  1. Both Finns to go through if they ride on their current level. Kylmäkorpi should do it easily, Laukkanen might struggle. Hope for the best!
  2. I checked it first... I guess I'll have to wait for the star to appear....
  3. Heat times??? Anyone?? Need them quick...
  4. The Individual Finnish Championship will be contested next saturday 1st of July at Seinäjoki. Eight riders have been seeded straight in to the final on saturday: Juha Hautamäki KMMK Kaj Laukkanen SeMK Tero Aarnio KMMK Juha Mäkelä KMMK Joni Keskinen SeMK Rene Lehtinen SeMK Kauko Nieminen SeMK Joonas Kylmäkorpi VRT (participation depends on the state of his collarbone injury) 24 riders in total wanted to ride, so there's a qualifier on friday the 30th of June at the same track. Riders in it are: 1. Jari Mäkinen PirMM (not riding) 2. Jani Eerikäinen KarMK 3. Pekka Valo SeMK 4. Jan-Erik Korkeamäki KauhjMK 5. Teemu Lehti KMMK (not riding, fell last tuesday, length of injury confirmed next wednesday) 6. Juho Ruuska HjMK 7. Janne Nyman FMS 8. Aarni Heikkilä FMS 9. Aki-Pekka Mustonen VRT 10. Kalle Kivistö SsMK 11. Petri Koskela PMK 12. Marko Suojanen PMK 13. Petteri Koivunen SeMK 14. Mikko Koskinen SeMK 15. Toni Stenberg KMMK 16. Markku Autio KauhjMK Jyri Palomäki is absent because of foot injury, and Tomi Reima apparently hasn't enrolled because of official selection. Mikko Mäki-Hakola has been appointed as the referee of the meeting. He's the least popular ref in the sport, and numerous attempts have been made along the years by the riders to have his license revoked. A few riders even took this case to highest of the highest level after last season. And the result, MMH is the top dog at the pinnacle meeting of our finnish season 2006. What to expect? Numerous burned out clutch plates and more tape's exclusion's then there's been so far this season. The tapes are gonna be held looong...
  5. I don't know really, but in my books we've already seen David Ruud. He'll never be a world beater, but has a chance to build a good career around Europe. Same goes for Ljung, alltough I'm not sure about how good his career will ever be... But what do I know...
  6. I really wanted to win this one... I've been looking for good points all the way, not just the 100% a'la Crump and Herbie. Hans was my choice until his score was so watered down... I'm really disappointed for the result I got... I thinking of switching to GM...
  7. I have to admit that I'm a bit surprised about Ruud given a chance. To be honest he's no where near...
  8. 5th round of the Finnish league was battled on yesterday. The Daugavpils team managed to arrive after two no-shows this time, but that's not all. They came with three riders and a manager, without any documents of current insurances aka licenses. They were unable to produce the required documents, and it seems likely they weren't willing to pay the 95 € per individual onoff license since they did not ride. So Toni Stenberg rode alone for the Latvian team. The meeting was closely fought between LeijonaHaukat and Keittiöpiste. They were tied going in to the 4 round, and the meeting was won by LeijonaHaukat in heat 18 when Tomi Reima beat Juha Hautamäki. Official results later when I get my hands on them. A norwegian rider was supposed to lineup for the LeijonaHaukat, but had to withdraw when it was made clear to him that one can't ride in another country's 1st league if you ride in the norwegian lower league. Apparently a LONG ban would have waited for him. 10. A good crown of around 300 saw the 4th round of the finnish league yesterday at Kuusankoski. Track wasn't all that great, and the racing suffered towards the end. The Swedes for the Helsinki team really stood out. They had the pro kits on display that left some gasping for breath. Not only did they look like the part, they also did their part by both riding 14 from 5. Unlike @ Tampere last night none of the racers died. At the Tampere horse track two horses collapsed and died because of heat exhaustion. 12. Another thing that crossed my mind is that they sure have a busy international calendar at Daugavpils! They could try and send a team to the finnish league fixtures too, surely...
  13. They are already advertising him as the wc in Latvia. Tha track at Daugavpils is a home track if there ever was one. At least that's what I've been told by riders that ridden it.
  14. No it wasn't me, but I had this weird feeling that damn do I really sound that stupid. He was asking the obvious if there is such a thing as obvious. I know it's hard when you're in that situation, but he's on tv... Sophie rock's!!

He started in heat 2 and progressed all the way to heat 23. He blew one engine, was involved in one all4back first corner as the one knocked off (I got excellent pics of the incident, Dave Fairbrother better clear his emailbox) and ended his day by getting thrown from his bike as it rocketed from under him exciting turn 2 while challenging Teemu Lahti for a 2nd in semi 1. He wrecked the front end of Joni Keskinen's spare bike in the incident, and boy was he high up in the air! . He's now checking in for x-rays and I'm off to sauna and a few cold ones... Pictures of Mäkinen going down get's tight here touched here we're going here gone here EDIT: they weren't real mikepatrick material after a real close inspection...
  16. I watched some of the Bajen-Rospiggarna match. Now there was an interviewer who was asking the obvious and stupid. Only problem is that he sounded like me...
  17. Go a few post's backwards, there's a link behind/under "Finnish tracks"
  18. Tomi Reima is apparently OK after a crash that made the Swedish press last week. As stated @ speedwayworld.tv Kylmäkorpi is out for a month with a broken collarbone. Jyri Palomäki is also out for at least 4 weeks after breaking his leg yestarday in Sweden. He broke his leg in 3 places and it's now supported with 2 plates and 10 screws. It's NOT LOOKING GOOD for the SWC. But it's good news for the brit's because we would have kicked your ASSH!
  19. It has absolutely no effect to beer prices.
  20. Since this has probably come out of Phillip Rising at the press conference and via tomaszporl to this forum, I'd say this is the accurate amount of sold tickets. Last year there were around 38750 people. That's around 2k more this year, so that make's it 60k £ more sales for BSI ?!
  21. Finns will have: Jani Eerikäinen Aarni Heikkilä Joni Keskinen Teemu Lahti Rene Lehtinen
  22. There are no decisions yet on the finnish team. But the riders will come out from the group that have already represented Finland this year: Lehtinen, Heikkilä, Keskinen, Tuomisto, Kitala+ Jari Mäkinen and Appe Mustonen. They have now turned 16 and are old enough to take part. Also Teemu Lahti has said he'll go if asked.
