I think Jussi Nyrönen should be proud of his score, I'd say he's surprised even himself. Anyway, well done!

Hope you make it. Kauhajoki club has announced that they are holding Finland vs. Sweden ice racing test match on March 5th.

I've been present as a journalist many times and still got them wrong! That was not the question though. I dont know how the live updates worked, but usually I do trust (most of) them... I guess I'll go with Mama's report then, since Mark Uzzell clearly did not finish second in heat three. If he really was excluded, the ref was an idiot. My brother recently picked up on his ice hockey ref career and has been getting some decent games this season. Anyway, as the juniors gain size they usually do more stupid things and I told him that he should always remember that if he himself does something wrong in the rink, it can be in youtube within minutes... Like with this one, the ref cant really talk his way out of this one... (if he did exclude him) EDIT2: Any idea about the size of the crowd? Looked decent...

Actually they seem to be totally wrong... It was a direct copypaste from the adress mentioned. Where did your's come from?

I found a clipping that says he won his 3rd consecutive key in -66. The key's were the centerpiece of his wall of honour at his home.

After another year of a double figure increase in percentage in interest I guess I have to do this again... Four teams in the Finnish SM-liiga this coming season after Kauhajoki decided they would not enter the league this year. They had problems gathering a competiteve team. So it's four and that's what we'll work with. Lineups are announced after January 15th. There was some controversial governing of the leagues last season and we'll have to see if it gets any better this year. I'm the new federation supremo behind league speedway so it's a bit 50-60 if anything will change. And after iris123 made my sauna an international news item, it's really not progressing all that well. It could be finished by the ice racing final but then again it was supposed to be finished for christmas. The obituary of Kalevi Lahtinen is here, use google translate yourself. It may not have been the best, as the man was THE sports superstar of his city back in the day.

Klatovsky gave it away... To leave the door open like that!
-
Enough sources have confirmed that Kalevi Lahtinen passed away just before christmas. He was one of the 16 riders that took part in the first ever Finnish speedway championship final back in 1955. Mentioning just that dont do him the credit he deserves so I'll wait for others with more knowledge to write about him. More on this next years thread. He was also a member of the VSRA.

I was gonna laugh but I'm glad I didn't. 320 meters of ice racing track averaging 10 meters in width... I'd probably bail out before I was even asked. The people at Gdansk clearing out for the track on a lake... Harri Saari from Finland is riding so I hope it turns out ok.

Merry Christmas! I'm starting to build up for the coming season now...

The Finnish SM-liiga (formerly known as Extraliiga) will be a four team battle again next year. Kuusankoski (fka Keittiöpiste), Hyvinkää (fka Sand Blowers), Pori (fka Paholaiset) and Seinäjoki (fka Kotkat) are those four teams. The door is kept open for a fifth team until the end of the year. Team nicknames will be announced with lineups after January 15th 2011. Kaupunki Cup will also be contested next year, more info on that WAY later...

Ok, they must have had a coffee break at speedway.org then, since I had this info (Berlin for 2011) from speedway.org several weeks ago... No biggie...
-
Whats this at speedway.org between Inzell and Berlin? Are they pallning to stage the Inzell round at Berlin?

Didn't even bother to read your post but when it comes to the Danish (international even) 80cc scene, I know there's no one else to turn to but you. You KNOW what your did...

Now you've done it...

Timo Lahti was made U21 rider of the year in Finland by Speedwaysanomat, the Finnish track racing magazine. Lahti turned 18 midway through the season and was practically untouchable on the Finnish tracks apart from a blip in form in the individual final at Kauhajoki. He was also an important part in the Finnish national team in all the international competitions. The award has earlier been given to Jari Mäkinen -07, Aki-Pekka Mustonen -08, Kalle Katajisto -09 and now Lahti 2010.
-
Nothing much positive has been said of their actions either in the past couple of years... If the governing body itself decides to give the boot for 3 of the 4 persons running track racing, it does not mean they've done a good job.

UEM has issued an updated track racing calendar for 2011 (November 30th) and the U19 Nordic final makes a return and Seinäjoki is hosting it on July 2nd. Timo Lahti is a clear candidate for the win, but unless Mika Loppi leaps astronomically during the winter with his performance and bikes it'll as ugly with the rest as it was in 2007. Allocations: DMU 7 SVEMO 6 SML 3+2

That'll get me started, thank you very many!
