Finland had three riders in the GP qualis this season. We got 2 trough and the 3rd as a reserve, the 19 year old rookie. I feel confident in saying that we have not had such success in the GP era of these qualis. I have the stats somewhere, not that bothered to check now as sauna is ready. I think the guys did a GREAT JOB!

Yes, we got it going!!! Second round of the Finnish SM-liiga started today at Hyvinkää. The weather was the same as last tuesday, shining while raining and it was not that far fetched that it would have been stopped, again. Eleven heats is the cut off point, and after that the rain stopped, track was graded and we finally saw some speedway after a really crap start to the meeting racing wise. Some highlights were Mäkinen beating Katajisto as the first this year, Katajisto beat both Lebedev and Timo Lahti, Mika Loppi challenged Katajisto til the end in one heat and the one that should never have happened: A huge brawl including officials, riders and a couple of mechanics after heat 18 over a lap of honour that should never have taken place. There's a strict curfew at Hyvinkää and it went really close… Katajisto looks really good both on and off the bike. He's fast and has lost over 10 kg in weight during the winter. He sends his regards: "If you want me, I'm available!" Copenhagen Gp Saturday 9th June
f-s-p replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
077.9.2 Ties After the completion of Heat 20, 21 or 22 When establishing the order between the riders in the list of Intermediate Classification at the conclusion of Heat 20, or following the completion of the Semi-Final Heats 21 and 22, any ties will be solved as follows: a) Precedence will be given to the riders (tied on race points) having the most number of 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th placings (a “0” for last placing is better than being disqualified for whatever reason). If the tie still persists and involves only 2 riders, precedence will be given to the better placed rider in the heat or heats where the 2 riders met. c) If the tie still persists and involves more than 2 riders, it shall be checked whether there is a possibility to determine a proper precedence (e.g. 3 riders tied on points: A, B, C: rider A has beaten rider B rider A has beaten rider C rider B has beaten rider C Then the precedence will be: best position for rider A, then rider B and then rider C. 26 d) If solutions a), and c) cannot resolve the tie, then the lowest riding number jacket will be deemed the better placed rider. The Intermediate Grand Prix Classification In case of riders tied on Grand Prix points in the Intermediate Classification, the lowest riding number jacket will be deemed the better-placed rider. The Final Overall Grand Prix Classification In case of riders involved in a tie on the Final Overall Grand Prix Classification, at the end of the Grand Prix Series, the following will apply: 1. Run-off for 1 st, 2nd and 3rd place. 2. Run-off for 8 th place, which is the last qualifying place for the following year’s Grand Prix Series. 3. For all other placings, the lowest riding number jacket will be considered the better-placed rider. You do naturally realize, that there's a chance of a ballot between riders befire the semi's, if nothing else falls into place... -

Individual Swedish Championship 2012
f-s-p replied to Ghostwalker's topic in International World of Speedway
I'm watching the rerun fron Canal+ and I just had to check: 3.2.4 Vid lika placeringar i övrigt skall den förare som erövrat flest antal heatsegrar placeras före i prisprotokollet. I sista hand tillgrips lottning. Thats from the Swedish rulebook, was the ref right or wrong? -
Just seen this. Arthur Sissis has become a Finn.
-
Lahti track is currently closed, they rode their first meeting at Hyvinkää. New date should be set in a couple of days.

Individual Swedish Championship 2012
f-s-p replied to Ghostwalker's topic in International World of Speedway
Not that anyone is asking me, but the ref has made a mistake according to my rulebook. There should have been no run off (heat 21) as Nermark had beaten Ljung in the preli's. Funny thing is, after talking about it for 8 weeks now, we finished the Finnish rule about this and it's now according to FIM. If nothing else can solve it, it's the toss of a coin. You dont do runoffs in the middle of the meeting. -
There was a report inthe Swedish press that the Ullevi stadium made losses over the GP. So good for BSI, they've played it right and someone else pays. There attendance at Göteborg has been pathetic since the GP that never was. People just have not returned (I havent) and on top of that there's no league speedway at the moment in Göteborg so people have sort of fell of the wagon...

As I was going in to a deeper depression last night, for some reason I started going through some older emails. Found an excellent shot, I'm covered! The meeting was cut short by rain, the results do not stand. New date should be set with in a weeks time. Katajisto beat Timo Lahti, passed him too after missing the start slightly. He won Mäkinen and Hautamäki as well, they were easy.

Finnish SM-liiga starts tomorrow at Hyvinkää. SPEEDWAYN SM-LIIGA 1/8 5.6.2012, KOKOONPANOT: Haukat: 1) Kalle Katajisto, 2) Jiri Nieminen, 3) Vili Mattila, 4) Mika Pellinen. Sand Blowers: 1) Jari Mäkinen, 2) Aarni Heikkilä, 3) Niko Siltaniemi 4) Pasi Pulliainen. Keittiöpiste: 1) Tero Aarnio, 2) Timo Lahti, 3) Teemu Lahti, 4) Marko Suojanen. Kotkat: 1) Juha Hautamäki, 2) Mika Loppi, 3) Markku Autio 4), Joni Keskinen. First start 6 pm our time. There is a liveupdate system, but dont know if this meeting is covered. The track at Hyvinkää has been worked on alot during the close season, new top material has been added and the early reports suggest that it's gonna be really good. We'll see tomorrow.

I know turning up with four causes problems/hassle/paperwork/possibly a fine. Dont think it's any easier if there's only three.
-
It all depends naturally, Lahti is 19 and been scoring double figures around and beating riders that are established in Poland. A bit like Hausinger I bet... Though I understand your point exactly. It's just that the money in Poland is ridicolous... If I only spoke/wrote polish...
-
Was also interesting that Stella was definately the biggest beer in New York... Timo Lahti spent the whole weekend practising in Rzeszow, thats why he missed both Teterow and Gustrow.
-
I hear Timo Lahti's poor show in Poland was largely to do with his engine breaking down just before the meeting. Considering he did not even have his own bikes there, it was a huge "blow" to his chances. Anyway, he did enough during the weekend and is getting another crack at it. On other news, our U21's sucked at Abensberg today...
-
My opinion is that the riders can mess and p_ss about the whole 1 minute and 59 sec's they have, it's their right and part of the mental game and this sport. But according to the rules they have to be ready to start when the time runs out. These guys were idiots on this occasion...
-
Excellent call by the ref!
