  1. The Tigs are having a party. The Tigs are having a party. The Tigs are having a paaaaaaaaaarty... ...The Monarchs are in their beds!!!! ( Where I should be as I'm up in 4.5 hours for work. But way to excited now)
  2. Can a mod change the title of this thread to "2014 Premier League Champions elect" Thank you **Smug Smug Smug**
  3. Bit harsh in my opinion. Joe started off doing the job that was expected, but like always, a young rider pops out has the ride of his life and beats an opposing teams heat leader, and from there on in Glasgow fans expect him to be doing it every week. Ps 6+3 against Ipswich in August 5+3 against Plymouth in September 10+2 against Somerset in August 8+3 against Berwick in June 7+1 against Workington in June 5+1 against Leicester in May 5 against Scunthorpe in May 8+1 against Newcastle in May I don't know what you deem a decent performance for a young rider starting on a 3 point average, but it looks to me that he had many more than the 2 in April you stated.
  4. Glad I went to Tynecastle today instead. Now that was a team filled with young boys, who fought with a determination and pride for the maroon jersey. Led by an experienced captain who was willing to run through a brick wall, and I'm sure the younger players responded to that. But enough about the Famous. One thing I thought of though today whilst waiting on my train was that Glasgow v Edinburgh meetings have been totally devalued over the years due to the amount of times we race each other in a season. I know football is a totally different kettle of fish, but I do remember the times when I would have felt the way I did this morning (before going to the Edinburgh Derby) on the morning of a Scottish Speedway derby. Now it's just "Meh" I know it's a "big money maker" for the clubs, although I don't know if that is entirely true these days, but I would like to see us only ride in the league and any Premier Trophy northern section. Scrap the spring cup entirely and even have the Scottish cup run every 2 years. Well done to Edinburgh today. Going from the updates on the chatzone it was an entertaining meeting, with loads of passing so at least the fans were entertained. Anyway I'm now off to celebrate some more. (And for any Hibees looking in.....HaHaHaHaHaHaHa)
  5. Just received the newsletter. States the promotion intend to announce exciting team news in the next 24 hours, just waiting on BSPA ratification. Would we need BSPA ratification if we were merely extending Andres contract, or does this mean another new rider?
  6. You're being to polite, it was a disgusting post. I guess I should start by apologising, to anyone thats read it, I know you don't come on to forums to read such vile. I think it was a mixture of getting beat by our rivals, and of course the demon drink. But no excuses, I was out of order for what i wrote. Anybody who has seen my facebook postings will know (and were probably shocked) because I'm always raving about Joe Screen. To say I am utterly embaressed is an understatement. Sorry again, to all whom I offended.
  7. Doesn't help when your captain starts doing wheelies whilst at the back. But no doubt he will be on twitter as I speak, telling everyone how unhappy he is at Glasgow, how much he dislikes the current promotion or how he wants to be in a winning team and how he is only in it for himself now. ...here's a thought, F**k off and retire now, and let people that want and deserve to wear the stripes represent us. To think he will go down in history along with Steve Lawson, Shane Bowes, Nigel Crabtree, Mick Powell and Shane Parker as Glasgow captains. Makes me sick
  8. Well I'm going to stick my head above the water here and say I'm going for a Glasgow win of 49-41. Andre will score double figures, and I can foresee Jonas getting his best score to date, and chip in with about 6-7. Wee Joe Jacobs will come out on top of the reserve battle, and we will see Henning dance at least twice tomorrow.
  9. Can't wait for this one, with being on holiday and the Red Revolution Open last week, it's been 4 weeks since I last seen a proper Tigers meeting. Excited to see the 2 new guys, Andre in particular. He was always my favourite non-tiger rider, so to get to cheer for him in the stripes will be great. There really are just to many plus points about this meeting. : Screen v Lawson : New look team : Ringwood back AND at reserve : Bager looking like he is back on form, going on last weeks showing : and hopefully a massive crowd, swelled by the Berwick faithful who always are good fun. : Rain last night, giving the track a good watering, and cloudy today so track should be perfect. So all in all if you're swithering about attending, in my opinion, you will kick yourselves if you decide to stay at home. Because I have a feeling both sets of fans will be on here later raving at home good a meeting that was. Get your backside trackside :-D May the best team win
  10. Good to hear, I remember fondly the days when Workington came a calling to Ashfield and if you wanted your usual spot you had to get there mightily early. For the closer it got to tapes up, the more and more the sea of blue would spread throughout the stadium. I doubt we will ever see those days again, but even a quarter of what used to turn up would be a decent away support.
