  1. So be it. Of course it will not happen because too much self interest is involved coupled with a distinct lack of vision on what’s required to get British Speedway on the up.
  2. Maybe teams with this type of limitation should be considered doubtful for eligibility to compete in the “top-flight”.
  3. Great rider who will continue to improve in 2022 but why would Edinburgh release their asset to ride for a League rival?
  4. The higher number of teams in the Championship enables the promoter to provide greater variety to the fans and frankly there is almost zero difference in the quality of racing. Thus better income at the gate coupled with lower costs makes sense to stay put.
  5. Is there is any “TV Money” actually paid directly to the clubs these days? The big money disappeared when Sky moved on after which, the benefit has been diluted down mainly to “TV exposure”. Better than nothing but not something big enough to attract new clubs to the Premiership?
  6. Swindon (last seen in the Prem) thread is from 2020. Poole thread (also in Championship section for 2022) should not be in the Premiership section - like Oxford shouldn’t be in it until known for sure. A case of two wrongs not making a right.
  7. Certainly not Pickering. And for the moment not worth getting excited over unsubstantiated predictions or rumours.
  8. Anybody know if Pickering is an asset of any UK team?
  9. Surely this topic should be in the news & discussion section so all the speculation can be aired until the decision of where Oxford will ride is made/known. Meanwhile has it been made public who the promoter will be?
  10. Really? A couple of big hurdles to overcome A move away from regular Saturday race nights & a change of ownership required (if Sheffield stay in top flight) Frankly, why do the Lions need to move up anyway?
  11. Most probably intends to start by avoiding signing riders with guaranteed earnings
  12. Well that’s it for another season. Although no trophies won this year, a good home record with some entertaining races and well contested meetings plus a few wins on the road have made it worthwhile if not memorable. As a wrap up to the season what do Lions fans see as the highs, lows & lessons to be learned going forward? (Also hopes and aspirations for 2022)
  13. Anybody know how “fit” Dan was/is feeling after his off on Tuesday? Not difficult to imagine him feeling a tad stiff, to say the least.
  14. Yep your right....Twitter & speedway GB more up to date than the actual Lions website.
  15. Sorry for misinformation - Twitter account more up to date than the Lions website Hans our for 9 days.
  16. As is the case for any sport which takes the TV Devils money. Have a look at how many Premier League fixtures have not only the KO time changed but also the DAY. Actually 5.30 Saturday afternoon isn't that bad as gives time to eat & drink after the meeting. Just wish they would hurry up and start selling the tickets.
  17. Looks like Hans is riding tonight as he is named in the team line up detailed in the Lions preview for tonight's meeting.
  18. Scunny didn't have Ellis to send as he was always going to be in France (where he lives) at a meeting already booked before he signed for Scunny. Leicester cant send the twins to Kent because they are required by their first team. Eastbourne riders were not being paid and decided what would and would not happen at Leicester. Speedway UK - Too many teams, not enough riders, and now not enough days in the week!
  19. Lions have no choice but to race tonight (Tuesday) because they need to establish who will be racing at Poole tomorrow (Wednesday). Crowd possibly will be lower than normal although it will not affect gate receipts because they were created on Saturday. If people choose not to go tonight because of what happened on Saturday then, as they have already paid their money it looks a little bit like they are cutting their nose off to spite their face. That said they will be able to go on Saturday for the second leg FOC when crowds and revenues will more than probably be lower than if the meeting was run on Friday.
  20. Edinburgh v Glasgow. is the only other fixture taking place on Friday - so are you suggesting lack of rider availability for guesting purposes? Although better still: It would be ironic if the reason the fixture at Leicester couldn't take place is because riders from Poole and/or Leicester were guesting for Edinburgh or Glasgow.
  21. Could somebody from (or genuinely close to) the promotion take the time to provide an explanation behind the apparent barmy idea of holding the second leg on Saturday instead of Friday. The Lions website does say “the second leg has been provisionally set for Saturday” so there is time to reconsider the chosen day and change the meeting to Friday and use tonight’s meeting to inform people accordingly. Alternatively, they could stick to their guns and lose out on attendance due to SON & LCFC v Man U & of course folk travelling from Poole to Manchester. But, the promoters may have a very good reason for holding the meeting on Saturday hence the question What is it?
