  1. They are manufacturers, not materials. My main point was that some riders will wear only one type of suit. Even if a team has made a deal with a manufacturer for all 7-10 riders, that doesn't mean every rider will wear that suit. I've been dealing (as a middleman) with KW (top Polish company) since 2006 and all the time we have been ordering suits that have the plastic-based materials (nylon and astro nylon). It's been no secret, no one has tried to cover up any details about the fabrics used and they have been OK to use in FIM meetings. Havent done as much co-operation with CW, but we've been dealing only with the printed nylon suits that are now forbidden to use in FIM meetings. Both manufacturers have added stronger materials in important places, like shins for example to avoid burn damage from the silencer. But like said, no secrets, not By the FIM rulebook but perfectly accepted world wide in any competitions, including the World Championships and SGP. Both companies will now sell you a FIM2014 approved suit. KW charges around 900 euros + extra for every logo. I dont know CW's price, since I've never seen any invoices. I've said it before that leather is not the answer. I confronted Ilkka Teromaa (then CCP member) a year ago about this and he was very PRO regarding this latest rule amendment to ban nylon. But he also described in close enough detail how he himself use to get ässburns when he was sliding the track with his leather suit in the 70's... I still think that you need something in between to take away the heat and friction. Changing just the top material is not the answer.
  2. Actually the riders do have a choice... Like Timo Lahti for Eastbourne. Eastie wanted kw suits, lahti cw and he got it. Looks different to the rest of the team, not so pro IMO.
  3. That rule has been the standard for a few years and actually does not help, since the mentioned nylon suits have been aporoved worldwide. For this year the FIM put their foot down and go by the book regrding nylon-> not ok. Out of interest, was that a direct copypaste from the fim book? Havent been able to do it on my own pc since the end of 2012.
  4. Thats exactly whats going on now. I do believe that the opening post on this thread is just a misunderstanding, since as talked last year already, the aim of the rule change was/is not to go back to leather. The purpose is to get rid of nylon.
  5. You should wait for the extra info next week, not jump to your own conclusions!
  6. If I was MJJ, I'd be at Pitkos with my kit on thursday morning. I think that once Ward has signed on for the meeting, the track reserves come to play... Before that I believe they are obliged to ask MJJ.
  7. I dont know, yet. But as there's a thread asking how much influence any FMNR has in these, I know that we used to have the final say which rider takes which number. I know earlier qualis where the rider expected to do better has been given a "better" draw and two reds for instance, not two whites... EDIT: Both have two yellows, more info next week.
  8. No I'm not. I'm not in any way connected to the company promoting the event. Wish them all the best naturally. We can catch up during the day, of course. My plans for the actual meeting are still under development...
  9. And your source for the racing suit rule is?!! The silencers are "old news", its been public for probably a year now. All fim competitions (exept ice racing) are to be ridden with 2014' spec suits. They are not leather though and dont have to be. Cant see them changing it again for 2015... Then again, they do what they want.
  10. LOL... We'll guess he has to. It's been really busy for him so far. Thats why he went to Chowa for practise and back to DK, cos he needed the rest...
  11. Noticed today that the Prilba weekend has an U21 Worlds final...
  12. With Ward possibly out with his thumb from this one, Jepsen Jensen is the next in line. He's currently also out with an injury. If it comes to that (neither can ride), the SGP comission can nominate ANY RIDER IN THE WORLD to ride instead of Ward. This is a fact from this years rules. Opens interesting possibilities... If not for this one, think about what can happen with the Finnish round!
  13. If you have a car and 2-3 hours to spare, then it's OK. If nothing else, there's a gokart track next to it. I think it has an international sized track with decent hirekarts. I wouldn't do it. If you only have saturday? I would visit the spy museum and Lenin museum. Those are the two I've never been to! An Andy Warhol exhibition is open at Sara Hilden museum at Särkänniemi. I hated it, bloody boring. Someone might fancy it though... All shopping at the city center is on Hämeenkatu (Sokos, Stockmann) and at Koskikeskus. And it was only about 20 years ago...
  14. I was happy to put it all behind at the minute I heard it was postponed until 2015... I have a direct quote from FIM Europe vice president that they will not go back on their deal with One Sport. He is also in that happy place where he has done nothing to create this all but is in the deep end to sort it all out. So IN MY VIEW FIM has a binding contract with BSI, they were first. FIM Europe has a binding contract with One Sport. No one will give an inch... It will all be solved in a court room unless someone will give that inch and back away. That will be the end of something, but thats next year... I couldnt care less what happens during next winter... There are too many problems to be solved in between...
  15. Putting on pressure and being clamped... Cant see Armando being under pressure, because he's stuck with what others have done. He would be under huge pressure, if he had signed both deals, BSI and One Sport, or even one of them.
  16. Exactly, there's nothing new here. I translate this for you, Ghostie can then put his own twist on it if he wants to,,, "Vi är klämda från två håll, säger Armando. -Dels har vi ett avtal med BSI och dom tycker inte att vi lever upp till det om vi accepterar ytterligare ett mästerskap som rör mer än ett land och samtidigt inte är ett kval till VM." "We are clamped from two sides, armando says. On the other hand we have a deal with BSI and they think we are not honouring it by accepting another championship that includes more than one nation and is not a quali for the SGP". Putting on pressure, demanding a ban from certain riders... Cant see it from that. Me thinks its a textbook answer by a politician who does not want to say anything but is forced to give a comment.
  17. "Dom tycker inte".... Well, most definately it doesn NOT mean "putting pressure".
  18. Yes, the same. As I know it, he IS the magazine. Not yet, give 10 days. Or make ghostie do it all in 14 hours... LOL
  19. Wasnt it Mauger who was the first to arrive with two bikes? Honestly, just something I remember reading from BSF earlier...
  20. From the issues I've read, it looks better than it is. But it's a speedway magazine, in Sweden and available in stores and kiosks around southern Sweden (havent been elsewhere so cant comment). So it's a good mag! I have friends visiting hallstavik a week from now. This went on top of my souvenir wishlist.
