  1. Selling tickets for an event that’s knowingly not going to happen is at the least “immoral” & most probably “illegal” but being speedway I’ll settle for “incompetence”. Not a lot I can do other than decide not to buy the 6 season tickets we intended to do for next year. They just don’t deserve that kind of support.
  2. What time was the meeting called off? we brought tickets online @ 4.30pm. There has been absolutely no rain in Leicester today so it’s very hard to imagine that the track has been anything but unfit the whole day. A total disregard for the paying public.
  3. The burgers served inside stadium are ok - chips ok too. That’s about yer lot
  4. If that does become case then usually the admission fee is higher than normal prices so will be “interesting “ to see how that affects folk who have brought tickets for todays meeting online.
  5. And so long as the weather doesn't interfere, you'll see some good racing from many of the riders involved - Great to see Doyley back at BP!
  6. Not happening. - According to the rider that is. But what does he know?
  7. How surprising. Sheffield fans think the referee made wrong decisions Belle Vue fans think the referee made correct decisions Love Opinions - no matter how biased ... As neutral, looking at the decisions by the same ref over two legs it looks like Sheffield had the rough end of the stick, and maybe at a sufficient level to have made a difference to the eventual outcome. - but maybe is a big word & we will never know what "might" have been - re-run of races are hardly predictable. So, Congratulations to Lemmo & the Aces on their win ...about time & to the Tigers, thanks for making it a great final, you definitely played your part!
  8. Isn't it the case that GI as a business buy and run stadiums until they have the opportunity of selling the land the stadium is situated on for housing or similar building development. During the intervening years they charge rent to users i.e. speedway/ Greyhound racing / football clubs and in some cases even play a part in promoting a particular sport. This latter involvement provides some sort of credence to them being interested in finding a new stadium where the displaced sport(s) can move to. But of course, this never happens because when condensed down, GI business plan is to buy sites that in time will be ripe for development - Period. Put simply, once GI get hold of a stadium, the closure clock has started to tick.
  9. Strange behaviour to adopt if you want your views to be considered as fair (and reasonable & realistic) by the person on the receiving end of a rant?
  10. It would help if promoters got away from the concept that “finals” have to be held towards the end of season and plan for KO cup & similar to culminate earlier in the season. The league fixtures could then be wrapped around the “cups” leaving the latter part of the season to be available for play-offs & finals & who knows maybe an individual meeting.
  11. When they come to the tapes at Poole on the 21st it will have been four weeks since the Lions last rode as a team whilst during the same period Pirates will have had 5 fixtures. Whilst appreciating that the Lions Riders will have ridden in a few Premiership & NDL fixtures for other teams (which as we all know none speedway folk find difficult to comprehend) not being together as a team for such a long period of time will be a handicap come the first leg & something that favors Poole in being able to gain a decent first leg advantage. Let's hope this aspect doesn't greatly impact on the "occasion" - but it will most probably do so.
  12. Agreed. But at least Poole & Scunny have been here in 3 separate competitions - allowing for the play off to be regarded as thus. No doubt you are correct re 2 home & 2 away - and will not be a surprise if at some point on at least one occasion a team will visit BP on back to back weeks - Not what the fans will want to see.
  13. When the Lions dropped down to the championship it was quite a relief for many of their fans who were very much fed up with their team being the whipping boys of the prem and frankly bored with seeing the same team visiting twice a season plus again in KO matches. Similarly, many were skeptical at the move down because having been there previously the racing had not been particularly good to say the least. However, in the ensuing years, the track has been changed sufficiently to provide racing beyond recognition to what came before that, and the racing in the Championship has been excellent on many occasions. It has also been refreshing to see different teams in league meetings - in other words a variety of entertainment. Now that the decision has been made to move back to the top flight, it remains to be seen if other clubs will do likewise so that the repetitious nature of same teams visiting can be avoided. If so and presuming that Dickson does what he always does - put together a very competitive team, then all will be good for Premiership racing to make a welcome return. Regarding Thursday night being race nights, this will not be a factor that affects attendance numbers, if the team is successful then the fans will come - school day or not - example, just see how many kids were at the City v Forest game last night. boys and
  14. One heat leader in that group- far too weak and (sorry to say) long in the tooth to be a team contending for anything which is not what Dickson will be planning for.
  15. Apart from Thompson (Dan?) and Vaculik all the riders named are already connected with other Prem clubs. In which case why limit the possible team line up to those riders... Lions could have the choice of just about any rider bar a few already "contracted". For what it's worth, as Connor Mountain is a Lions asset it's a fair bet he will have one of the reserve berths with the other one filled by Dan Thompson (if he is to make the grade he needs to step up next year) thus leaving a fair few points for some decent main body riders to be enticed to join the Lions
  16. Maybe, but currently they ride for other teams in the Premiership....New team required to be put together for next season, but safe to presume that "names" have already been spoken to about signing up for the 2023 Lions
  17. Look, let’s get to the important stuff, you know, the elephant in the room that nobody wants to admit is there, never mind talk about it. Namely: Why were the “free” union flags on back straight seats so cr*p? Previous years they have been made of material & big enough to wave to provide colour etc . This year they were plastic and of a size not out of place on a beach sandcastle! Definitely not worth waving - Though Dan’s success deserved it!
  18. Today, Wembley has huge areas for fan zones & concession stands. It also has a tube station with trains taking less than 10 mins to central London with 3 stop offs in-between. So lots to do and places to stay - if required. In the “old days” sell out Wembley finals didn’t have anything but beer & hot dogs for those who came and went (via car, bus train) without stopovers before or after the meeting as it was seen as a day out”.
  19. It was noticeable on Saturday just how many times Max looked behind him during his races. On one occasion coming out of bend two he looked to his right where there was no rider so he looked to his left just in time to see the rider come by. The only time he didn't look back was when the other three riders were already in front. This sort of on track habit is a strong indication of a lack of confidence in his own speed or ability to stay ahead of the riders behind him. Hopefully a spell at reserve, a few practice sessions as well as some positive encouragement from team mates and management will help improve his confidence and form back to the levels he is capable of.
  20. Surely it’s exactly because the rider chose to leave the club (rather than the club released the rider) that the club is allowed a guest Given they they are the “injured” party by an act beyond their control?
  21. or get t to the stadium early and park in the stadium car park for free?
