly there has been some excellent racing/passing on par with the majority of tracks here in the UK.
  15. You appear to be drawing a view of Max's performance as an individual against "pairs" from Sheffield & Ipswich. But on an individual score perspective Max compares well at home v the four you have listed. (not rode at their tracks yet) so your comment is not well supported by the numbers. i.e none of the other riders actually outscored him V Sheffield - 4 programmed rides Max 9 paid 10 winning 1 and losing 1 v Jack H. Beating Tai W twice & losing to Chris H once. as for heats 13 & 15. Heat 13 scored a 5-1 but lost heat 15, 1-5 Tai 5 Jack H 9 paid 10 Chris H 7 paid 8 V Ipswich - 4 programmed rides Max 9 paid 11 Also won additional TS 3pts. beat Emil twice (3 times inc heat 15) lost to Jason once but beat him in heat 15. Emil 7 Jason 11 Both Max & Jason had six rides during the meeting. Max 15pts + 2BP Jason 15pts + 1BP So, as can be seen from the above sample of "head to heads" Max is more than holding his own, the issue lions have is the back up performance from the remainder of the team. Also consider in the two matches this year v Sheffield & Ipswich the aggregate totals from the "big hitter" heats of 13 & 15 is Lions 13 Opposition 11 so Lions more than held their own in that regard
  16. There is a car park at the stadium but gets full pretty quickly if your not there by 6.45 ishAlternative is to still follow the signs to the stadium but park in the shopping complex car park. no charge and four hours limit. We use it all of the time without any problems. Then follow folk to the stadium which is about a 10 minute walk.Enjoy.

  18. Sports governing bodies refrain from providing details relating to findings from an investigation into match officials preferring to limit information to that which would be clearly visible to the public, such as a change of the scheduled match official. This is very much along the lines of disciplinary procedures in the workplace. To be fair to the SCB, they did promptly communicate publicly that the referees actions were to be investigated and subsequently provided the follow up to say that the matter had been dealt with. As part of the hearing, the incident(s) would have been reviewed together with the referee. After due deliberation, the panel would have informed the referee of his mistakes and what the correct course of action/decisions he should have taken. He would also have been given follow up work in terms of revision of rules and procedures etc. The one match ban would be the next match he was listed to officiate which would also provide the time for him to complete his corrective actions. There will also be follow up sessions planned to evaluate the referees performance in future meetings.
  19. Good to hear. after all without a referee, there would be no racing.
  20. They are paid a match fee and traveling expenses that are reimbursed on a pence per mile basis. However, Both categories would accurately come under the term "modest".
  21. Poor weather forecast, Fans unlikely to see 15 heats, A track not conducive to racing on (via riders from each team). But I would agree to run it to get a fixture out of the way given I was already too late to avoid paying riders travel, stadium & other operating costs.
  22. A perfect track is not required to produce the type of excellent, entertaining racing regularly seen at BV. But realistically, last night, all things considered the shop should have stayed closed on this occasion.
  23. During the early races Rory was doing his best to remain positive about the racing “improving as track conditions improved”. Then the rain came. Consequently, Rory was quite right with his comments. The track, with racing on it being questionable from the off soon became barely rideable at all thus illustrating how questionable it was to start the meeting in the first place. The best thing to come out of to the meeting was the riders remained fit. The worst thing? A bore fest & riders preferring to preserve their skins for the remainder of the season. A bad advert for speedway. So most probably a good thing not many folk there to watch it!
