  1. And currently he's riding for Newcastle... Impressed me too in Pardubice earlier this season. 80cc is not 500cc speedway... Many riders will fail to break trough and then there are riders that will only start when they are 17. And then there's of course Nicolai Klindt who started with the 50cc micro, won the U19 at 2007 and is U21 finalist this season...
  2. It's Loppi's last season in this one. I've only spoken to him once but he seemed very level headed and aware about the things going on... Heard some good comments about him too after there was a training camp in Finland a few weeks back. All in all this will total in to the fact that he will come good in 500cc too, if given the chance. Regarding this one I'd say he's probably learned a bit today and I wish him all the best for the semi.
  3. If we ever get a reward for the favours we do... That'll be a party I really want to be a part of! I actually changed my view on this, dont think that Katajisto will replace Rosen... FIM rules 070.4.6.6 and 070.4.6.3 ...and yes, UEM follows FIM rules in many situations.
  4. Anton Rosen has informed the organizers that he's not coming due to injury. A question follows... Who will take his place!! I'd say Katajisto as the 2nd reserve from the same qualifier that Rosen went through. This is why... : UEM works according to these... 11. RULES The following rules are in force for Track Racing: - UEM Statutes and By-Laws - UEM Annuaire 2009 - UEM Sporting Code 2009 - UEM Disciplinary and Arbitration Code - FIM Track Racing Technical Rules 2009 - FIM Medical Code 2009 - FIM Anti-Doping Code 2009 - FIM Environmental Code 2009 - FIM Track Racing Appendices 2009 - FIM Standards for Track Racing Circuits 2009 And the FIM book says this: 070.4.6.6 Track reserve riders The track reserve rider will be eligible to replace a programmed rider who is unable to compete in a following round and he will become a programmed rider. If time allows, the rider below him from the qualifying meeting concerned becomes the track reserve rider for that round. Opinions???
  5. Appe Mustonen with Katajisto's race jacket and old Kylmäkorpi covers. I think he was very lucky that Gafurov was denied a visa during spring and the Eastbourne team had to be redone (and Mustonen was dropped).
  6. They'll probably start working on the 4th or 5th day after first the hotel and then the city has run out of beer. If you dont have an insider there, then dont hold your breath while waiting official info.
  7. All4back after this one in Finland last weekend. It's about 5 or 6 pics alltogether. I wonder what the referee was doing while it happened?? It was a first bend fall in a semifinal with two going through to the final. It's not just the GP's that the ref's cant take the pressure...
  8. A real shame about Smederna. I'd say it's the best permanent setup (track/stadium) I've ever visited. Speedway in Eskilstuna will not die (I believe/hope), but Elitserien will be poorer without them.
  9. 55th Individual Finnish speedway final will be ridden in Pori on August 1st. First heat at 5 PM Finnish time. Seeded straight in to the final are: Juha Hautamäki, Kaj Laukkanen, Tomi Reima, Tero Aarnio, Kake Nieminen, Kalle Katajisto*, Niko Siltaniemi*, Jari Mäkinen*, Timo Lahti* and Appe Mustonen*. * these are in the Finnish U19 team riding in Germany on July 18th, so they were seeded to the final. Qualifier is held at Seinäjoki on sunday, July 19th. 6+2 places are on offer. 15 riders in the qualifier are (also the draw): 1. Petri Koskela (PMK) 2. Joni Kitala (SsMK) 3. Aarni Heikkilä (FMS) 4. Janne Nyman (SsMK) 5. Jani Eerikäinen (KMMK) 6. Teemu Lahti (KMMK) 7. Petteri Koivunen (SeMK) 8. Rene Lehtinen (SeMK) 9. Joni Keskinen (KauhjMK) 10. Markku Autio (KuMaMo) 11. Jouni Viljanen (PMK) 12. 11. Nicholls vs. Sajfutdinov fight on Youtube has now also been mentioned on the website of #1 Finnish daily newspaper, Iltasanomat! Alltough again for the totally wrong reasons, this is still much better than last time. A year ago speedway was mentioned in every media in Finland after Timo Villanen was paralysed in a track crash at Seinäjoki.
  12. GP is different! So is the the GP qualifier final. It's just one day at Coventry, 16 riders at a track that one messed about or at one moment tired (while watering the the track) track marshall might mess about to suit one or another... IN ALL HONESTY... That is, what is the day to day in our sport! no smiley here for approval.
  13. Kaukos' 1st time in the final! Enough for me, I rate this higher than whatever Laukkanen did. Kauko is your "from rags to riches" in speedway if anyone is! Hard work year after year to make ends meet. He might have stepped up to Elite a year too late, but thankfully it was a year after he was really able to do it and make the steo up! He also had help at the pits (not a given for a FI rider according to my info, hopefully helped him a lot!!!!) The rider shortage in the UK is REAL! We in in Finland are very lucky at the moment to have such level headed people running the show that there's no help given for our youngsters to take the LEAP to change the continent!
  14. A real shame that a track that looked so good early on, proved to be so crap. Timo Lahti took home the honours and the welding machine at Kemppi Speedway today with a touch of track craft and a bucket load of pure luck. 15. http://www.piraterna.se/default.aspx?NodeId=276 Thanks on the Swidders info. Kylmäkorpi is currently first reserve, thats why I asked.
  16. I read from somewhere that when no Brit will qualify, Daugavpils will only send 7+1 forward. Any word on Swiderski, is he riding or not? Hurt his leg on wednesday and didn't ride on thursday. No news on his website 10 minutes ago when I checked.

  18. So with the current way that the wind is blowing, Kylmäkorpi will make it to the meeting proper on saturday (rain is promised at Motala I'm told) only to be outruled from the qualifinal by some nobody like Simon Stead or David Howtodoit!!
  19. What's the current rule, will Woffy now replace Ulamek in the lineup at Motala or does PZM have the right to nominate a replacement? On another thread they are saying J. Wright gets a place in Daugavpils after two riders had withdrawn. That doesnt sound right...
  20. Wasn't this yours too? www.speedway-grasstrack.nl? Dont suppose you have the results from Norway, the Norwegian Champioship in longtrack and the old timers results from the same meeting??
  21. Now this is teamwork! Having a local trackman holdingthe Russian back laughing and giving Scott a real chance to land one in!
  22. 600 dollars for Emil and 500 dollars for Scotty according to last nights Sportspegeln on SVT1 (Swedish BBC). They had their reporters at trackside.
  23. I thought that way too, but there's nothing unexperienced about his main mechanic and manager who was a part of Tricks setup for the last few years Trick was riding. Holloway has also seen his bit in the pits and garage with Nicki and then Karger.
