  1. But there will be a Finland vs Sweden test match Kauhajoki. Where's the UEM calendar? GIVE IT TO MEE!
  2. The AGM went pretty well I think. Four teams look set for next years league again with Lahti dropping out and Hyvinkää stepping in. Kaupunki Cup looks to keep going the same. Extraliiga reverts back to SM-liiga. I always liked the name Extraliiga and thought it had potential but in the end no one was willing to do rubbish for/with it so it's now buried. R/R is introduced, joker turns to tac.sub without double points and a transfer window is introduced mid way. All the teams participated in the talks so the rules look good. Finnish finals next season are: Ice racing - Hyvinkää Speedway - Haapajärvi U21 speedway - Kauhajoki Speedway pairs - Pori Longtrack - Pori
  3. The Finnish AGM is this saturday. The plan is to ride the Extraliiga with the same format next year and I know one team is already made deals with it's riders for the coming season. KC and 80cc are not so clear, clubs have been told to come up with suggestions how to ride them. They are needed competitions no doubt.
  4. NO. DMU made an official statement later (before SWC) that the issues were between DMU and Madsen. Stekkers had nothing to do with that.
  5. Reading this weeks Spar I found to my amazement that Jan Staechmann has been sacked by the Danish federation DMU from his role as the team manager and coach of Danish speedway. I only know him by a handfull of quick conversations around the European tracks but have NEVER met a person such as him. He loves (-d) his work, was good at it and was appreciated by his riders (of course I dont know for sure) and looked up to by his rivals (this one is 100 % certain ). Reasons mentioned for the axe to fall on him are a bit iffy... Following whats been going on in Sweden I've been wondering whats the point whith all the changes, but having seen Svemo's calendar page 3 I've wondered have the people in charge not been really in contact whats actually happening? Mentioned in the interview is that the DMU wants to keep training days during the season weekly, twice at least. I DO WONDER how that can be arranged, since the Danes are riding meetings in the UK daily. Some even have 10+ Danish riders from the needed 14 at times... He was too good for the job. If I had the money, I'd hire hime for a rider of my choice. We already have a good coach/tm so no positions open by that calibre...
  6. I changed a couple of emails with Matti Pöysä (in the UEM TR commission) today and he said this would be out next week. Finland had a U19 qualifier but it has been given away by todays info. Anyway, expecting the full calendar early next week.
  7. No. Surprised though that the qualifier has been given to Ukraine. After the reports from the U19 semi this year, I gathered that all local organization (except the racing itself on track and a nice stadium) was below standard and unacceptable.
  8. FMS and PZM were denied a place in ice racing World cup. Only seven teams straight to the final.
  9. You meant the World Champs, my mistake... Antti Aakko has made a switch in his domestic club from a life time(?) Oulu rider to Idän Ritarit (Eastern knights, close enough) from Joensuu.
  10. Havent seeen a news in Swedish about this, but just taking as you've written they'll declare Hammarby as an Elitserien team for next season. If thats not the case, they would have told all to bugger of now, it'll be eight teams. No need for extra meetings...
  11. Another one bringing me back down to earth... Which team cup and when
  12. I beat you to it Conkers! The fifth Sanok Cup on saturday January 22nd at Sanok. The Finnish riders are practising at Ylitornio in December 3rd to 6th. Jarmo Hirvasoja present to give some tips.
  13. The Finnish season finished almost a month ago, when Marko Suojanen crashed at Hyvinkää and the final heat of the season was awarded to Timo Lahti. Hyvinkää’s meeting was the 20th of the season in 500cc and on top of that there were seven 80cc meetings. Also a Finnish team rode in the Swedish 80cc league (Tigrarna finished 3rd) and Jensen Cup. Finland won the Jensen Cup alltough only appeared in six of the eight matches. It was a good season. Racing wise it was cracking. The new EL-format was a great success, the Finnish individual title was fought to the finishing line of the final after some really exciting and thrilling racing. U21 final was a downer but luckily pairs final (after all the controversy surrounding) held it’s place in the calendar. There was no qualifier for the individual final this year and that was a loss. There just werent enough riders willing to ride as the were rock concerts and individual meetings abroad that were apparently more inportant. Same reasons apply for the lack of riders in the U21 final. Finland is a feeder in the world of speedway, you only need to look at the map to see it. Unfortunately the federation backed training group is only revolving around half a dozen enthusiastic prospects and they are not looking to rise in numbers. Palomäki and Teurnberg have done a really good job, no doubt about it. Katajisto is now a Scot (did not ride in Finland at all) and Timo Lahti looks set to ride as much as he wants next season around Europe. So all the hard work the TG puts in to these guys is one step closer for the Finnish speedway to lose them abroad. And there really isn’t enough new blood coming through. I’ve totally forgotten our microspeedway scene that was introduced in 2009. There are still a few tracks running in that, but I’ve not heard anything about the number of kids involved. Some riders were again better than others. Kalle Katajisto managed almost an 8 point average in PL and rode in the U21 semi in