  1. I think that the ferry shop is tax free, because it stops at Åland. If you come over by night, I think the stop is just long enough to load/unload the locals with their cars. And Åland is not especially cheap, same to rest of Finland. I dont actually know what the beer price is at that ferry, it's possible to google it from their site. But I can name you shop that sells beer for 21 euros a case everyday, and thats the cheapest I know at Tampere. I have my beer from Tallinn for around 11 euros a case. There's a Lidl store not far from Ratina next to Sokos at Hallituskatu. lidl is a good choice for beer... EDIT: citymarket stores in Finland have made it their business to have an extensive selection of beer. The one near me has over 250 different foreign beers. But then its 6 euros for a pint of bottled London Pride.
  2. No no no... Stock up at the ferry. Anything below 15 € for a case of 24 cans is considered a deal.
  3. I think I've picked this same argument earlier as well. FIM license is about 500 euros for the full season and that includes insurance. Cant remember the exact amount, but thats a ballpark figure. Benefits for entering such competitions... Like U21 euros and worlds... I know many promoters in the UK dont like them, but I do.
  4. Just checked from a FIM referee and in FIM meeting he would have been excluded.
  5. Entry fees are actually forbidden in FIM snd FIM Europe speedway competitions. Its a rule in the rulebook. So Morris was talking anout something else.
  6. Can you please list, what does SVEMO actually pay for the riders that they call for national duty? What does PZM pay? With sportowefakty.pl making most things public anyway you can probably dig this up for us. I can see some point in all this from a federation point of view. IF the federation HAS NO MONEY, and still want to stay active and ride the "Emil" wave, they need to stay global, So they just announce that the clubs will pay for everything. Most riders pay for the international license themselves anyway, and with that comes an international insurance. That can be upgraded if felt necessary. Only problem here is the starting permit for foreign leagues, and if you've been given a Polish license thats not a problem anyway, since PZM will hand it out for you.
  7. Better late than never... 1 to 21... 59,2 - 59,6 - 59,2 - 58,6 - 57,5 - 58,5 - 61,7 - 59,2 - 60,0 - 58,9 - 59,3 - 58,2 - 58,4 - 60,6 - 60,6 - 59,3 - 59,9 - 58,6 - 58,9 - 59,3 - 58,8 And now I have MY LIST COMPLETE! It didn't even take five years!!!!!
  8. It's six years. So ACU/BSPA has their own method to check them, since they give a year more lifetime to a fence than the FIM does. http://www.scbgb.co.uk/pdf/regulations/2014%20SPEEDWAY%20REGULATIONS.pdf
  9. = ) Actually it's two of the three main east-west roads and the only railroad. But I wasnt going to dip in the lake, I was recommending the sauna. It's a public sauna, like Kauppi, but a history of around 100 years. Google it. I've been there enough times... It's no spa, it's a public sauna like no other. Never been to Kauppi sauna, but often read that the people attending are close to burning the whole building down while competing on "who da man" taking it... EDIT: and theres no beach there. Also they are building a tunnel nearby, so the water cant be that nice looking.
  10. Thats it in SGP. It's all public info from the rulebook, it includes travel and accommondation unless of course bsi has stepped in and made a good deal with the promoter. Like eith Buckley. 1000 dollars for the reserves to do practise, most of them are happy... Have to be!
  11. It has! Only about 5-10 percent a few years ago, but definately within the past 12 years.
  12. If you want to experience sauna at Tampere, you go to Rajaportin Sauna.
  13. Just had to drag this up again... I tried quickly to find the acu rule book about APD's. Did not find one. The question is, how long are the airfences in UK speedway valid from new until they have to be re-inspected? Or are they all FIM homologated?
  14. Good thing we are on the same page... Now tell these idiots what the meeting is all about: http://www.svt.se/nyheter/regionalt/tvarsnytt/lindback-uttagen-till-lag-vm, http://hd.se/sport/2014/03/05/sveriges-vm-trio-i-speedway-ar/?from=rss EDIT: Only just read the other one... It says: "Storbritannien valde att tacka nej då man blev irriterade över att finalen i Eskilstuna körs en fredagskväll när England har ligaomgång." It says Team GB withdrew cos the Eskilstuna round is ridden on a friday when there's league racing in the UK. Yes, thats exactly how it went.
  15. Does every F1 grand prix host pay the same for Bernie to have GP at their track. B'cos thats exactly the same as BSI and SGP hosts.
  16. What "gold"? It's not like its the European or World Championships...
  17. Yes, no where near the outside barrier. Thats how it looked to where I was standing, between bends 1&2. Järf and Tani were class apart. I quite like Järf's attitude towards what he does on the track. On the other hand it's sad(?)/pity that he is unable to make it happen outside of it. Meaning he cant gather the support needed to make it happen on world stage. Because thats what he wants. To be in the ISGWC.. I actually think he would do circles around Aakko and Simon on a track that each have had the same amount of track time... His confidence is spot on and his dives to the bends were quite spectacular... EDIT: Some editing, more during the day to correct mistakes. So... 2009 he took 9 points and was 6th. A heat win in his last would have given him bronze, but he finished last behind Aakko, Flyktman and Lehtinen. Those were also the medalists and that years Finnish national team. Injured in 2010, champ 2011, out with illnes 2012, champion 2013 and 2014. Last 18 ridden heats in finals won.
  18. Finnish final at Joensuu today: 1) järf, 2) kastren, 3) norola, 4) tani d. Tani was trying to keep up behind järf and ended taking contact to the outside barrier and then came across the track over the inner line and was disqualified/retired. No rerun. Over 900 paid in, excellent stuff.
  19. Finnish final this saturday at Joensuu will go ahead. The Nordic final at Hyvinkää was cancelled last week.
  20. It was allowed because the said ban is only about the riders 1-15 in the SGP, like Jesper says on post 6 in this thread. And Emil, Nicki and Martin can (at this moment) still be wildcards in their homeland SEC's. If you dont believe this, show me the official FIM or FIM Europe press release that states otherwise.
  21. Curling was massive when the Finnish team took Silver in 2006. The captain of the team made it in to the parlament, built a curling rink in Helsinki, and everyone was talking about curling. Even I attended a test session as a part of my batchelor party. It was good fun. 8 years on, curling is the same as it was 2005. In my eyes anyway, it gets the same publicity as before, the hype has died.
  22. I was once told about the FIM and how it's based in Geneva, Switzerland. While the people running the copyroom might actually get a triple salary compared to similar jobs in Berlin or Rome, the fact is that Switzerland is an excellent location for the headquarters because of the Swiss legislation... They are not in the EU, so maybe they do have a slightly different set of rules?