  11. Paulco has basically said everything I would have! Joe Jacobs wow just wow!
  12. Should be a cracker! Weather reports suggest we've seen all the rain we are going to this week. So plenty time to get the track in tip top condition, to provide some exciting racing. ...and with Glasgows 3 young lads I'm sure there will be excitement a plenty. Going for a narrow Glasgow win. Possibly even a last heat decider :-)
  13. I thoroughly enjoyed that meeting. Joe Screen around the boards is something everyone should witness and I'm so glad I decided to go back whilst I still get to see him week in and week out. The 3 young Aussies really impressed. All 3 had their moments in the meeting and even when behind looked right on the pace. Although many of the races were FTG that doesn't tell the whole story. Most of the races, all 4 riders were on the same quarter of the straight, and there was a lot of races were the rider at the back was buzzing all over the rider in front. Still the score line and the close racing meant there was always something to cheer on. I'm off to make an appointment with my doctor, as I seem to have caught the bug again **boom boom** Roll on next Sunday
  14. They should just put the start time back to 4pm and let the Hibs fans leaving at half time jaunt across the city to watch the city. Although Celtic might not be as brutal towards Hibs than the famous Heart of Midlothian were. Hmm on second thoughts Hibs fans leaving Hampden may not want to view more 5-1's
  15. I think a big well done has to go Doc Bridgett and his crew for getting a track, that albeit very heavy due to the weather, was still able to produce some exciting heats of Speedway. Thought the Bandits looked very good in the first half of the meeting, but at the same time always had a feeling that if the rain stayed away and the track got drier the Monarchs would pull away, and that they did. But that doesn't mean the Bandits shouldn't be proud of their efforts last night. Their two reserves in particular, who attacked the track, despite conditions, and looked comfortable. Considering I've seen many more experienced rider turn up and be defeated before a wheel has turned at Armadale, that being in decent conditions, the Bandit faithful should be delighted that they have two young lads who just got on with it, and In my opinion showed a really good attitude. All in all a much more entertaining meeting than what I was predicting, and I do think once the season gets going Berwick could indeed pull off a few "Shock" results.
  16. It's like reading a post about Ashfield circa 2001 Ashfield when it was brought back in 1999 was one of the best racing strips in the land. I'm pretty certain when I say I think most Glasgow fans wish they had never of tinkered with it, in the quest for "Home Advantage" instead using the money to spruce up the stadium to make the fans day out a bit more comfortable. Thankfully it appears from people posts on here and talking to my old man that the track is once again producing entertaining racing with multiple lines. Whilst surroundings have also been tarted up. Speedway fans want a winning team, of that I am in doubt. But I would hazard a guess that not many would sacrifice proper speedway racing to get it.
  17. Glad to see Mitchell Davey getting in about the points, and being on the pace. The lad put a lot of hard work in (off track) last year to raise money for a fresh go at it this year, and I hope it pays off for him. Certainly a meeting with no last places will be a massive confidence boost for him.
  18. This has the makings of being a very tasty meeting. ...and if I wasn't saving for my Holiday at the end of May, would have thought about a wee drive down. Think Bandits will sneak it, but Sheffield to get a point.
  19. Can only see an Edinburgh win in this one. But let's hope there is at least some decent races.
  20. This will be my first trip to Ashfield in 3 years. (The first 2 having fallen out of love with the sport, and last year trying to force myself to cheer on Edinburgh, since I live a mile from Armadale) But as most will know, no matter how much you try, your club is your club, and over the last month my love for Glasgow has won the battle, and i've been itching to get back to Ashfield, finances not allowing until this Sunday (When ATM Dad has come to the rescue) I've heard so many great things regarding the new look track, the new facilities and the general feeling around Ashfield, and I have to say I can not wait to get back on the back straight and get routing for the Tigers once again. It's been far to long. Anyway, I can not really post an opinion on who will win, as I have only seen Glasgow at Armadale this year. But really I am just that excited that the result doesn't really matter to me at the moment. C'mon the Tigs
