Lakeside Vs. Robins
van wolfswinkel replied to Crazy robin's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The Roobins need to win this but not hopeful, apart from the cannon fodder Blackcountrymen some tough away matches, and loads of 'em. -
Dunno whats wrong with Troyboy this season...as big a disappointment as Kenneth Bjerre. Was in top 6 EL averages with Peterboro a few years ago, now not in top 25, very poor for a GP rider supposedly the top 15 in world. Seems to lack conviction in some race battles and just rides instead of races. The skip needs to being doing a lot better if Roobins are to get into the play-offs. Time must be running out for Krcmar.Full credit to the club for signing Wardy after the Meidzinski farce, otherwise the season would be over by now. The fans would probably feel more confident if and when the new stadium starts to be constructed and the future looks more secure. We are told will start this month, then next month, then next month... we need to know whats going on...houses now encroaching the current Abbey.

A work colleague from Wantage, once in Berkshire, now in Oxfordshire, used to watch speedway at Swindon, Oxford, Reading, for about 40 years, roughly the same distance from all 3 tracks.

Yeah poor record of 3 league titles, 6 Fa Cups, and 5 Community Shields, should have been sacked years ago. Great to see the Purton flyer being given a chance -

What a superb comeback from The Robins...looked dead and buried, fantastic performance from Greg Zengota. Wolves are awful
-
Wolves 44 Roobins 46...Swindon really need to start winning away to get into play-offs.

Swindon's New Stadium
van wolfswinkel replied to remembertheracers's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
So much noise from those women tennis players screaming with every shot! Could be the end for Swindon speedway if the new stadium is not built...drive past every day and will let you know if a wheelbarrow appears on the car park! -
No surprises then..could probably add a few more to the list, which can be out-of-date due to changes in management/ownership etc.,. Should be compulsory for all businesses to display a rating so customers can avoid the squits!
-
Ta very muchly Would have to be a very dry sunny day for us to consider the 2000 mile round-trip from Wiltshire!
-
390 spaces is no bleedin good...current car park holds 1100, say 2 peeps per vehicle only 780 can use car park. People will be parking on St.Andys Ridge estate. Can understand Moredon P&P closing, hardly anyone used it, probably didn't cover the man-in-the-hut wages. And Cheney Manor Estate road is still closed!
-
In car park at right-angle to current stadium about 50 yards away (between bends 1/2 where admission gates are situated). Houses now up to pits, away changing rooms were moved.

Thanks...if the Royal Box is a quid we may try that...if its good enough for Her Royal Highness...cheers guys
-
Cheers...he's not in wheelchair but couldn't stand for 2 hours. How much is Box, and is it advanced booking?
-
Dunno matey...think it will happen but fans getting edgy with the delay I suppose.
-
May make visit up to KL end of next month to watch The Roobins...is there any seating as my bruv is disabled, or do we bring our own like we do at Blunsdon!? Best places for food and drink around there...cheers.
-
Drive past the old stadium every month, sad to see the derelict site now, made a few visits to watch The Robins at Smallmead. They still have "stadium" on road sign!
-
Swindon do have a good record at Brandon, although the Bees have had a few decent results at Blunsdon as well since the Robins returned to the Elite 11 years ago. Should be getting much better attendances at Blunsdon with massive catchment area...Basingstoke/Reading/Oxford/Bristol/Bath/Gloucester/Cheltenham etc., all within 40-miles of the Wiltshire track etc.,

Me mate's doing his nut, he's waiting to start work on it. Every day on way to work I drive past expecting to see a wheelbarrow or JCB or something...nothing yet!! Something to do with noise barrier to be approved by Swindon Council holding it up.