Slovenia. First Finn to do that in almost ten years. Timo Lahti was in the U19 final, almost made it through from the Nordic U21 round and rode a full season for Masarna in the Swedish Allsvenskan. He turned 18 in July. Both of the guys were in the SWC quali in Lonigo where Finland won and Lahti was also in the KL round of the SWC, understandably out of his debt. Both did manage to ride an injury “free” season, not braking bones and therefor missing loads of meetings. That was naturally very positive and showed in their performance curve naturally. Kauko Nieminen did well and upped his game again while Joonas Kylmäkorpi is coming back and will be an international level force again next year. Here in Finland Jari Mäkinen made a comeback on to the right trail and Joni Keskinen rode his best season yet. Niko Siltaniemi stepped up big time this year and won medals in all four possible competitions there was. Only Tero Aarnio (-04?,-05?) and Kaj Laukkanen (-95) have managed the same in the past 15 years. Juha Hautamäki was unstoppable in the Finnish Extraliiga and practically won the medal for Kotkat by himself. He took 45 % of their seasons points. Tomi Reima was winding it down this year and called it a day after Extraliiga was finished. I think he rode really well considering he did not practise at all during the season and only did 9 meetings in total. Joni Kitala was another hanging up his kevlars, there might be one or two other during the close season. Rider shortage is a concern in the coming couple of years, there are not enough Pasi Pulliainen type of comeback riders coming through. On a really positive note the track at Hyvinkää is back in action and there’s fresh blood and energy at the helm. Anything can happen when they hit full speed. I guess that kind of wraps up the season this time. This thread is at the time of posting on over 61 views per post. That’s almost 10% up on last year, again.
  14. Which do you need? I have rounds 7 and 8. PM me your email and they are yours.
  15. Some excellent (better than mine) pictures from the LT challenge at Forssa can be found here: http://www.kasakuvat.fi/ On the left there are a few galleries.
  16. Dont know what happened with Ludde but I have very specific recollections why Fredrik left... Though that was only through what the papers wrote... ... and that was the U21 final at Kumla back in -03. When Bomber was #2 in the U21 World.
  17. Nope. Last year it took quite a while for them to come out and they were firstly sent to the federations only. It took ages for them to become public. Germany is on the up in the list, they are hosting everything. I dont really like the fact that the U21 is still growing...

  19. This is what the google translation looked like on my monitor, ""She needed it in the ass. Já si to s ní ještě vyřídím!“ Lenka s rozvedenými I do not will deal with it! "Lenka of divorced rodiči nevycházela a žila u prarodičů. did not rely on parents and lived with the grandparents. Její děda také tvrdí, že je v pořádku. Her grandfather also argues that it is okay. „Jen blbne,“ komentoval šílené chování vnučky, kterou o víkendu viděl. "Just plays around," said granddaughter's crazy behavior, which saw over the weekend. " Indeed...
  20. As it happens I know you have (as I)... No speedway tickets at the gate though, promise. Have you done a forum search on this? I think Conkers has spilled ALL the beans on ALL the possible venues in the past regarding ice racing. He even opened a thread about the coming season in August, even before the polar bears had seen ice this year!
  21. I knew it would be asked so the info was there. It was sort of a rubbish meeting again with the officials ruling according how they felt and not the rules. But it was not the national final, just one for the public and riders to have another go on a track that is back in business. On the other hand you needed a license for it and the federation logo was on the program, so one would assume that rules would be followed. I was just writing a short story of the meeting to the Spar and it just looks stupid. Anyone who's interested can see straight away that the ref has been sh!te.
  22. Hyvinkää Indivual Open Hyvinkää (HyMK) 10.10.2010 Some good racing in the comeback meeting of the Hyvinkää track, couple of really good battles. It's a shame that the Finnish season ended in a smash as Marko Suojanen lost control of his bike while second on the third lap of the final. Timo Lahti was already gone when Suojanen hit a rut as Hautamäki was passing him from the inside. He lifted, almost got it under control and then hit another rut and he was gone. Heat was awarded and Suojanen given 3rd as Aarnio had already retired trough mechanical gremlins. It looked REALLY bad but he was up and walking on his own 30 minutes later. It's allright to ask though, how that was allowed to happen... Mäkinen withdrew himself from the semi after hurting his leg and his place was given to PP. Nothing serious. 23. The weather looks good for sundays meeting at Hyvinkää. There'll be a 80cc meeting and after that at 3pm 500cc. All the top Finnish riders will be there with the exception of Kauko Nieminen (and Kylmäkorpi naturally) who's lining up for Lublin in the Polish playoffs.
  24. Massacre and crying of children at Gröndal last sunday, 80cc test match between Sweden and Finland. 25. It seems that Loppi is a lot like KK outside the track also. Kalle was/Kalle hit a car on his moped a few times also... If anyone has the results from Jensen Cup last saturday, I'd be happy to receive them, write them up, update the averages and post here. I got a spreadsheet yesterday but it had heat's marked for a non-excistent rider... Not gonna sign that one with my name...
