  1. I'm not a big BZ fan but I don't think he's that bad. Certainly not in Pedersen league of dirtyness Also I have rarely seen him go down when a rider has made a tough move on him. He generally does everything he can to stay up right. With BZ it will come down to staying strong mentally. A lot of pressure on a young rider and I think you can 'get at him' on the first lap and upset his rhythm. If you don't he's generally in another postcode
  2. U21 champion 2007 & 2008 Just had a look on Wikipedia and what surprised me is that Danii Ivanov 2007 and Igor Kononov 2008 made the final - finishing ahead of Tai Woffinden!!
  3. Spot on. The only rider outside those you have mentioned who could genuinely be an improvement would be G. Laguta. But I wouldn't wildcard him as I think it sends out the wrong message. I hope he tries and qualifies through the challenge next year. Drabik, Smeketa, Pawlicki, Michelson are all decent but aren't at the level of Doyle, Tai, Laguta, Magic, Hancock just yet
  4. What happened with the rider safety issue? Pawlicki is such an odd rider. You sometimes watch him and he looks like a future world champion. Some of the early season stuff in Poland he looked incredible.
  5. I don't think there is anything wrong with the sgp qualifying system. Just because Zagar and NKI aren't winning SGPs they are in my opinion still in the top 16 in the world.
  6. Can't see anyone other than Vaculik winning the challenge. He's a bit better than this IMO I would go with Vaculik, Fricke, Michelsen, Bjerre as a top 4 Would like to Bellego get through.
  7. He rides far too much. All that racing and travelling he must be goosed I think he still has a SGP title in him. He was top of the averages I think in Sweden last year but dropped off a bit in Poland. Most likely a new team in Poland next year might get the spark back. As a slight aside I can see more riders riding Poland, SGPs and SEC
  8. Agreed Vaculik could easily win this without been noticed My theory on BZ is that you need to rough him up early on in a race to unsettle him and disturb his rhythm. I think Madsen has his number in the SGP at the moment
  9. I know just seen it! Thanks anyway. Kind of nice watching a SGP on catch up without routing for a rider solely based on fantasy betting.
  10. Catching up on life at the moment so just watched the sgp in Polish and FFWD through all the non race bits Did FF get interviewed after heat 6? It looked like he managed to change direction and pull a wheelie to avoid PD. Has he said anything about it?
  11. Jarek Hampels 2019 passing quota was achieved against Lublin. He doesn't need to make another pass until 2020 now
  12. I thought that might be the case but it's still a proper trek from Poland to Sweden!!
  13. Question related to this thread. But out of interest does Jason Doyle have bikes in UK, Sweden & Poland or is he shipping bikes around Europe as he needs them?
  14. The post topic is about 2020 so I was looking at 2020. I didn't expect much following TW injuries and the crash. I'm not sure why you think that I did. For GB to do well and I would say that is to reach heat 22 and beyond you need a happy motivated TW and if that means a change in management then the changes need to be made Longer term I don't see enough GB speedway to comment on what is been done with rider development. We will always struggle against the Poles to bring through as many top riders just because of the number of quality opportunities a young Pole will get given the popularity of the sport over there From what I see GB speedway is that it comes across a bit unprofessional. I don't understand why the top riders are allowed to ride in Premiership and Championship. I believe that brings our better riders down to the level of the lower league opposition. There seems to be too many small trick tracks and not enough big fast wide tracks. I think this works against GB riders making a success in Poland. However I'm sure it can all be solved relatively quickly. As long as there are still plenty of young riders with the appetite and drive to succeed then things can change. They just need to be given opportunities to progress to showcase their talents Perhaps a tie up with the Swedish or Danish league to get some of there young riders over here and vice-versa would help our young riders take the next step
  15. I was going to hold off until the last minute but you stole my thunder. I also saw MM against Torun for Lublin (14 points) I was always going all in on this one. Unfortunately for you I have more chips to play with
  16. I'm purely looking at he GB set up for the major meetings. Tai doesn't need to pull world class riders out if thin air. He needs to motivate and assist what is already there namely Lambert & Beweley. Peter Ljung was the highest scoring number 2 rider over 2 days of racing. He's hardly world class. If Lambert could target 7-8-9 points in the SON each day and Woffinden do the rest then GB could easily be making the tapes in heat 22 & 23
  17. You'd have to be a certified half wit not to build the GB set up around TW. Just put to one side the fact that you might not like what he says, what he looks like or where he rides and just accept that in this moment GB can only be successful with TW at the top of his game.
  18. I wasn’t able to watch this event live and just caught up this morning. Reading through the last 27 pages of comments at work has been highly entertaining. So well done to all involved. Not sure how Kenny Carter got shoe horned into the conversation though. My Thoughts: Sometimes you just have to accept that something hasn’t worked and the SON is an example. No point trying to flog a dead horse. Just ditch it now. The Poles couldn’t be ar$ed with it in Wroclaw and there weren’t that many more there in Togliatti. 2-day speedway events just don’t work (Amsterdam 87?) Just go back to the old style 4 team, 4 Rider WTC. Run both semis on the Saturday at different tracks in the same country and a Final on the Sunday. So in UK go KL, Poole & Belle Vue as an example. I wouldn’t guarantee the hosts a spot but if you had to make the event 5 team with 4 riders. I just don’t buy the idea that the WTC was boring because Poland were so good. They are the top team but by no means unbeatable. They won 4 out of 8 WTC since it was re-hashed and 2 of them at home. Russia and Denmark would run them very close in a WTC and it would be far more interesting GB. Got to sack Rossiter. I thought it might have been a mistake to take Bewley or A. Another due to his age but having seen just how bad Harris was then you might as well have taken me. Cook I think shouldn’t shoulder too much criticism. He tried his best and circumstances made him the number 1 when really he should have been in the pits making the tea Back to Russia for an SGP? FIM have never let a rubbish show of a track stop them before so it will probably get a SGP in 2020. I do think it was the perfect storm or a hot day, poor preparation and riders who didn’t know how to race the track Final point. Poland. So glad that they messed up in heat 23 as I don’t for one minute believe that Magic was injured / poorly. That was tactical to bring Dudek in and it backfired because they bottle it big time in the final
  19. I think Dan Bewley would be better missing the SON at this point in his career. Not sure racing against the world's best on an unfamiliar track out in Russia would be that great for him. If it was in the UK at the NSS I could see the merit.
  20. Good news. Perhaps as round 1 was a bit rubbish maybe not a bad thing that Eurosport only showed the last few heats Torun should be excellent
