You make some very good observations and suggestions. However, When it comes to “highlight” packages and similar content - and most sports covered by tv have them, there is still the need to have recorded the original content before editing the final programme. So for me, the question first & foremost is which production company is going to fund that exercise so that a main stream tv company will broadcast it - and at a worthwhile time of day. The organisations behind darts, Snooker & suchlike actually produce their own content (live & catch ups) providing content to the channels - If UK speedway is to do the same they need a good reliable quality production company including commentary from professional folk who are not necessarily ex riders “doing their best” Maybe the “exciting news” for next season hinted at by the Oxford promotion regarding the leagues set up for next year will also include a change in media coverage with TNT moving out being the first step? We can all but hope & wonder what next?

Very true and an example why there is insufficient number of capable riders available to make one league from all of the current UK teams. Not forgetting how long each meeting would take due to the number of re-runs and dare I say it waiting for ambulances to return. more curfews than final results!?

Equals cost of two bikes & maintenance for a season. Although not a huge amount, good to see at least one promotion making it clear that riders need to earn their income on the track.

So he’s moving on from Kings Lynn? Do the Stars know this?

Indeed. But caused far more by the emergence of Poland as a speedway power than the arrival of GPs - which take place on Poland’s race days.

Should UK adopt Polish League Heat Formula and Rules
1 valve replied to Fromafar's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
No not really as it’s good to see all riders in UK getting their fair share of rides across the team. To get team managers more involved maybe introduce gate choices if a team is behind (say by 4 pts away team & 6 for the home side). This would still allow for coin toss and either choice of gate HT1 or HT15 and if and when the scores are level the appropriate gate position as per the initial choice remains in situ throughout the meeting. -
And if that was now, you’d never see him race at all on a weekend unless you went to Poland.

There should be no surprises if next year Oxford are in the top flight.

What about Northampton?

Oxford for the “top tier” (whatever that is) with Sam Masters an early signing/retention but not as the no.1 -
Promoters agreeing to share riders for many years ultimately dilute the loyalty towards those same riders from a single team fan base. The problem of “us and them” (if it actually exists) is not down to the riders, it’s the culture of how the sport is organised.

A pool of 100 riders to form a league “regardless of the standard of racing”? Well that there is the quickest and surest way to finish UK speedway off once and for all.

GP line-up and venues for 2026
1 valve replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
For stox the speedway fence is removed - on that basis for a GP would it be possible to lay a temporary track incorporating some of both circuits to provide a larger speedway track closer to the fans? Whats the issue with the air fence? Isn’t it the case that all UK tracks have to comply with FIM regs? -

Good lateral thinking that. Unfortunately not possible to do because it would as you say restrict the width of the track. -

It’s not the actual Bradford track that is the problem it’s that there is insufficient space to install the required neutral safety zone around the total circuit. Cost to do amend is a significant barrier. Also worth noting new promoters have clearly indicated risks involving costs are to be avoided hence forget Cardiff - that venue is now confined to speedway history. -

Not possible for Bradford to be granted a FIM license as circuit doesn’t meet safety standards (could be altered but at huge cost). Not sure what Infrastructure Ipswich is lacking considering they have hosted stock Car world championship with 10000 fans - also consider the size of footprint required for stox pits. Quite a few circuits in the GP are less than easy to get to - Given a domestic final last week attracted 6000 fans there should be a lot of confidence another 4000 would make the trip. Glasgow could be a good shout and nice to truly have a Scottish GP. What is the capacity of the stadium? -

Big mistake if there are and even more so if it’s two over the same weekend which is just not required. If there is to be 2 UK GPs they could do a lot worse, all things considered than giving Ipswich a go which would attract a larger attendance than Manchester at a significant lower cost and thereby to provide reasonable admission prices & a good profit for the promotion. -

Holding a GP at Ipswich would be a worthwhile consideration. They have had a Stox world final there and accommodated 10k crowd something not possible for Speedway elsewhere in the UK without a considerable gamble on initial cost. Not saying instead of Manchester but “as well”. -
Booze and tobacco companies sponsored many sports back in the day. The modern equivalent is now betting companies who appeal to a very wide demographic of customer and actually advertise their sporting markets with some very good visual & creative commercials that creates a wide awareness of the sport across multiple media channels The “Bet 365 SuperLeague of Speedway” maybe? or slogans like Paddy Power is Speedway Power

Grand Final 2nd leg Ipswich vs Leicester
1 valve replied to Aries's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Something that’s been said every year for the past decade or so. Don't hold your breath for a gust of fresh air to provide real optimism for us fans. More likely a bag full of hot air and half baked ideas and SPIN aimed at sprinkling glitter on the t*^d which is the BSPA to make it sparkle although not desirable to pick up. -

More likely a bit more shifting of the deckchairs on the SS UK Speedway Titanic & no more. Meanwhile congratulations to the Witches on their worthy Playoff success and to the Lions for their continued fight to the end. -
What about Northampton?
1 valve replied to RoundTheBoards's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
New owners maybe. But rules say two years before they can directly promote. So the question is who would the promoters be. -
The leading riders were on lap three when the race was stopped with a considerable gap between the two Leicester riders and the remaining Ipswich rider. In awarding the race the referee concluded that the third placed rider had little or no chance of catching & passing the either of the Lions riders ahead of him. In making such decisions the referee does not take consider hypothetical scenarios such as the remaining riders could fall or suffer engine failure. It was the correct decision and a shame the commentators fail to understand that it’s not when a rider falls but the position of the leading rider that determines the state of the race.

GP line-up and venues for 2026

This is a good competitive line-up, most probably the strongest ever. Sure, Tai's inclusion is a surprise beyond surprise, but (if fit) he will be competitive and will most probably finish higher than 16th (current ranking) at the end of the campaign.
