I think I'm booked for a weekend in Riga, Latvia with the ms's and the inlaws for the Wroclaw weekend. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You can always get a taxi from Riga to Wroclaw.

Agree that Krsko can be awkward but don't be totally put off it's too good a g.p to miss. Last year I booked at the last minute. Flew Newquay-Stansted-Ljubliana, hired a car at the airport, stayed in Ljubliana (terrific bars and cafes, great saturday market etc) and drove to Krsko for the g.p (about 1 hours drive). Bought tickets at the track, no problems. Had a wonderful time. On sunday went for a drive in beautiful Slovenia, had lunch half way up a mountain, caught return flights and was back home in my local pub by 9pm. There was a large sports thing happening in Ljubliana that particular weekend but still no probs getting accomodation.

Wroclaw GP
pugwash replied to sjw ministerofport's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Think that you will find Wroclaw is a lot less expensive than touristy Prague. Expect to pay about £7 for a meal for 2 people (inc 2 small beers) in any of the cafes around the main square. Price also includes free entertainment as the square is full of mime artists, musicians, jugglers, acrobats and unfortunately the inevitable beggar. Also it's a relatively crime free city compered with Prague, Warsaw etc. -
I'm mentioning it now. Krsko, Wroclaw, Bydgoszcz and Cardiff.

Wroclaw GP
pugwash replied to sjw ministerofport's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Just booked flights for Mrs Pugwash and myself, (Ryanair) Newquay-Stansted-Wroclaw £90 return each, inc taxes etc. Total journey time 5 hours 25 mins, incredible. Have stayed at Hotel Radisson and Hotel H.P Park Plaza previously both first class. IMO Park Plaza the better of the two, but this time round I'm going to try the Art Hotel which is just off the main square. Park Plaza, the Art & City Hotel Bydgoszcz are all part of Polish Prestige Hotels, (www.pph.com.pl) play your cards right and you can get 20 % discount. Wroclaw is a brilliant city, totally different from industrial Bydgoszcz and your'e sure to have a great time no matter where you stay. Hope to see you there. -
Well Done TRICK!
pugwash replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Just as in his time Mohammed Ali was always The Peoples Champ, even if some young upstart temporarily held the title,(e.g J Frazier, G Forman),then so Trick is the Peoples Champ of speedway. He is the man that most want to see, he is the man that sells tickets. He is The Greatest. -

There is a track in Warsaw but they went out of business last year. Although if you go into the "Sports Bar" under the Marriot Hotel on Monday night they will have the live televised Sky Sports Elite League match. I think that it's a play off match, so don't expect to see Arena or Swindon. If its B.V it will be rained off.

It's settled then!! My "man" came trough, and we are booked in the City as well. I thought the hotels would be full, so I gave the task to someone who has connections. Apparently they are not, but at least we have a place to stay (a bit more high profile than the Europejski in Wroclaw though ...) We are arriving friday evening, on sunday morning we'll leave for the Torun meeting, and stay there overnight. Compensation tickets are arriving late this or early next week, we'll know about seats better by then. Probably backstraight... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Great news, looks like being a boozy weeekend.

f-s-p. See you for a beer. We're staying at City Hotel and going to sit on back straight. Hope you have got some accomodation, if not you can crash out on our floor. Sorry no three in a bed.

Danish bacon. 2nd class intensively reared s**te aimed at undermining British quality. Just like Hans it leaves a foul taste in your mouth.
