Even though the Cardiff GP is the pinnacle for the riders, same as past football World/FA CUP Finals and other major sporting finals, they don't always deliver unfortunately.

Leicester V Swindon Mon 29th June Sky Match
van wolfswinkel replied to robert72's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Hope they don't dispose of Greg, Swindon's second best rider this year and in top 20 EL averages. Despite what some people believe the track is not always prepared for Sky, at least not at Wiltshire's Abbey Stadium anyway. -
Compared to a few of the European GPs in the past couple of years the racing at Cardiff wasn't brilliant but the track was one of the best I've seen, especially when compared to the dangerous, rutted surface in 2008, when was also a massive Gate 1 bias.
-
If you want a good chippy go to Philips Cricklade Road Gorse Ill, bloody massive pieces of fish as well, as good as York Road, although the chips at The Abbey aint bad.
-
Nearly 5000 down on last year then! Perhaps not as many Poles, and don't think the presentation/noise/atmosphere is as good as 10 years ago.
-
What was the official attendance? Looked slightly up on last year. Could understand the look of disgust from Lambert when Garrity needlessly took him out! And you always need Naughty Nicki as the pantomime villain, unluckily Killer was on the receiving end of him and Doyley.
-
And surprisingly one Robins fan at Cardiff yesterday didn't know the Robins were signing Darcia! Hope The Batch is ok. after his crash, bad bruising, and Peter The Killer was superb, shame he's not still riding for Swindon. Great atmosphere on the last party train back from Bristol Temple Meads, with the usual chants of ""We Hate Oxford" from a few of the many Robins fans onboard. Spoke to a chippy from Swindon who is starting work on the new stadium soon, foundations already started by the market.

Great day out as usual, average racing, good weather and live music from The Magoos, hope Batch is ok. Too much reliance on Gate 1 Red. Good to see Iversen win from 3 white, superb pass of Holder, who was favourite to win it, although disappointing for the Brits/ Woffy fans. First time I've heard the Danish anthem at Cardiff, been going since 2005, and missed 3 in that time. Don't know why they were selling 38 quid tickets in 29 quid area between bends 3-4? Will be buying in advance in future. And the 9.00 London train disappeared, most of the Swindon fans managed to pack onto the sardine-like Bristol Temple Meads train, although a few couldn't get on that one, and could have missed their connection to Swindon. Great atmosphere on the late-night party train. Hope the family from Ipswich got all their drinks into the stadium through security, because of the big crowds waiting to get in could only search a few peeps. Should open gates at 3.30 Still a fab day out in the Welsh capital, and the minutes silence for the Tunisian massacre victims was impeccably observed. See ya next year.

Swindon - Wolves 2nd July 15
van wolfswinkel replied to A ORLOV's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Everyone will be cheering him on...don't want to see Hansi back really... great popularity and 2012 captain and all that...but on current form 7.00 average and only 5th. in the Cov averages...not in Darcia's league now. Looking forward to seeing Batch, Killer and Doyley, members of that great title-winning squad, at Cardiff tomorrow, along with a few other ex-Robins Zagar, Janowski, Jonasson, Krackerjack. -
Tai Woffinden On Talksport

Tai on Radio 2 last night...good exposure with 6 million listeners. -
Let's not forget the late Lee Richardson...was on the podium 11 years ago.

Swindon - Wolves 2nd July 15
van wolfswinkel replied to A ORLOV's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Decent weather and crowd...Wolves were abysmal again at The Abbey...Zengy superb, now moves above Batch into top 20 of EL averages, cant see how he can be dropped if Ward signs. Lindgren used to be the top rider in league poor show although Batch and Hansi and Zagar are also having poor seasons by their standards. -
They can and will. Lost 4 plastic bottles of water the first time I went there. Managed to retrieve 2 out of the skip though when they weren't looking! Now wear trousers with lots of pockets. Good to hear Radio 2 feature on the Cardiff extravaganza at about 6.45 this evening, and interview with Tai. They said will be 60,000 there...more like 45,000! Great to see a Brit leading and should be a great atmosphere. Train departs for Swindon at 9.00, hopefully meeting will be concluded by 8.15? Park and walk last year for 10 quid! massive queues for buses...that's why we're going by rail. I would park in one of the side streets nearer the stadium if I was driving. Always seem to get stuck on M4 going, easy coming out if you avoid city centre and head for Cardiff West junction.

Somerset And The Confederate Flag
van wolfswinkel replied to drvortexz's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Pretty soon the only place to buy a confederate flag will be the black market...oh the irony! -
Watched it from the centre-green and couldn't see much wrong...as usual the whingy whiny armchair/keyboard warriors/winkers always look for the negatives. Belle Vue are an excellent outfit.
-
Spurs and football have nothing in common. You still get a few peeps from Reading, Oxford and Bristol that go to the Abbey.
-
Slight delay on starting work on the new stadium...Rosco, Tommo and Osbo pictured in the Adver.
-
So were Crashby, Crumpie, Autrey, Kilbs, Broady, etc.,
-
Would bloody love it if Darcia signed for The Robins...probably best rider I've seen at Blunsdon since Briggo.

Swindon V Belle Vue 18/6/15
van wolfswinkel replied to Chalkie's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Was great to watch the racing from the centre-green, appreciate the speed, team riding, tactics, and close combat, looks a lot more dangerous! The crowd looks even more sparse, and the track half the size. What a load of bollox a few armchair/keyboard warriors talk on here... Belle Vue deservedly beat The Robins, all-round strength, must be in with a great chance of a League title, the first in many years. We gave them a well-deserved round of applause. Batch's bike definitely cut out in the first race, and it's sad when a guest is their top rider. On this performance not good enough for a top 4, radical overhaul needed. The crowd was only about half the size of the last meeting, great weather though, and the chips were lovely! -
Swindon V Belle Vue 18/6/15
van wolfswinkel replied to Chalkie's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Don't think Rosco and Doyley get on that well according to me bruv who spoke to ex-Robin in Adelaide this year...same with North Dakota. -
Swindon V Belle Vue 18/6/15
van wolfswinkel replied to Chalkie's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Nonsense I've never heard screaming and shrieking from the Bakers bogs. Still a concern that the Blunsdon back-straight bogs wont be incorporated into the new stadium plan, which will surely result in the disbanding of the back-straight bog crew, in existence since 1949. -
Flux knows? Wont be doing park and ride this year after last years shambles. Train from Swindon-Cardiff if timings allow...otherwise will be driving and parking near stadium.

Swindon V Belle Vue 18/6/15
van wolfswinkel replied to Chalkie's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Looking forward to watching a heat from the centre-green on Thursday...will go 48-42 to The Rampant Rockin Red Robins. Zagar will do better this time round. Be interesting to see how many show up after last meeting. Speaking to one of the main sponsors was saying it wasn't promoted well enough. Wardy signing would put a few hundred on the gate...superb talent far better than Batch. Still no sign of a start to the new stadia. Good to see a 2012 Elite League Champions photo at the Bakers Arms, Badbury...best chish n'fips around!
