Darce should be well clear at the top. In his 10 meetings for Swindon has scored 116 +14 bonus points in 50 rides, with only 3 of those being home matches. If Iversen can top that he's bloody brilliant!

Risk...acceptable Or Unacceptable?
van wolfswinkel replied to customhouseregular's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
After watching from the centre-green at Swindon the other week the I realised the sport looks even more dangerous. Tracks are not wide enough for the speed of the bikes now. Perhaps some people are attracted by crashes, but as many will be put off by all the injuries. the riders know the risks involved, its their choice. And there are quite a few top riders on 6-figure incomes. The air-fence was a good innovation and has stopped some serious injuries. There were more deaths in the "old" days. Unfortunately Lee is one of the few fatalities this century. -
They make it so bloody difficult to climb in thesedays...can remember at my local track Swindon in 68 GBvSweden crowd of 12000, there was a longer queue to climb over the wall than to pay at the turnstiles! You used to be able to pull a wire-fence out and just clamber in over a low wall. My bruv even took wirecutters, and can remember on one occasion was knocked clean out after walking into a protruding pipe. Too old now at 59 for all that although could try pole-vaulting in perhaps.

Was chatting to my cousin on the dog n' bone, lives near Aspatria, or Spatri as she calls it, she was at the first meeting at DP around 1970, she said loads of marras got in without paying. So the following meeting they greased the pipes over the river, resulting in loads of wet marras!

Hiya bud, still occasionally watch that 2012 Grand Final DVD you recorded for me. The Blunsdon club shop should bring out an Aaron Summers wig, perhaps modelled by Big Bald Ronnie Russell, would be a best-seller! -
Don't see why Wardo cant be champion, superb natural talent on a bike, have been lucky enough to watch him ride for Swindon recently, same as Robins legends Briggo and Adams, stalks his prey and blasts past them with ease. has the audacity to do wheelies during a race, expert team-rider, and picks his lines well. The only thing that could stop him achieving success is him, attitude and behaviour, which seems to be improving. Likes chatting to the fans at Blunsdon, when permitted.

Coventry V Swindon - 21/08/2015

Watched him and Steady up at Worky in 2004, then both went onto Swindon. Rubbish gater but superb racer, with Simon should have hit the heights of speedway racing. Both nice down-to-earth friendly northern lads, always had time for a chat, perhaps they're too nice to make it, must be some mental attitude thing. Won the PL title at Blunsdon if I remember correctly. Steady had so many injuries, could have been up there with Zagar of Reading, they were the top 2 riders in the PL in 2004. Virtually unbeatable in Cumbria, even beat a certain Mr. Adams there to win the Stonehewer testimonial. -
Lewis Blackbird Retires

Heard this announced over the tannoy at Blunsdon on Thursday..good luck Lewis...sadly a case of Bye Bye Blackbird!!! Difficult for some riders to make a living with ever-increasing costs. -

I think Harness lacked support...I'll get me coat -
The future looks good for The Roobins, crowds up with Wardo coming in, a shiny new stadium with actual seating as well next year. If Miedzinski had stayed at 1 crowds would have been well down. Whether it will be viewing Elite or some other format at the new gaff we don't know but positive news from Russell...should take 5 months to build.

King's Lynn V Swindon 9th Sept 19.45

Certainly wont be making the long trip from Wiltshire to Norfolk if Lynn are not at full-strength, would be a hollow victory. -
Perhaps the Wiltshire Moonrakers have a mental block when they go over the border into the Land of the Knobs. Cant see Darce not winning a race this time, will be much closer than the hammering they received last time. Reminds me of Briggo and Leigh Adams, tracks a rider for a couple of laps then just just blasts past them. Great riding on Thursday, picking his lines well, and superb team riding, great team spirit now, and has done wonders for Batch and Summers.

Long way to go yet, but Swindon and Poole are defo the best teams at the moment. That must be the secret to success, lots of Aussies and a few Poles. Kings Lynn unlucky with injuries. Belle Vue the best team at Blunsdon this year. I watched from the centre-green and Cookie was so bloody fast, should be in top 10 of EL averages. No team can compete with the Roobins top5 at present.

Great show from those ROOBINS, stuffing Lynn and Cov 2 nights running, if they win at Lynn and Poole, much tougher asks, can be serious title contenders. What a superb signing Summers is.

Very poor signing indeed could only finish 3rd. in his first race, simply not good enough..must have been his hairstyle that put 'em off I guess. Rosco is a far better motivator. Great stadium to watch motor-cycle racing though. Another superb performance from those ROOBINS and another win at Cov!!! -
Swindon V Kings Lynn 20/08
van wolfswinkel replied to Adder's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Very good crowd of around 1500, (car park looked pretty full), considering the weather, Wardy total class yet again, he's putting a few hundred on the gate. Unlucky Darryl. Lynn were totally abysmal first-half but won the second-half once they got positive about the track! Lindgren and Bjerre are dire thesedays for ex-GP riders. Racing in the main processional. First time I've seen the lights go out! delay of about 15-20 minutes. Good to see so many staying for second-half youth racing. Don't think there's a better top 5 than the Rockin ROObins, Summers is another great signing at number 2. Onwards and upwards! Be good to get more Swindon fans on the forum to get up to the Hill to watch meetings! -

Well done to the Aussies, a hard-earned point, another superb max from Darcy...lost at reserve. Good win for the Mancs, and good to see decent crowd.
