  1. Last time at Blunsdon watched a few heats from the centre-green and Cookie was easily the fastest rider, superb speed and powered past two Robins. Zagar and Cookie to score well. With no Darce Batch not good enough at number 1 or skipper to motivate the Robins to an aggregate win. And with 8 at Belle Vue he was the top scorer! Morra obviously badly affected by his close mates injury. Big reliance on Killer Zengi and Wrighty to hit big scores.... will go Swindon 42 Madchester 50 Weather forecast not good.
  2. The Marlborough lad was Swindon through and through, rode 197 times for The Robins. Highlight for me was when he beat Terry Betts twice in one meeting at The Abbey. R.I.P. David
  3. Would have gone but on holiday in the Land of the Knobs...after the Aces big victory at The Abbey last time out can only see a Manc win, Batch, Morra and Zengota are off-form. Was only Darce's work that enabled Swindon to progress to the play-offs, they're just not good enough to win the title. Swindon's last match at the famous Abbey.
  4. Remember David in around 1972 riding in second-half races for Swindon Starlets. Can also remember him in later years beating Terry Betts of Kings Lynn twice, around The Abbey. His career though was plagued by illness and injuries, and he broke a collar-bone in his last ever ride riding for the All-Stars against the 67 title winning team in the late 80s. The local Marlborough-lad rode 197 times for the Robins, a good club servant. R.I.P. David. Good to see homes being occupied at Kilby Crescent at the new Blunsdon Mead development. Well done Swindon Town FC for organising a collection for Darky at the next home match
  5. June was alright(especially Wimbledon fortnight) so was some of April(sat in garden). Hardly any rain April-July but always seems to bloody rain in August when the kids are off. If the Daily Express says it will be a cold winter it wont be!
  6. If Swindon wasn't my local club quite like Kings Lynn as number 2. Poole and Coventry the closest, both about 70-miles away. Although as an ex-New Cross and Wimbledon fan, Lakeside would be the nearest to a London club, so they would be number 3 choice! Would like to see Belle Vue win it this year as unlikely Swindon will.
  7. The only berk I've seen wearing bloody purple chinos was a tranny at Bangkok airport... the big poofter. Not suitable for speedway crowds this sort of trouserwear, although The Robins did ride in purple! Anyone wearing purple chinos should be refused admission banned for life IMO, unless they're called Prince.
  8. Oscar was a legend at Eastville, Bristol Rovers home. Can remember one game when we were there with Millwall, the game was so boring the fans started chanting his name as he stood behind the goal on the dog-track!
  9. Were the sombrero-wearing mob out in force tonight? Encountered the buggers on my last trip there. Did many west-country fans make the miserable long trip up and back?
  10. Remember a mass punch-up between Swindon and Oxford fans, and a Swindon coach was stoned, resulting in the fans getting off and chasing the Oxford sods, perhaps early 80s, more needle than Swindon-Reading. Why did they extract the urine out of the SS seller? Was chatting to a Swindon-born ex-Reading fan the other week at Blunsdon, recalling the days at Tilehurst when the won the league in 1973. Remember the stadium by the main railway line. Sold accident insurance to the riders at Smallmead mid-80s, and last visited when Swindon hammered them in 2007, hundreds of Robins fans there, Mad Wellie Reading boss. Sad sight when I work in Green Park and see the derelict site now, then you look at the majestic MadStad down the road and recall when the Royals were at that old tip at Elm Park, and sometimes got lower crowds than the Racers!
  11. They miss Hans Andersen as skip...he pumped them up to win the title in 2012, and Darce was a great motivator in those 10 meetings this year. Troyboy is not a good skip.
  12. Cant see The Robins getting this back, especially after the beating The Aces handed out to Swindon on their last visit to Wiltshire. Oh well glad I'm on holiday in Knobland next week. Great achievement by Rosco though, 8 play-offs in 9 years, The Robins were in the Premier 12 years ago. Now always in top 4, The Arsenal of speedway. Would like to see The Mancs win the trophy, they're probably the biggest wooden-spoonists this century, and haven't won it for 22 years!
  13. I just bulldoze my way through it nowadays
  14. Yep there till Wednesday, I clambered into the cockpit like the rest of the kids!! Bit tight for a 17 stone 6ft.3 old geezer like me!
  15. Swindon drew at Poole last week so would fancy their chances over two legs.
  16. Don't think so, the stadium will take about 5 months to build and should start early winter.
  17. They will...The Rosco Arena is taking 5 months to build starting early winter. Will go 48-42 to the Mancs, then 50-42 to The Robins at The Abbey
  18. I think Rosco will have his Rampant Red Robins well-pumped up for this...can see Seindon blasting their way to the trophy...the unstoppable Wiltshire Juggernaut or Giant Tractor!
  19. After Killer's blast at Poole last night to grab 2 points for The Robins the Wiltshire team have a fantastic chance of winning the semi. Poole still overall favs though. Are the Madchester Mexicans still around? Was chatting to a few on my last visit to Mancland in 2004, a60-30 battering by the Aces.
  20. Belle Vue won comfortably scoring over 50 at Swindon so probably start as favs I would say, depending on Zagar. But I will go for Roscos Rampant Rip-Roaring Red Robins to meet Poole in a west-country final, repeat of 2012.
